This was my sister and I’s first stop when we landed in London. The space is small but atmosphere is very cozy and warm. Definitely felt like a local spot. Everyone working there was incredibly friendly and kind. The food and portions were pretty good too! Definitely recommend trying out if you’re visiting London/trying English breakfast for the first time!

Wonderful place with great food, service and friendly staff. They make your feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. Didn't think places like these existed anymore. Loved it.

I really loved the friendly and local atmosphere of this restaurant, which is hard to find in London. There were many patrons who were regulars here. The staff is very attentive and kind and one of the cooks (I think he is one of the owners) would talk to everyone and make jokes as well, which helped to make the place even more lively. I had the full English breakfast and overall it was good but the bacon was overcooked and the toast was soggy. The sausage and black pudding were very good. The portions are big which is also a rare find for a breakfast in London nowadays. I think the experience of eating here is a must try. If you are looking for some decent grub in the area I would certainly recommend it. Cash only!

Still a homely place for locals as we were the only out-of-town peeps there at opening time but then again, it's not the tourist season in the middle of this cold January month. Family run and all of them were hospitable and friendly. Ned will make the effort to talk to everyone. He let us tried his homemade pesto, which was simply lovely. We will make sure to try the pasta dishes next. We were even given a complimentary side of homemade apple pie. That was so sweet of them.

Everything about this place is SUPERB. Food is phenomenal, the staff are extremely friendly and this is testament to how busy it is even in the middle of the week - you may even spot the odd celebrity in there, so be sure to get there early to be guaranteed a table, as it is a small venue. They always go the extra mile for you and are committed to making you a happy customer. 100% recommend - I had the escalope and chips, with the Nutella roly poly and custard for dessert. You will not regret it, trust me. Well done Anna, Nevio, Tony and the rest of the team for keeping up the family tradition of running a fantastic business!

Simply Smashed - Quality Smash Burgers

114 Mile End Rd, Stepney Green, London E1 4UN, UK | Hamburger Restaurant
P: 07907 673384

Rating: 4.9 (2259) Price Level:

Ordered through ubereats while staying in London and the food was incredible. It was accepted and prepared unbelievably quickly and was packaged well enough to still be piping hot when it arrived. Ordered 2 combo boxes which came with a burger, wings and a generous portion of loaded fries. Safe to say the box was demolished in minutes! Everything was delicious and I’d definitely order again.

Simply Smashed lives up to the hype! I tried their Wagyu burger, and it was perfection—high-quality ingredients, perfectly cooked, and seasoned to bring out the natural flavours of the Wagyu. Even the fries and chicken tenders were on point. Though I initially thought the portion was small for what I paid, it turned out to be more than enough. The brothers running Simply Smashed are incredibly welcoming and attentive. Amazing food, amazing service—wishing them continued success inshAllah!

It was such an underrated experience! I found the place via Google reviews, and I must say I immensely enjoyed it, especially the smash burger! The double chicken thigh burger was massive and tasty, and I got Algerian sauce. The service from YZ was excellent! Overall, I live in the area and definitely would come back!

The best burger I’ve ever had in London. Probably in my life, even. Amazing service by IR, great ambiance in the restaurant too. I had the Wagyu Brisket Burger, husband had the Wagyu Bacon Burger. They’re UNBELIEVABLE. So tasty, and the buns are extra soft too. We also had the Garlic Parmesan Loaded Fries, so delish! This is the first time I’ve been here and would definitely come again.

Yesterday, we attended a group of 15 sisters from the Shade Centre. The food was astounding, the service was excellent and the brothers went out of their way to cater for our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed the smoke and platter and the prawns were very delicious and the flavours were on point They also provided a prayer space so it is inclusive. Definitely worth a visit and will be visiting again.

I recently visited Smoke End for an evening dinner with friends after hearing several recommendations, and it did not disappoint. The aesthetics of the restaurant were impressive, creating a high-class atmosphere with beautiful, stylish furniture. The ambiance definitely added to the experience. Service was excellent—the owner frequently checked in to ensure we were satisfied, and the staff was attentive and efficient. Our food arrived promptly, with a level of service that reminded me of upscale city dining. I ordered the steak, cooked precisely to my liking, paired with a perfectly seasoned mushroom sauce. We also shared the loaded fries, which were presented elegantly. The fries had a delightful contrast: a crisp crust on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with just the right amount of chili flavor. I would highly recommend Smoke End and am already looking forward to my next visit!

