Visited here on our way up to Halifax on Saturday. Street parking, and managed to park outside. The decor in here is beautiful! Really tastefully done. Staff were super friendly. I had the beef and onion gravy ciabatta, and my boyfriend had the Viaduct burger, both of which were great! Decent price too, definitely worth a visit!

We attended the wine tasting evening, what a great night. We weren't sure what to expect but got to say there was plenty of tasting , no short measures. Lovely guy hosting and very chatty. Atmosphere was great and the sharing plate was very appreciated however we expected a little more food. Anyway didn't spoil the evening and the landlady was on the table next to us unbeknown 🤪 Thanks for the Rose! we loved it that much we had 2 more bottles 💕

Food was really nice & the lad who served us was really friendly & helpful. Had a table booked for half 7 but didn't get sat down until 7:45 as our table wasn't ready when we arrived. Really nice place inside.

Scandic house

Updated: Now under new management. Lovely new venture from Cafe Thai crew. First week of opening and our visit was spotless. We had the shrimp and sunshine open sandwich (which was absolutely delicious) and the meatballs open sandwich (husband devoured it). We had some brownie and granola squares for pudding and were very satisfied for our first lunch here (there will be more). Service was excellent, atmosphere great, although peak lunch was very busy. Table booking will hopefully be available soon. Just what West Vegas needed.

The new Scandic House is back & better than ever. Under new management the food is so deliciously fresh & the vibe so chilling it makes you feel like you’ve taken a load off when you visit. The soup is an absolute favourite, home made with traditional home made bread by a real Italian! If you’ve not been for a while - it’s time to go back!

Lovely food and very welcoming. Couldn’t do enough for us and the food was delicious. Had dinner with the family. Had a prawn starter and steak and it was very tasty. Tried the Filipino dishes too and they were delicious. We had homemade limoncello and sorbet for dessert 😋.

Update: Now under new management. The food is still delicious and well presented but unfortunately the coffee (machine and possibly beans used) has changed and is disappointing which used to be something I loved popping in for. Popped in for breakfast, it was quiet but felt very cosy with the lovely decor. Ordered a latte and the Norwegian Salmon Serenity, which were beautifully presented and delicious. Will absolutely be back to try the lunch menu!

Lovely fresh tasting food, many flavours going on with the main I had, the pickled carrot was a very nice complement to the dish. Atmosphere felt welcoming and calm, decorations to the place looked neat, minimal, museum like, tables and chairs engraved with their logo dotted around and comfy couches. The staff were polite and attentive and I also spoke to the owner twice which was cool, he was a nice, friendly dude. Enjoyed my dinner here and will definitely stop by again! Looking forward to seeing how it grows.

Great food, had a booth wood burger, the Mrs had a lamb burger. Both were well presented and tasted great. Good selection of drinks behind the bar. All staff were excellent, attentive and helpful. It's a lovely pub, some good outdoor seating. Will call again.

I have eaten here several times now and each time I have enjoyed myself. The food is tremendous and good value. I couldn’t believe the size of the fish I was served- it was ginormous! The staff are always very welcoming, very courteous and polite. Sarah, Jane, Mirella and Molly served us yesterday, with either food or drink. Hats off to the ladies and the chef! I would recommend this pub very highly.

Excellent pub. Really cosy and welcoming feel. Staff were good. Food was excellent. Had the duck bon bons to start which had a nice crispy coating and then great duck flavour. The burger was good, maybe a bit less juicy than I’d really like but great flavours and you could tell the chef was preparing everything fresh and with care. The chips were amazing. Crispy and cooked in beef fat so full of flavour. It was busy so definitely book in advance. They also had a live musician start around 6pm which really suited the atmosphere of the pub. It’s not far from the Saddleworth exit on the M62 so defo worth visiting if you’re looking g for a stop off away from a service station.

The lion Bob is no longer called the lion. It has been renamed The Milestone. There is a paid car park around the corner which is very cheap. 1 hour free, 40p for 2 hours 80p, for 3 hours. £1.20 for 4. Takes coins and card. Pub is a lovely little place, warm and cosy. Staff are helpful and friendly. This is worth a stop.

Stopped for a night while on a camper tour of the north and wanted to have a treat for our last night. Rooms: spotless and comfortable room with tea, coffee, telly and shower gel etc. Bed was cosy and the walk in shower was next level on the water pressure, much to our delight. Breakfast was left outside the room before bed in a cute basket and consisted of fruit, porridge, fresh croissants, butter and jam. Enjoyed being able to eat at our leisure. Pub: we arrived around 6pm exhausted from a day hiking and driving. Was pleased to see a nice varied and well priced menu. I had a big bowl of pasta which tasted lovely. Attentive owner and staff. Pub shut at 10pm but could take a drink to room if you wanted. We were knackered but could have easily sat down til wee small hours so definatley not a bad thing. Parking: pub is on main busy road with small frontage. Free parking available up the road but we parked in the car park just behind that's very very cheap and free over night. You can pay online so no need to get up at 8am. Details on the side of the meter and would be about 90p from 8am to check out time or about 2 quid for the day if you want to explore locally. Overall this is a great little inn with a personal homely feel. Amazing value for money and would def recommend for business, couples or friends. It's also really dog friendly in the pub and rooms. I've taken a star off location as it's a very busy road and our dog is old and blind so it was a bit challenging for the night time wee walk but this is obviously subjective.

