We went for dinner on a Wednesday evening so the place was quiet. The food was nice, I had a burrito and a nice cold Mexican beer. Not bad, but not as good as I was expecting.

It was a welcoming and wonderful experience, I planned a surprise dinner for my partner with friends. Gabe helped me out big time, pulled off the surprise and helped set up the table with decorations. The restaurant was beautifully presented, and the cocktails were amazing! Thank you for making the experience memorable, Gabe šŸ™ŒšŸ¾šŸ˜

Las Iguanas is hands down the best place to go for a fun, vibrant dining experience! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing with energy, and the staff were beyond amazing. They were so lovely, friendly, and attentive throughout the entire evening, making us feel right at home. Now, letā€™s talk about the cocktails! They have an incredible selection, but the piƱa colada is an absolute standoutā€”perfectly blended, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweetness. Easily one of the best Iā€™ve ever had! The happy hour deals are also fantastic, making it the perfect spot to unwind with friends or celebrate a special occasion. On top of that, the food was delicious with a great variety of flavors and dishes to choose from. Itā€™s clear that Las Iguanas puts a lot of thought and effort into every part of the experience, from the quality of the drinks to the warm, welcoming service. Whether you're popping in for cocktails or a full meal, this place never disappoints. I canā€™t recommend it enough this is truly the best spot in town for great food, amazing drinks, and outstanding service. Iā€™ll definitely be back!

We went to La Cabana on graduation day, and we were lucky that they had tables free for us and seated us very quickly. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The food was really tasty and great portion sizes! The atmosphere was great, with a nice intimate restaurant with great music. We would definitely come again, and would absolutely recommend to go to!

Great food in an amazing location close to the Canterbury Cathedral. The restaurant is a fusion between classic dishes (you can find pizza, pasta, burgers) and Romanian cuisine. Romanian cuisine focuses on good meat and good quality ingredients, if you want to try some authentic dishes I would recommend the smoked aubergine salad, mititei and for dessert the Dracula's heart (actually called papanași, freshly made in the kitchen, the waiting is worthwhile). The service is very friendly and helpful and the restaurant looks amazing!

Chapman's

89-90 St. Dunstans St, Canterbury CT2 8AD, UK | Seafood Restaurant
P: Not available

Rating: 4.5 (425) Price Level:

We came for our wedding anniversary on a Friday night. We were the only ones here, but the service and the atmosphere was very nice. We had the tuna tartar and the scallops, followed by roasted hake fillet and monkfish wellington. All of the fish courses were full of flavour and good size portions. The winner for me was the monkfish. The desserts were also really tasty. The chocolate delice tasted like proper real chocolate but the cinnamon bun takes the cake. The portions are generous. I think the main courses are well priced, starter and dessert on the higher end of the spectrum. But the food is worth it. Will definitely come back again!

Hi Chapman's! I wanted to let you know about the fantastic dining experience my partner and I had recently at this wonderful restaurant. Last Friday evening, we visited with a reservation, and it was truly delightful! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, the ambiance was cozy, and the food was absolutely worth it. I would highly recommend giving it a try!

We ate here as part of a friend's special birthday celebrations. We'd booked for lunch and all fancied the Tasting menu, which was terrific value even before we realised it was half price that day. The food was incredible. Ross is a talented chef. Alysha looked after us perfectly. Nothing was too much trouble. They easily swapped out a starter one of our party with a crab allergy for equally delicious prawns. Presentation and flavours were amazing. If only I lived nearer.

Looking to try some seafood in Canterbury, our group of 4 decided to make a booking for this restaurant and were incredibly pleasantly surprised upon visiting it. The dishes at this restaurant were very creative and we could all tell that the chef put a lot of effort into them. Some highlights of our meal were the fried oysters and the fish and chips, which had batter that was light and crispy. The runny yolk from the deep fried egg was a perfect fit with the sauce used for the asparagus. The ice cream that came with our dessert was not too sweet and tasted strongly of white chocolate, fitting nicely with the warm cinnamon buns under it. The service was wonderful too. The waitress was incredibly kind and talkative, telling us about life in Canterbury and recommending sightseeing spots for us in the local area. Upon complimenting the chef after we finished our mains, he even increased the portion sizes of our desserts for us! Overall, this was a delightful dining experience and if we ever come back to Canterbury, we'll be sure to return.