Fair pricing for the food, which was great quality, cooked to perfection. Service was pretty good, approx 15/20 mins wait. They didn't provide tap water, although they provided one bottle of water free of charge. All in all, it was a worthwhile impromptu visit. Spent a total of £75 for 2 people (T-bone steak & Salmon with extras as pictured).

I totally underestimated this place! I thought it was just another burger joint. How wrong I was!!! Stepping in it felt like I had travelled time and space and found myself somewhere in middle America. The food is great, the burgers are amazing (they go from a minimum of two patties to a maximum of six! So good!). The bourbon wings are addictive. The selection of Bourbon is mind blowing. Here I had the best Old Fashioned I ever had in London. The music was amazing, incredible!!! What a hidden gem.

This is a great place to enjoy good whiskeys and bourbons and also they are serving one of the most beautiful burgers in town. Ample selection of whiskeys and bourbons. Every time I visit they extend their drinks menu. So if you like to taste new brands this is you go to place. Just go to bar for a drink you can learn all about whiskeys and bourbons from the owner. On top of that there is a live music some evenings. Amazing place.

WNGZ Mile End (Chicken Wings, Burgers, Cheesy chips)

WNGZ in Mile End is an absolute gem! I had a loaded box with a mojito, and everything was fresh, juicy, and packed with flavour. What really sets them apart though is the amazing staff. They’re friendly, welcoming, and always make sure everything is just right. They check in to see if you’re happy with your meal and that there are no issues, showing they genuinely care about your experience. If you’re after great food and top-notch service, WNGZ is the spot to be!

Saucy wing galore @wngzuk. I love my wings and I love my sauce and @wngzuk brings it all together. Luckily they executed it just right because not only are the wings chunky, but breaded well enough to have crunch even after they cool down. Their sauces are really tasty too - Korean and hot were great but if you want proper spice, volcano is the one. Their grilled wings weren't bad at all either but I think the winner was the fried wings. These guys have really worked on the batter and I can tell. No generic sauces here either and they're coating in a thick glaze of tasty flavours. The burgers I thought were decent. They did have a crunch in the coating but I'd say just get a variety of the wings because they were 👌 They have a few branches across London, so if you want a saucy wing fix, this is the spot 👌

I recently tried the rice box at Wingz in Mile End, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The rice was perfectly fluffy with a hint of lemon flavor, adding a refreshing twist. You can choose between fried or grilled chicken as a topping, but trust me—go for the grilled. It’s juicy, well-seasoned, and pairs beautifully with the rice. Highly recommended! They need to improve their service which was below the level of expectations.

I had the La Doritos pizza, it sounded intriguing and I felt a little devil may care. lock me up. It is possibly the worst tasting pizza I’ve ever had. however once I scraped off the Doritos and the ‘guacamole’, a serviceable pizza lay beneath 10/10 for creativity and aesthetics 0/10 for flavours

My favourite pizza spot in London for authentic thin base Italian pizza. The “summer” is to die for (pepperoni and n’djua, but for the insider tip… add buffalo mozzarella). Even if I didn’t live local I’d still come once a week-ish (and order profusely from Deliveroo). Veronica is the best!

Holy Smokes BBQ London

Holy Smokes BBQ, Unit 26, Bow Triangle Business Centre, 26 Eleanor St, London E3 4UR, UK | Barbecue Restaurant
P: 07587 119407

Rating: 4.6 (961) Price Level:

I think I found the best Halal BBQ place in London. I tried their 7 or 12-hour smoked rib, and it was amazing. The pickles were sweet, and juicy, and complemented the meat perfectly. The portion size was good, but halfway through eating, I only tasted the meat without any flavourings. I would still recommend trying out this place, although I don't think the prices are justified given the location and service. A single portion cost £24, and there was no seating available to enjoy your meal, which was the only downside.

A spot we’ve been coming to a for a while and it does not disappoint. They’re known for doing amazing brisket. For me, the coffee barbecue sauce really this place up another level because the mid rib sandwiches was amazing. The ribs with the pickle always hits the spot and it’s perfect for someone who loves Smokey meats. The brisket loaded fries is some of the best loaded fries I’ve had creating the perfect experience.