I've popped in here a couple of times before for drinks outside, but after today up definitely be back to try more of the delicious menu! We ordered from the early bird menu and I can't express how good the food is for the money. The chicken parm alone is one of the best I've ever eaten, it was so fresh and tasty! The staff were super friendly and attentive, and the vibe is warm.

Lovely pub! Good food! Good service! The Maypole is a lovely little pub tucked away in Warley Town. There is a very cosy atmosphere in the main pub area and the larger dining area is good and open with original features scattered throughout. The food is generally good basic food, with a good range on the menu and made well. I only gave it a 4 when comparing to other similar pubs in the Halifax area. But there is certainly nothing wrong with the food, and is good value for money. The roast dinner was good, with plenty of meat served on the plate! Decent Yorkshire pudding too! Definitely recommend for eating out with families of all ages!

Great service from the minute we arrived. Good value food with some particularly tasting elements. I'm glad to see the roast lunch came with a good amount of gravy. One of our party had the steak, which she said was excellent. Her chunky chips and onion rings looked so good I had to pinch one of each. The cheescake was very light, as well as very tasty.

Experience was great and scampi was delicious. Out of all locations I’ve been to that offer scampi, this one served the most at 15 pieces. We did have some issues with my Grandma receiving peppers with her salad and me receiving lemon with my drink but this was not on them, we didn’t make them aware. All issues were resolved in a timely manner and without hesitation from the staff. Will visit again.

The Malthouse

270 Oldham Rd, Rishworth, Sowerby Bridge HX6 4QB, UK | Restaurant

Rating: 4.5 (656) Price Level:

First time visiting here today. I can only say that this restaurant deserves five stars all the way. As someone who is keen to provide feedback based on my own unbiased observations, I can categorically say that the gents toilets were in fabulous condition, which is not often the case with food-serving establishments. The food took twenty minutes to arrive, but I was in no way disappointed. Attached to this review are images of the succulent Roast Beef Sirlion that I had for lunch today. Perfectly cooked, served with a smile, just amazing service. I spoke with a gentleman working there in a senior capacity, Connor, and highlighted my hugely positive delight for everything since I was seated. If you are considering visiting The Malthouse, then please do! You will honestly not regret it.

We had a lovely time and meal here. We had a large family group and got put in the upstairs room. Food was pre ordered and very nice. Puddings were pretty small and bland but other than that all good. A lovely decorated place.

Hosted a baby shower at The Malthouse and I was very impressed. We hired a private room, not the main function room but the small one adjacent to it due to the numbers in our party. The staff were very attentive, particularly Minarli. She was constantly making sure we we okay for drinks and comfortable. We had the afternoon tea option and there was a large selection of food which was all delicious! But there was also a bar with plenty of options. The venue itself was decorated festively for Christmas and looked so lovely - from our private room to the main bar and restaurant area. Can't recommend enough based on the experience we had. Thank you for helping make my friends baby shower so special!

Really look forward to attending the weekly pub quiz here, which Andy does a great job of hosting along with extra games of play your cards right and what's in the box. Sue makes a lovely supper that's included in the price - the chips are fab! She's such a kind lady and always brings out alternatives for vegetarians too. Cosy atmosphere with a nice view from the conservatory/outdoor area on a warmer day. Wish I'd started visiting sooner!

Since it's changed hands, this pub is so lovely! Such a welcoming atmosphere, staff are warm and friendly and always give a fuss to my little dog! Drinks are really well priced and tonight we had food which was absolutely gorgeous! Was home made and fresh and came out piping hot. Could not fault it. Such a cosy atmosphere, been enjoying coming here on an evening and will continue to come back!

On one of my walks on Sunday ( 21/7/19) and called in the Duke of York in Stainland.... A nice little pub but no WIFi at the moment, enjoyed a nice couple 🍺🍺 of Elland Brewery's Summer Breeze 4.6% pale ale , now here's a thing , I don't like pale ale .....I'm more of tetley type of man...but this was excellent ....I highly recommend it .... The pub was nice the staff great , in parts I wondered if it was about to undergo a refurb ... I will be calling again when I'm walking in that direction....👍😁 xkxxx

02/09/22 - We went here on a Wednesday evening at 7pm. We arrived early but were seated straight away without a problem. Front of house and bar staff were really welcoming and friendly and our drinks order was taken straight away. The food was incredible. Of course, as always with tapas, we ordered numerous dishes which arrived throughout our sitting. Each dish was beautiful. Fresh and tasted phenomenal. Huge compliments to the chef. We particularly enjoyed the prawns, ordering a second portion because we enjoyed them so much. Each dish was just as good as the other, cannot fault the food in any area. Surprisingly we made room for dessert, we ordered the cheesecake which was a 10/10. Waiting staff were great, checking things were okay, if we wanted any drinks etc. Overall an amazing experience here, we will definitely be returning, likely very soon to try even more dishes!
