I absolutely loved this pub. We arrived in the village after a 4 hour hike wanting a cosy place to rest and recuperate and boy did this place deliver. Just big enough that there are various nooks to relax in but small enough to have instant atmosphere when you walk in. A giant log fireplace in the back dining room is really special and all the staff are super friendly and keen to help. We had the Fish and Chips which were excellent with really substantial portions. I'm so glad we picked this pub.

Quirky local pub off a picturesque town square. The place is full of books and odd little decorations, in a good way (it's a great if only a little random book selection). The staff was super friendly and service was quick, given how busy it was. The food was nice too and very filling. Price was reasonable - we paid £35 each for main, dessert and a couple of drinks. There are two friendly pub dogs who roam around. Customers were nice too - one of them even got the whole pub to sing my boyfriend happy birthday.

After a long journey to Dover castle and Canterbury we had a relaxing and enjoyable dinner at White Horse Chilham. The atmosphere is very cosy and quirky, the fire place is so nice, Colt the mighty dog just added to whole cosines. We had delicious calamari starter and Fish and chips. Paul and Jess were friendly and very welcoming.

The best pub I've ever been to and I am not ashamed to admit that I have been to quite a few:) There is always a risk when visiting a "local" pub in the small village that you feel out of place. Was totally opposite. On the first visit felt like I've been coming there for decades. Ticked all of the boxes of what a geat pub should be. History and most amazing setting, cozy, great selection of drinks and food, friendly and attentive staff. Not tried the food, but couple we met at the B&B mentioned that was reasonably priced and very tasty.

We stayed up the road from this lovely, old and quirky village pub. The food was amazing and the service excellent. We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome and didnt feel out of place there with the locals. The lady behind the bar in particular was so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. We would highly recommend this pub either for a drink or to eat if you are staying in the area.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious. The hot water works well. The bed was comfortable. Parking was free. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was worth the early morning. The issues were that the bathroom tap dribbled out which made washing hands difficult but not impossible. The room did get a bit cold at night so we used the space heater provided which worked well, the problem was that it had a missing wheel which made it difficult moving it around. Overall I would recommend staying at Howfield Manor, we booked via booking.com and the value for money was very good. If I was to visit again I would hope that the issues mentioned above would have been resolved.

Our wedding at Howfield Manor was truly perfect in every way. From the moment we started planning, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. A special mention goes to Muriel, who was on leave during our wedding but made sure every detail was meticulously planned before the big day. Her dedication and careful organization gave us complete confidence and made the whole process stress-free. On the day itself, Kevin, the manager, made sure everything ran without a single fault. His attention to detail and calm presence allowed us to fully enjoy every moment. The food was outstanding, and we’ve received countless compliments from our guests about both the meals and the flawless service. We also want to highlight Bishmil, who went above and beyond by sourcing non-alcoholic wine at short notice and ensuring we were fully taken care of throughout the day. Nothing was ever too much for him. The entire team worked so hard to make our wedding day perfect, and they truly succeeded. From the smooth running of the event to the warmth and attentiveness of the staff, there isn’t a single thing we or our guests could fault. We are so grateful to Kevin, Bishmil, Muriel, and the entire team for giving us a day we’ll treasure forever!

We attended Howfield Manor for a family gathering to remember and celebrate the life of my Auntie. All the staff are absolutely fantastic. Special thanks to Gobika on Reception, who always smiles, and is incredibly helpful and kind. The rooms are beautifully clean (please pass on our appreciation to the housemaids who do a brilliant job), well equipped and relaxing. The beds are really comfortable, with crisp white bed linen and there are plenty of fluffy white towels. The setting is gorgeous, with lots of places to wander around the gardens and grounds, and places to sit. We had a buffet meal on arrival, and cooked breakfast this morning - all of it was excellent and a reasonable price. Waking up this morning and hearing the birds singing was lovely, and I wished I had been staying longer! Planning to return to this small, quiet, perfect place to escape and relax, as well as being an ideal venue for a special occasion. Highly recommend.

We got there on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I ve ordered a ribeye and it looked mostly like a fillet. It was ok, over cooked but I couldn’t send it back as we were in a hurry, triple cooked chips were dry and empty inside, too crunchy. Prawns were my favourite, they were lovely. The burger was lovely too with the french fries.. The waitress was so lovely and friendly, and the atmosphere was cosy and awesome.. I ll definitely go back

Very good meal, the drink selection was good and the service was excellent. The star is lost as £16 for the roast although good quality was steep for the quantity of food received. The dessert selection on the Sunday menu was quite limited which meant none of our group had dessert. The Cajun chicken burger a member of our group had looked amazing and got a good review from him. I would choose this if I went on a Sunday again.
