Really nice experience. The decor inside was very appealing and comfortable. Went for the 3 course set menu and the food was very well presented and had a lot of flavour. Waiters/waitresses polite and attentive. Will recommend to friends/family.

Oh my! ♥ What a magical experience visiting The Clockspire was. Where do I begin to describe the care and detail oozing from both the staff and the food, it truly is clear to see, even the toilet hand towels were folded beautifully! We decided to opt for an expensive treat due to a special birthday, but the restaurant also offers a very affordable day menu, so I would recommend for both a stunning meal out and for celebrating occasions.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and delicious dining experience at the Clockspire Restaurant this evening. Food was excellent along with the service. The old school building has been beautifully restored and creates a delightful surrounding and atmosphere, complimenting the whole experience. This has just become my favorite restaurant. We shall return.

Oak Barn at Wooden Cabbage

Rating: 5 (20) Price Level:

Our stay at Wooden Cabbage was absolutely perfect - from the breathtaking views and gorgeous setting to the hosts who made our stay so unique and special with delicious breakfasts every morning in the most beautiful room over looking their garden, Martyn and Susie really went out of there way - they were so kind and gave us fantastic dinner recommendations and helpful tips. We were so sad to leave their heavenly home and cannot wait to visit again soon.

This was by far one of the best B&B's I've ever stayed in! Martin & Susie went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and well-taken care of. The location is gorgeous, stunning scenery all round (the views from the bedroom & breakfast area took my breath away) and it's perfectly positioned for day trips to explore more of the English countryside. Breakfast was an absolute feast! Everything is homemade and delicious. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and to crossing paths with these delightful hosts again.

We had an amazing time at the Wooden Cabbage. The location was idyllic, with stunning views of the countryside. The gardens were beautiful with lovely sunsets. Hosts Susie and Martyn were brilliant. Very welcoming, accommodating and helpful. Also Susie's raspberry jam, variety of compotes and home made granola, which we had at breakfast were truly delicious! Rooms were clean and comfortable with all necessary amenities. The surrounding area has plenty to do and see, with great restaurants nearby. We will definitely be returning!

The only thing to grumble about was that there was nothing to grumble about. Nothing. On the other hand the hosts were interesting, interested, and hospitable, the breakfast was excellent, the house interior full of interesting pictuures, objets, and great plants. The garden was Chelsea standard and the views spectacular. Very special. Thanks.

Lovely place to stay. Food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The one thing that I would of appreciated (as an older lady) would of been a bath mat in a very slippy bath. Fabulous, would certainly visit again.

Yalbury Cottage is a place where excellence, friendliness, and quality come together seamlessly. As someone who loves travelling and exploring new cities and places, I have stayed in numerous accommodations, but none compare to Yalbury Cottage. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning to the area. The staff at Yalbury Cottage consistently went out of their way to be friendly and did everything possible to ensure our stay was exceptional. The room exceeded my expectations significantly, with its stunning and unique view. We truly felt as if we were at home, but in a setting with beautiful new scenery. Situated in Dorchester, Yalbury Cottage offers a perfect base to explore the area and nearby cities such as Weymouth. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, have recommended this place to others, and will continue to do so. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything was spotlessly and well-organised. Additionally, the thoughtful touch of leaving brownies in our room upon arrival exemplifies their dedication to Yalbury Cottage and their commitment to providing each guest with an exceptional experience. I personally can't wait to return to this charming cottage for another uniquely wonderful stay.

Il Nodo

Rating: 4.8 (38) Price Level:

Genuine Italian warmth and hospitality in Dorchester! I went with my Mum and boyfriend and we all had a fantastic meal and loved the atmosphere. The waitresses and chef were very welcoming and the chef even came out to offer my Mum some choices for the vegan option that evening. It's a small menu with everything cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back soon!

Great food. Great service. Really good to see something of this quality in Dorchester. I don’t know if management will ever see this, but my ONLY negative would be to dim the lights in the evening. It would really improve the atmosphere if they were turned down to create a more intimate space.

