This is a really great Italian restaurant. The food is so fresh. The pasta is wonderful. The prawns in tomato sauce are delightful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit.

Olive garden continues to be THE best Italian in the area. The food is always fantastic and I come about once a month so have had plenty of the dishes. The service is always amazing, the staff are always welcoming and accommodating. Forever will be one of my all time favourite restaurants and I could not recommend it enough. 🩷

I recently visited this restaurant for lunch with friends, the restaurant is incredibly spacious, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The decor and vibe were on point. The staff was super friendly, and we were served incredibly quickly. The food was absolutely delicious! I even checked out the menu before leaving and already know what I’m going to try next time. This is definitely a spot I’ll be recommending to friends and family!

Meal for 4 yesterday, great service, food was good, tomato soup for starter, cheese and onion pie for main. The small portion of veg with the main was undercooked unfortunately but the cheese and onion pie was pretty good. Thought it was quite expensive for pub grub but everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Popped in for lunch today. As usual, Janet, Tony and the team were as welcoming and efficient as always. love the atmosphere in this lovely pub. Ordered the steak and ale pie, and it was delicious. Would recommend that you give it a try, it’s the perfect yummy comfort food. The Boars Head never disappoints and I love visiting. 😃

Head and shoulders above a lot of pubs for service, dog friendliness, cleanliness and food quality. Been twice now with a party of 6 never had a bad meal. This is a lot better than pub grub but without all the pretentiousness. The sirloin cut like butter! We need some pubs like this is the south of Wigan instead of Standish hogging them all haha

Hoping to put this on our shortlist of venues for a special meal /drink for a important event in our lives found it a bit dark and uninviting , waited 35 mins for our meal,beer choice for me wasn't great and my meal was a let down ( partners was good she said) steak and kidney pudding should have soft suet pastry not a rock hard can't get your knife through it shell .. go easy on the microwave warm up chef keep your eye on the timer ..when asked was ' everything OK informed the young lady no and of the problem let's see if it gets back to the kitchen team Will probably again .. as I can see it could be really good

Had a very enjoyable birthday lunch. Lovely table. Our server, I think her name was Iwa, Couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and professional. She was a delight. All four of us really enjoyed our food, which arrived beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. Food came out from the kitchen piping hot with no delays. Absolutely delicious! Our daughter’s 25th birthday, we’ve been a couple of times before, thoroughly enjoyed our evening! Mike T was our server, he looked after us really well, so friendly & helpful, a credit to Albert’s. The food was lovely, well cooked & tasty, although the duck spring roll was a little small for a starter, the ham hock terrine was yummy! Fish & chips was ample, as was my daughter’s Moules Frites! One of her favourite dishes, so a happy girl. Desserts were nice to finish off, although I do wish I’d had the profiterole, it looked really nice, my daughter said it was. This is one of the nicest, if not the nicest set menu Albert’s has offered. The atmosphere is fab & such a nice place to sit & chat whilst enjoying the lovely food. Thank you for a lovely evening, we will be back 😊

An excellent New Year’s Day meal this evening. The surroundings are perfect, and the restaurant is beautiful with everything wonderfully presented. Our food was superb—10 out of 10. The service from Jack was outstanding; he recommended excellent dishes and paced our meal perfectly. We will definitely be returning. A big thank you to Jack and all the staff at Albert’s Standish!

Amazing place. Great home cooked food in a traditional old building. Had the Cumberland ring with mash and peppercorn sauce and my partner had the lasagne. Both were gorgeous. We had the cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding and they were amazing too. £56 for two mains, two desserts and three soft drinks. That’s excellent value in my opinion and will be going back.

Popped in tonight as just passing by on way elsewhere for food but took a chance and very glad we did. Had the Sunday roast beef and it was quite probably best Sunday dinner ever in a rustic old fascinating pub building. Hot roast, amazing creamy mash, succulent tender roast beef and REAL gravy. Thick, hot and tasty. Great Yorkshire too. Amazing old historic building. Thanks for seating us. Staff were lovely too. Thank you. Homemade apple and cinnamon crumble with hot custard was amazing too. Clearly a great chef with pride in their food.

Great food well priced and good service

Came in today last minute because my usual place was closed (the audacity) First of all when we rang, the lady on the phone was lovely. Then when he got here our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, Amy, she definitely earned her wage and then some (my mothers words).. We love it when people look like they enjoy their job, and actually work rather than procrastinating. Check backs timed perfectly too. The food was a whole other story. Impeccable and we couldn't even eat it all, presented aesthetically too. The whole place has a nice country pub feel. Easy going to be our new regular!

Superb 3 course meal. Food was divine and plenty of it. Nice breather between courses and tables cleared quickly each time. Staff worked very hard and chatted and laughed with us. Can't fault anything. At all.

We’ve visited for lunch and drinks before but this was our first evening visit. Really impressed by the quality of the food, and thought it was reasonably priced. We did feel a bit rushed by the person serving us though.

It's okay but can get a bit cramped in there, atmosphere is good and the staff are lovely. My partner was so pleased they had Guinness on tap as well.

We went as a party of 9, on the 21st December. The staff were very attentive and friendly, I am going to give the food and service 5 stars, the Christmas menu was excellent and the price was excellent x 😋 😊 I would and have already recommended to friends and family.

Just been for a gathering with my ladies abd can honestly say it is the best pub grub I have gad. All made from scratch, food tasted amazing and service was excellent. Will definitely going back abd have already recommended it to family for our next meal out.

Went to our Christmas do here on Friday night and the service was spot on! 26 of us ate, drank and had a fab time. The food came out hot and prompt, but not too quickly that we felt rushed. The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldn't fault a thing. Well done to you all and merry Christmas!

Went in last night with the family. Can't fault it nice food, the kids loved it. I had chilli con carne and it was decent. My wife had the burger which to be fair was outstanding. My mother in law had some pasta and she was happy. I've not been here since the eat out to help out but I'll certainly be coming back. Thanks very much.

2nd time we've been, 1st time was good, this time was excellent. Portion sizes are spot on, Staff are polite and friendly. efficient, courteous, and well presented. Food was delicious. Well priced. They're doing a special at the moment, starter and main for £13.95, the couple next to us went for that option. There food looked excellent too. Will definitely visit again. 5 stars..

Beautiful venue with stunning atmosphere and views. Menu looks amazing and food was really nice however as a vegan there was very limited options. More vegan options would be great including a vegan dessert option as there was none. But for non vegans this place would be wonderful for all occasions and you'd love the food. Looks especially nice at Christmas there! Please consider accomodating vegans more. Would definitely come back if there was more options!

Great Sunday menu with enough choice so that you can have what you fancy at a special low price for Sunday dinner

Food wasn't great but it isn't a food pub. As a local straight forward boozer it's great. Good selection of well priced drinks, good service, clean and nicely decorated. Lovely and warm with a local atmosphere. Would have given it 5 stars if we hadn't eaten

Had their firecrackers chicken. Right amount of spicy. Chicken is cooked perfectly and served in massive chunks. Service was on the medium to slow side. Portions are very massive. Overall I'm happy with the food

Secluded, Fantastic, slightly upmarket feeling pub/gastropub. Renovated in recent years. Fantastic value for money. Very cosy, large menu with both typical pub and higher quality food. Big bar, loads of beers and harder stuff. Quick service. Great and friendly staff. Awesome outdoor rear areas with great shady or sunny spots. Smallish private, high quality car park to rear, with narrow entrance. Highly recommended going for lunch during a quiet day when it's not crowded.