Went to this lovely restaurant for my bfā€™s birthday - completely unplanned and didnā€™t have any expectations but we were incredibly surprised! We ordered scallops and tuna tartar as starters. The scallops were succulent and cooked to perfection, but the tuna tartar was ok as it was a bit dry without any dressing. Thereā€™s room for improvement for the tuna tartar but it didnā€™t affect the overall experience. For main we had Hake in curry Dahl sauce and whole lemon sole. Both were absolutely delicious! The hake was fusion with the curry sauce, splash of chilli oil and lots of coriander - an explosion of flavours and such a pleasant surprise! The lemon sole was super fresh with silky and buttery flesh and delicate flavours. The service was great too. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely be back!

A lovely restaurant with a bar and different combinations of seating type allows you to experience a different type of cosy get-together around the table. There is an upstairs area that I did not see and will try this area upon my return sometime. The food was of very good quality and was nicely presented on the plate. The service was very quick and politely done, and orders were dealt with very well by our waiter. The atmosphere was nice, and the decor a little bit off the wall, sort of industrial, i would say? I was disappointed when I ordered a drink with Brandy in it and was surprised they didn't stock it and had to settle for a whisky instead. I do have to say the bottled IPA was absolutely delicious and had a lovely hoppy, fruity tang to it, which went great with my beef burger! Outside seating available for fine weather conditions on the street, the pavemented side looks great at the entrance. There are toilets available in this establishment. Overall, it was a good evening out and a very nice experience in the restaurant in the Canterbury town centre.

Food was great. However the staff wasnā€™t very positive when seating us, and didnā€™t tell us till after we had eaten that they had an all you can eat pancake offer on that day. So we had finished our dish then was told. And felt we had to grab the offer while we was there as they was unsure if the offer was staying. But glad I didnā€™t pay for the pancakes full price, they was dry and chewy. The main meal we had was amazing!!! Couldnā€™t fault that. But the staff need to be more attentive and explain more. The down stairs toilet didnā€™t work so had to go upstairs itā€™s great they had two but also an inconvenience for people with a disability.

My husband and I booked for the Indian high tea. It was on an offer and we love high tea, so we figured we would try it. It was all so amazing. There was a tone of variety of both sweet and savoury and the masala chai tea we got was very nice. The service was quick and attentive. Such a fun and unique twist- our favourite was the spiced chocolate cake and the potato sandwich. We cleaned our plates!

Wow, what an amazing experience. Came here for our 23rd anniversary meal, and went for the 12 course tasting menus with matched wines. After the first couple of courses I was a little worried that we would not be full by the end, but by the end of the tenth course we were both struggling to take another bite. Had the food not been so good, we may have given up, but it was amazing and we persevered, and now we are both uncomfortably full but so happy with what we have eaten. The service was impeccable, you rarely get it so good in this country. The food was rich, delicious and wholesome, and varied enough to keep the most eclectic palate happy. The wines were incredibly well paired, and each one delicious in their own right, but elevated to another level with the paired food. It is a little off the beaten track, but worth going out of your way to find. No regrets at all with choosing this marvellous restaurant, we will be singing praises to our friends and family and would heartily recommend to anyone.

We had a wonderful lunch at The Cook's Tale Restaurant in Canterbury! As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Asher, our host, who was friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure our dietary requirements were carefully addressed and guided us through the options. We opted for the Meat and Vegetarian Thali, and both were absolutely delicious ā€” full of vibrant flavors and beautifully presented. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. During our meal, Chef Alfie came over to check on us, asking if we were enjoying our food and if we had any feedback. It was a lovely personal touch that made the experience even more memorable. The restaurant itself had a cosy, festive atmosphere, with Christmas decorations adding a warm touch to the environment. Overall, a fantastic dining experience, with excellent food, great service, and a welcoming ambience. Highly recommended!

I have been visiting The Cookā€™s Tale for at least eight years now and I always have a wonderful experience. The food is simply delicious! It's fine dining quality at a mid-range price. If you are able to take advantage of one of their monthly deals, it's insanely good value for money. The service has always been very attentive. As a vegetarian I love the quantity and variety of vegetarian dishes - it's clear they aren't some afterthought. Something else that I really appreciate about The Cookā€™s Tale is that unlike many other restaurants in a similar price range they don't automatically add gratuity to the bill, it's left to you to decide how much you want to tip. If you are considering visiting The Cookā€™s Tale, stop thinking and go now! You won't regret it.