We drove quite a long way to try this food, and when we arrived, we were shocked by the location. We didn’t expect to find any food shops in this area, as it looks like an industrial zone. However, I have to say the food was amazing, and we really enjoyed it. They were even open on Christmas Day, and we went back a second time to buy food for our Christmas meal at home, which we also thoroughly enjoyed. It’s definitely worth trying!

I have tried smoked meat in many countries especially Canada but nothing compares to the smoked Ribs and Brisket from Holy Smokes BBQ. This spot is a lowkey hidden gem in East London and for the huge portions they give, it’s worth the price. The owner is also extremely hospitable and is there to make sure you have an amazing experience. If you live in London or you are visiting, I would highly recommend checking them out🙌

I’ve been coming here ever since I’ve know them when they were at Hackney Wick. The quality has always stayed the same. The best of everything, Smash Burger, Loaded Brisket Fries, Brisket Burger, Short Ribs, Skin on Fries and ofcourse the items they regularly alternate bringing something new every so often. You will not be disappointed with the food. There are some seats outside, not ideal in my opinion. Really wish they could have a place where a dine in experience would be possible. Although, the seating matches the smokehouse food style. Just not for a wet and cold London take out. Staff are always friendly and cater for the needs. Over the years, it has gone up in price and does hurt the wallet a fair bit now. But worth it once in a while.

Wow we loved this place. Food was unique but simple and done with precision. It was a great example of what I think a lot of London restaurants are trying to achieve but many aren’t hitting the mark on the quality and taste you need to bring. Particularly enjoyed the scallops and the soup. The chocolate mousse dessert was too intense so I would recommend the rhubarb tart they had instead (but may have been seasonal). Servers were friendly and the atmosphere was very charming, we enjoyed sitting in the back and watching the kitchen. I live in east London and took my grandparents and they asked me several times over to repeat the name they liked it so much.

Really lovely restaurant! I loved the decor inside. It's quite spacious as well, clean and tidy washroom. The menu has good variety and the food was delicious as well, especially the prawns in the starter. The staff was polite and friendly but different people kept coming several times to check if everything was okay throughout the meal. The washroom did not have hot water (no biggie but just an improvement point)

Loved this place! Will definitely be coming back! 🥰 Came here for a birthday dinner with my family, and we got ORDERING! When we arrived, the music got put on very late, so it was pretty much silent in the beginning but it didn’t bother us much. The mocktails we ordered were mostly the ‘ISLAND DREAM’ and the ‘BEAUTY AND THE BEAST’. Both were delish! Appetisers ordered were 2 CHEEKY CHOPS, PRAWN TO BE WILD and 2 different Wing Plates. We also asked for the BREAD AND HUMUS but they didn’t bring it to our table 😕 and it got put on the bill but everything was sorted in the end. Everything was just absolutely filling and when the mains arrived, we had to get takeaway boxes. Mains!!! We got the ‘WE MEAT AGAIN’ mixed platter! Omg, it was too good 😋 my family and I got our main dishes and I ordered the ‘WE GOAT YOUR BACK’. I couldn’t stop eating. The jollof rice on the side of the dish was good too! Had a little Caribbean twist to it. 🙂‍↕️ The sides were also very good but none of us like the AFRIKANA FRIES, they were technically cheesy chips and they weren’t for us. Everything else satisfied us and I can’t wait to go back. We got served by Malik! He was very nice, quick and ready. I told him our reservation was for a birthday and he got us a birthday cake on the house! So sweet of him 🥳

We held a wedding reception in Bistrotheque in November 2024 and it was brilliant. With both the downstairs cabaret bar and the upstairs dining room, it’s the perfect place to move between spaces for drinks reception, dinner and the evening party. The quality of the food is indescribable and everything was executed with slick professionalism. We had multiple guests compliment the cocktails and how great all the food tasted. The events manager was a dream to work with throughout planning, really in the detail to make sure the day goes smoothly and did everything possible to meet the specific needs of the event. 100% would recommend. Thanks to the entire Team at Bistrotheque for an excellent day. Pictures by @dan.mccourt.