Decided to give it a go on our holiday as we wanted to avoid the chain restaurants nearby. Very glad we did. Waiters fell over backwards trying to help and make sure everything was okay! Mussels weee delicious, the ravioli even better and the dessert was perfect too! Wonderful atmosphere and a great place to eat

We went for lunch as a party of 6. We had pre booked because it was the Christmas season. We were greeted by a very friendly member of the team. Shown to our table, allowed to settle, then had our drinks order taken and then shortly after that we had our meal order's taken by another charming team member. We didn't have to wait very long until all of our food was brought to the table. We had a gluten free option, a vegetarian option and 4 meals and starters off the Special menu. Every meal was beautifully cooked and presented. We had a really lovely time and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Came here for a lunch meal as a surprise birthday party, and can't praise the restaurant enough. The food was lovely, and they managed a large group very well. I've been to other places before as a large group and it has been a disaster, so it was really nice to see how well this place handled the 23 of us. If I lived closer, I'd definitely be back more often!

Very cozy place! Had a table booked for 12:15 but showed up an hour early, we still were friendly welcomed and enjoyed a coffee and a pot of tea in the cozy sunny spot inside before we could order our lunch. Great selection and daily specials. We had a Camembert with sourdough to share and two starters as small Mains, salmon fish pie with cream cheese and watercress, breadcrumb battered feta with caramellised figs and honey glaze and two portions of chips. We even got the aioli requested from another main to dip the chips in! As dessert we shared grilled plums.. all very lovely presented. We were absolutely stuffed, even we had no breakfast and no mains! Two drinks. Card payment didn't work for ages and stuff was very helpful and patient!! We spent 3 lovely hours in here with delicious food for a very reasonable price!! Recommended!!

Fabulous gastro pub. We enjoyed the food so much we went there for a second evening whilst staying overnight locally. Really good value for money with generous portion sizes 😁 If you have the fish Friday, which includes a drink, you need to ask, which ones are included before ordering. We didn't realize that at the time and ordered drinks that weren't included.

Selfishly I would like to keep this little gem to myself so that I can always go when I want but in the spirit of generosity (and because these guys are so brilliant) I felt I needed to leave a review. All of it is outstanding - the food, the service, the ambience, the wine - and I’m a hard person to please! I have been for a quick soup and a sandwich, full-blown Sunday roast and a mid-week supper. All superb, freshly prepared food. Yes, maybe slightly pricier than other pubs, but if top quality food and a genuinely friendly service is your priority this is the place to come!

Absolutely amazing roast and I’ve eaten a lot of roasts!! Huge portions and the meal included cauliflower cheese at no extra cost. Lovely pub garden in a beautiful little village. A fantastic pub, clean, friendly, lovely atmosphere. The garden is sheltered with plenty of seating. Dog friendly. Booking is reccomendationed. The menu is varied with plenty of choice for all dietary requirements. Along with sharing platters. The staff are attentive and friendly. The pub is historical. The old post office has been integrated into the front lounge area. If you love your Sunday lunch, book early as you won't get a seat.

I can firmly recommend this restaurant. We came here for a dinner and were very surprised. Everything was exceptionally tasty and very well decorated. Service was fast, the waitresses were all friendly. The food took a while but the place was full. We sat in the dog friendly garden. We had three starters to share, prawns, the cauliflower and BBQ pulled pork. Especially the cauliflower was awesome. To the point. Lots of spices, great sauce, spicy. The fries were crisp even covered with sauce. We then shared the fish curry. Another surprise. Also spicy, the rice was perfect, crisp vegetables and a delightful sauce over the shrimps, the fish and the mussels which were outstanding huge. The prices for such high quality are very OK. The negative reviews could be explained by the season. We were told that during summer vacation the near campground is flooded with people who then also flood this place.

Patrick and Claire are the perfect hosts. We booked a room which was very comfortable and had all we needed for a relaxing evening and good night’s sleep. Dining was superb - dinner and breakfast were cooked to perfection. There’s also a beautiful garden to sit in and have a drink with friends or alone with a good book. We spent our evening sitting in big comfy couches in an upper room with our very dear friends and our beverages of choice. Thank you Patrick and Claire for a most remarkable and memorable stay.

Rating for food only / bar service only. Always been good since I have been here. This evening I went with my 3 year old as she wanted whitebait, and she loved them, gobbled up the whole plate. I visited for a Sunday carvery with my family and from the moment we stepped through the front door everything was spot on. The service is impeccable and the food superb. What made the service extra special was that my mother was sadly unable to be there at the last minute, however the Pen Mill staff were amazing and arranged a takeway caevery meal plated up even with a pot of gravy. We took it back home and my mother was extremely grateful. A brilliant piece of customer service which was the cherry on an already delicious cake. Well done to everyone.