The White Horse Inn

Rating: 4.5 (544) Price Level:

I absolutely loved this pub. We arrived in the village after a 4 hour hike wanting a cosy place to rest and recuperate and boy did this place deliver. Just big enough that there are various nooks to relax in but small enough to have instant atmosphere when you walk in. A giant log fireplace in the back dining room is really special and all the staff are super friendly and keen to help. We had the Fish and Chips which were excellent with really substantial portions. I'm so glad we picked this pub.

The best pub I've ever been to and I am not ashamed to admit that I have been to quite a few:) There is always a risk when visiting a "local" pub in the small village that you feel out of place. Was totally opposite. On the first visit felt like I've been coming there for decades. Ticked all of the boxes of what a geat pub should be. History and most amazing setting, cozy, great selection of drinks and food, friendly and attentive staff. Not tried the food, but couple we met at the B&B mentioned that was reasonably priced and very tasty.

We couldnā€™t have been made to feel more welcome and didnt feel out of place there with the locals. The lady behind the bar in particular was so friendly and helpful and couldnā€™t do enough for you. We would highly recommend this pub either for a drink or to eat if you are staying in the area.

Quirky local pub off a picturesque town square. The place is full of books and odd little decorations, in a good way (it's a great if only a little random book selection). The staff was super friendly and service was quick, given how busy it was. The food was nice too and very filling. Price was reasonable - we paid Ā£35 each for main, dessert and a couple of drinks. There are two friendly pub dogs who roam around. Customers were nice too - one of them even got the whole pub to sing my boyfriend happy birthday.

Great Little restaurant right around the corner from the theatre and the cathedral. We popped in for dinner and had the duck breast and wild mushroom risotto. Both were perfectly prepared and the presentation was top notch as well. The kids had burgers and even those weren't small little burgers - proper portions. The host was very friendly and accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation. Good service overall. Overall, I was extremely impressed with the Marlowe's. Went to Canterbury and found this lovely restaurant by the river. Sat outside and all I can say is wow. Special set menu Monday - Friday in the day, very reasonable for the quality. Had one of the best beef carpaccioā€™s Iā€™ve eaten (best was in Paris) and then a cracking nduja/salami wood fired pizza that I only just finishedā€¦ shame to waste amazing food. One of the nicest menuā€™s Iā€™ve seen in a whileā€¦ fancied everything. The service also gets a special mention (lady with the smile and braces) couldnā€™t have done more for us and you can tell they had been trained well. Highly recommend if you come to Canterburyā€¦ inside good vibes and good music. Best to book especially at weekends. Happy Eating :)

The Foundry Brewpub - Canterbury Brewers and Distillers

77 Stour St., Canterbury CT1 2NR, UK | Pub
P: 01227 455899

Rating: 4.5 (1204) Price Level:

The Foundry Brewpub is a good option for a Saturday afternoon. Perfectly acceptable, really. The food? Decent enough and good value for what you get. But hereā€™s the thingā€”it just felt like it was missing that little spark. You know, the vibe that makes you want to settle in for a few hours and soak it all up. The atmosphere was a bit flat for my taste, but maybe I caught it on an off day. Itā€™s certainly not unpleasant, just not exactly brimming with character. However, thereā€™s one thing that will definitely leave an impressionā€”the toilets. Oh yes, the mysterious ā€œcombo trap.ā€ I wonā€™t spoil it for you, but letā€™s just say navigating the facilities here is an experience in itself.

My wife, kids, and I stayed in UK for an entire week for vacation and spent all of our time in London, Brighton, and Canterbury and this was the best meal by far that we had during our time in the UK. Their spirits and beers are brewed and distilled in-house and are all delicious! I highly recommend getting a flight of the infused gins and try a few half pints of their beers. It's all delicious. I personally had the Cajun chicken burger. 10/10 would definitely eat here again given the chance.

Excellent brewpub with a large selection of beers, four on cask the remaining 11 on keg. Great atmosphere and great beer. They also have a large selection of spirits distilled on site. I had the tasting paddle of 5 different beers in one third measures then tried 25ml of their single malt whisky. The Foundry black was my favourite beer and the whisky was delicious. I didn't eat here but the food served at the table next to me looked and smelt good. The staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient at their job. I'm very tempted to book myself on a tour next time I come to Canterbury.
