We visited The Nelson Arms today after hearing it was voted the Number 1 pub in Kent! It's a gorgeous little pub, beautiful decor. There were 30 beers available on tap and warm pork scratchings available, and a small patio area out the back, which was lovely in the sunshine. Really warm welcome from the bar man. Lovely little pub.

One of the loveliest pubs I’ve been to in a while; went there with my wife and three children (I would advise going without children to be able to better enjoy the ludicrously rich selection of beers and ales available. I plan to return with my brother and brother-in-law to taste a few of the others on offer.

Fantastic selection of beers and ales. We attended pie night so £11 for a very good pie (I opted for steak and ale) with chips and veggies. Sub £5 for all my pints also, little bonus!

Had a wonderful evening with friends last night - food was fantastic (best lamb I have ever eaten) and everything was just wonderful. Quality of food and cooking by Giacomo was of the highest standard as usual. Ambience and Xmas decorations also.

We regularly come to Giacomo’s especially for the theme nights with singers & the charity dinners. We really do have the most enjoyable time & feel very special each time. Giacomo’s food is always delicious, hot & lots of it! The waiters (especially Antonio) really look after us & always spend time entertaining my nephew & niece & making us laugh. Giac always makes a point of greeting us himself when we arrive & he also comes to each table regularly throughout the evening to ensure that everyone is happy, having a good time & for a chat. The restaurant is beautifully decorated & looks even more stunning at Christmas. We definitely recommend Giacomo’s & thank every member of staff for always making it a special time.

I love this restaurant. We often take the (teen) kids here. Feels like authentic cuisine. Service is friendly and unfussy. Good selection of drinks always a non-alcoholic beer. If you're planning on going by train it is a bit of a walk from the station but there is plenty of parking over the road near the castle. Highly recommend as your dining place if you are in Tonbridge.

A group of 6 of us stayed at the Barn this weekend and couldn’t recommend it enough. Deborah and Drew were extremely welcoming, friendly and the breakfasts were excellent. All rooms very comfortable, spacious and immaculately clean. Wonderful stay and look forward to coming back soon.

Me, my wife and young daughter (1 year old) loved staying here! The conservatory lounge was very inviting and relaxing (and it had a very handy sofabed for me!), and the bedroom was very cosy too (for my wife and daughter)! The bathroom was also great and nicely done. Drew and his wife were very accommodating, and we wanted for nothing during our stay. We loved saying hello to the chickens in the mornings! We''d definitely book again and recommend to others.

Wonderful stay at the Barn, thanks to Drew and Deborah for being such good hosts, and for a delicious breakfast and chat each morning. Their space is so accommodating - lots of outside space to enjoy the roaming chickens, and each of the 3 rooms has its own couch and 'living room' space so they can be independently enjoyed by guests, or collectively as we did as a group. Look forward to returning for Black Deer festival in 2022! Highly recommended.

The Poacher and Partridge

Hartlake Rd, Tonbridge TN11 0PH, UK | Pub
P: 01732 358934

Rating: 4.5 (1705) Price Level:

Nice place with a lot of effort towards aesthetic and atmosphere. Service pretty good although a bit slow to get the food out. Food was really tasty, but I feel the portions are a tad small for the premium prices. My fish and chips was 18 pounds, with half the plate taken up by a plate of tartare sauce (needs some capers). I also noticed the options for vegetarians and vegans are quite limited to ‘healthy’ food, with simpler vegetable-based recipes rather than including things like plant-based burgers, etc, which people find a bit more of a treat. Overall though it’s a fab place for meat eaters and I’ll come again!

Great food, super friendly staff and divine coffee that I will be back for. We were riding our bikes and decided to stop in for dinner and made the right choice. We were sitting outside and really didn't want to leave but we had to go home to feed our animals. :)) We will definitely be back!

Had a really relaxed and enjoyable meal here at the weekend. Staff all very helpful and there was a good variety of food on the menu. I am dairy free and there were plenty of options, including a delicious vegan chocolate mousse for dessert. I love that you can order a larger portion from starter menu for your main meal.

Another wonderful pub in the elite chain. I love that all the pubs have their own character & charm. This one had partridge murals around & a gorgeous fireplace. Food was delicious as always. A few options for vegetarian & gluten free requirements. Lovely outdoor area & slide for the kids.

Visited on a Friday evening and although busy we were looked after quickly. Knowledgeable staff helped us through the menu and we ordered their suggestions. An excellent choice and the food- obviously all cooked fresh arrived with 20 minutes. All was perfect and although busy there was no effort to hurry up our experience. Back very soon.

Saw this recommendation on the Michelin website as a Bib Gourmand. High quality food at a cheaper price point than a Michelin Star. We went for a Sunday Lunch. Place was very busy and we booked online a while in advance to secure a spot. Walk-ins are welcome but at busy periods you might be disappointed in not getting a seat. Decor and atmosphere were very nice. Staff were friendly and attentive. Nice and cosy pub. Of course, the food was excellent. We had 1 minor issue with a hair in one of our starters which is why I rated it 4 stars. Stuff like this happens even in the best of places. I would go back as I think this is a one off. Apart from that, everything was great. Portion sizes for the roast were generous and the side of veg was huge. The quality of the food is amazing, everything is fresh and flavourful. You can really tell that they use high quality ingredients to get started. Plating is very pretty too if you are into that. We paid £40 per person for a 3 course Sunday lunch. After drinks and service charge it was just over £210 for a group of 4.

I was taken to the Kentish Hare for a birthday Sunday lunch. The food at this restaurant was very high quality. I had yellowfin tuna tartare starter which came with watermelon, avocado and orange ponzu, it was divine. For a main course my son-in-law and I shared a roast beef dish and I finished with Bramley apple crumble. My wife and daughter had fishcake followed by roast lamb and then Amalfi lemon parfait. The main course came with a selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. There was a good and varied wine menu and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. I had the non-alcoholic passion fruit martino shown in the picture. It was all delicious. The portions were generous and the service was friendly, efficient and quick. The atmosphere was relaxed and we could see the chefs working in the open kitchen. I will be returning frequently.

Kathmandu Valley (Indian, Nepalese & Himalayan Fine Dining & Takeaway Service)

P: 01732 366366

Rating: 4.5 (247) Price Level:

Good food. The chilli chicken starter was really delicious. The himalayan curry was almost pea green but it was really delicious. I wasn't keen on their bombay aloo but that could be personal taste, I found them too bland. Service was very good and prices were reasonable.

I walked into Kathmandu Valley and was immediately transported to the Himalayas. Not literally, such was the beauty of the Nepalese decor within. The service delivered by the staff member was humble, accommodating and caring. I loved the separate veggie section of the menu. The mix veggie starter was sublime and nicely presented. All food was great value and provided with care.

Very lovely place just by the station for a quick casual takeaway, lunch or dinner. Very friendly and efficient staff. They check all orders with everyone before going to the kitchen. There was good distance amongst tables and hand sanitizer station upon entrance and separate for each table. I also loved the hot water expanding towels in the end, which I nearly at thinking it was food. Food was very good! Chicken moms, coconut rice and mushroom biryani was delicious! Coconut rice had nice fluffy consistency, chicken momos were delicious and freshly made. Biryani had nice consistency and I liked the fact it was left mild for people to salt to their own taste. Mango lassi was also delicious! Atmosphere was good and great location just off the station by the high street. I highly recommend.
