Rating: 5 / 5
10/10 recommend! I visited on a Wednesday - there was a fantastic atmosphere with interesting, warm regulars and vinyl records being played and perused by enthusiasts (these record nights take place every 3rd Wednesday, I believe). The beer, cider, decor, and Rock the owner himself were all top notch. Can't wait to pay another DFL visit. Thanks for making me feel so welcome.
Rating: 4 / 5
Friendly bar man, not much beer choice, but good selection of ciders

First time visit, previously owned our own food shop. Food hot, tasty and value for money. Will use again
Rating: 5 / 5
Great Fish & Chips. Cooked to order and large portions. Happy to have found a proper chippy. Had it by the sea, which added to the authenticity Would recommend !
Rating: 4 / 5
Visited sheerness for a day trip. Fisherman’s catch was recommended by a local we met on the way. We got two small portions and a large one. Price is reasonable! Fish tasted great! Massive portions as well! Chips could have been better. They had both haddock and cod. When we asked which one would be better or what the difference in taste would be ( yes we haven’t had haddock in batter before) the guy there couldn’t really explain it. Not much seating but it’s mainly take away anyway. It was nice day anyway so we took it to the beachfront! Take away boxes are great!

This gem of a pub, in the heart of Sheerness, has been our local for the last 7 months. We have fallen absolutely in love with everything about the pub. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The food is great and the chefs are very accommodating. They even have a gluten free menu. The beer garden is perfect for a family lunch and the best of all is they are pet friendly. There is always a fresh bowl of water for your dog to drink. Our lab Harry loves that he can go with us when we pop in for a cold beer. I highly recommend you pop in and see what it is all about.

This is a hidden gem on the island, i can't believe I've not been before, it was my first time visiting today, we sat outside to eat, it's absolutely beautiful out there in the sun, staff were so friendly and checked if we were happy etc, very helpful too. The food was really good priced and the presentation was just rediculously spot on, looked and tasted like it should have cost more, food was fresh and the chilli con carne was actually the best I've ever had, I couldn't fault a single thing about it! And i am so fussy usually lol! Basically spent the whole time I was there just telling my mate how much I was enjoying the food, lol, I was so stuffed but ate every bit coz it just tasted so lovely. Gonna make this my regular place to eat from now on, coz of the price and quality of the food, and beautiful outdoor seating, compared to other places I usually go, this is top choice for me now. There's a wide range of choice on the menu, I'm really looking forward to going back with the kids and trying the different dishes out! And I am looking forward to coming back with friends at the weekend to try some of the cocktails out!

Great welcoming pub, everything came out quickly and staff made sure I had everything I needed. Just the place to go and relax with my dog ☺️ Looking forward to coming back!

Stopped by for lunch based on the reviews and rating. I have two terriers who were welcomed by the staff. Had a pint of Doombar - one of the best I’ve had on draught, and a delicious Chicken Ceasar Salad which the terriers helped polish off. They gave it 5 stars too!

This fish bar is an absolute gem. The food is always cooked to perfection, their traditional omelettes are to die for as are their kebabs and fish and chips. The salad is always freshly chopped and tastes wonderful. The owners and staff could not be friendlier and they go over and above to make sure all is OK and even the chef came out to ask if the food was OK. They are super efficient and they cook your order fresh. I don't know the names of the other staff but Helen is super friendly and we are always greeted by the family. A lovely place all round and one I would recommend to everybody ... the 60s music is always good too 😊 Thank you Island Fish Bar ... I will continue to visit every time I'm in the area 😊

We enjoyed our visit here, friendly people and a nice feel to the place, especially compared to other similar cafes. All was very clean and tidy. We’re quite fussy about our cod & chips and were very pleased with them here, and unless you’re very hungry even the small cod would be ample…flaky white and had a good crunchy batter, and proper chips - the other half liked the curry sauce. Also a good mug of tea and coffee. Looking forward to another visit and maybe the sunday roast next time 😊

And also I did my research they are right about being the only people in sheerness kent with pork doner gyros .

Banks Restaurant
428 Minster Rd, Minster, Minster on Sea, Sheppey ME12 3NZ, UK | Restaurant P: 01795 870521
Rating: 4.6 (150) Price Level:
Fantastic restaurant, lovely decor, beautiful food and great service. We messed up our booking and arrived a day late on a very busy day. However, they made accommodations for us and got us sat and fed within an hour. We had the roast dinner which (even for my appetite) was incredibly generous and utterly delicious. It’s a comfortable space for small or large parties of people, with a good selection of food and drinks. It’s so nice to have such a great restaurant so close by. Can’t wait to see you again!
Rating: 5 / 5
Come for the birds or the beach - stay for the breakfast at Banks! Beautifully prepared and presented. The best full English I've had in yonks. Two enormous sausages, superbly seasoned mushroom and tomato, generous rashers of streaky bacon, eggs to order, black pudding - and no beans because that's the way I swing. All as I could have wished. Took a while to arrive, but welll worth waiting for. And I was very hungry. And location - location - location - all of Sheppey at your feet.

