“What a wonderful place. We recently held a baby shower here for my sister and Dean and the team were absolutely great. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a little room to ourselves for the afternoon and ordered a selection of pizzas and sides as a buffet style, which were all delicious. The pub itself is absolutely stunning with so many unique old features. Great outside areas for when the sun is shining. I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting or thinking of a unique venue for a special event.”

“We finally managed to have a tour and tasting today, after Covid had cancelled it twice before. We had an informative tour around the vineyard, and then a tour around the winery, in a relaxed manner, with plenty of laughter. Then we had a proper tasting in the bar upstairs, and a few good goes down the adult slide! We’ll with the price and time. Sylvia could not have been better, and was a great tour guide and supplier of fine wines, still and sparkling for tasting. And the best bit, it was adults only, no children - keep it that way!!”

Mermaid Inn
The St, Bishopsbourne, Canterbury CT4 5HX, UK
Phone: 01227 830581
“If you want a friendly country pub for a good quality meal you will struggle to beat the Mermaid. The warm cosy setting inside is enhanced by the lovely friendly welcome from staff and the other customers. We only called in for a drink, but stayed for food because of the atmosphere inside. The food choice is limited, but that means what is offered is great quality food. We had the fish and chips and the pie and mash, which was all beautifully cooked and presented. We had our dog with us and she also enjoyed the fuss from customers and the other four legged visitors in the pub. This is a proper country pub, like many villages used to have. We hope it never changes and will be back again soon. Thank you to the staff and customers for making this such a splendid pub.”

“Our friends took us to this charming village pub on our first night of our long weekend in Kent. We see why they have raved about this place since it was taken over and remodelled. The food was your typical British pub dished, but elevated to the next level As this time of year, if we see pigs in blankets, we order some. I highly recommend you do, some of the best we have had ever. Other dishes we tried include, chefs pie of the day, beef and onion, just yummm, and the rabbit with gnocchi. The service was some of the best for a pic, pleasant, professional and very efficient. The pub its self is stunning with two open fires inside massive barrels, chandeliers made out of vine bottle. Highly recommend a stop here if you are in the area and book if you wish to eat.”