04.08.24 3pm Sunday Roast for two. (First visit) Overall a new pleasant experience. Limited car parking immediately outside but the adjacent Abbey has a free car park) On arrival there is no defined area to request a table. We’d booked in advance & arrived to a very busy (but clean) dining room with just 3 young staff members covering the dining room & bar. After eventually managing to grab the attention of a staff member we were seated (chairs could do with thicker cushions) 15 minutes later we needed to grab some attention again to order our drinks (at which time we ordered food too rather that wait too long again) First thoughts are that although busy & a nice atmosphere, a ‘front of house’ team member is required to orchestrate the floor team & welcome guests on arrival. Food came quickly, good temperature & well presented with clean cutlery & napkins. (No table cloths) (2 courses £25 p/p) Mackerel starter was just enough, tasty & well presented. The roast beef was plentiful & on hot plates with 3/4 roast potatoes, pickled red & green cabbage, stuffing, carrots & plenty of gravy. (Unfortunately as the meals were served to the table, a small amount of gravy splashed onto the floor & my shoes) a side of hot cauliflower cheese (£3) finished the course. Staff were friendly but a little under pressure all doing everything, it seemed no defined roll for each? The young lady that sat us & said she’d be back for our drinks order then went off to clean glasses, seemingly forgetting all about us until after 15mins we raised a hand to draw some attention from another server. It was a food only visit this time so can’t comment on the rooms. The outdoor garden area has both a raised patio & lower grass area with fantastic views right over to the Sheppey crossing. Single male, female & disabled access toilets all on the same floor as the restaurant & bar. Not overwhelmed in a positive way but not a completely underwhelming visit. Food was so plentiful neither could manage desert which was a shame as they all looked very tempting…. Maybe next time? Worth another visit but maybe at a less busy time if possible. I would imagine it to be a very nice venue for a ‘date night’ with a little music, tablecloths & candles.
Rating: 4 / 5
Very good food that would have been perfect if I had crispy crackling instead of soggy skin on the pork (see photo). Unfortunately, the acoustics are terrible in the restaurant so it is hard to hold a decent conversation. The owners should consider installing some acoustic panels to minimise sound reflection on the many vertical, flat surfaces of the interior.

If I could give 100 stars I would. My partner and I have been talking about going for dinner at Banks since it reopened but because pretty much every restaurant we have been to recently the food and service has been awful so we were a bit hesitant. We should not have worried because from the moment we walked through the door we were met by the friendly Manager who was absolutely lovely and helpful, the food was exceptional; delicious, perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented and generous portions. We had the burger which was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted and shared a creme brulee (only because we were completely full from the main course but wanted to try because that and burgers give you a really good indication of how good food is at a restaurant). As well as wonderful staff and delicious food the ambience and decor was great too. Would thoroughly recommend.

Always great food, been eating from here for many years, eating in or takeaway it’s always great. Only downside is side is eating in the lights are very bright, used to like the old decor with low lighting to give you that authentic Indian restaurant vibe.

A Group of 18 of us went for a meal here and not one of us could fault it. The service was flawless, friendly and very quick. All meals were served at the same time so one was left waiting. The food was amazing and extremely flavoursome. Not badly priced either. Extremely clean and welcoming.

We was looking for a dog friendly pub whilst on holiday in Leysdown and found this little gem!!! we phoned on the friday for availability on their Sunday carvery, yes we got booked for 12pm. On arrival we could smell the home cooked food. Amazing. I had the large carvery and my wife had the regular carvery was help yourself to roast potatoes parsnips mashed carrot and swede savoy cabbage garden peas and cauliflower cheese the beef gravy was so tasty best I’ve ever had. Homemade yorkies too. Choices of meat was beef turkey or gammon. Popped in on a Thursday evening for birthday celebrations. It was our first time eating at Mem's, and it certainly won't be the last. Extensive and well thought out menu; there really is something for every palette. The food is absolutely sublime, well presented, and generous portions. The wait staff were friendly but polite, and the service was always with a smile. Would highly recommend Mem's to anyone who is looking for somewhere nice to go and eat on the island.
