“This is the best pub we have been to in years. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, the food was impeccable and our doggy had a lovely snooze after a long day of walking. If you’re visiting the area make sure you book ahead to secure a table at this place for a meal! I had both the specials, poached mussels for starters and crab linguine for main. These were absolutely gorgeous in both flavour and presentation. The portions were very generous with plenty of mussel and crab meat. My husband had the pie of the day and mash (steak and ale) which he rated very highly. We shared a chocolate brownie for pudding which was melt in the mouth decadent. Even the little details like the properly made chocolate sauce and garnishes were spot on! But the whole experience was wrapped together with a nice bow thanks to the cosy atmosphere and the very attentive team who made us feel welcome and valued as customers. The manager was even dishing out dog treats to the four legged customers in the bar area, and this on a busy Saturday dinner sitting. Can’t rate this place highly enough, and will be back for sure next time we’re in the area! Thank you Thimble Inn! ”

“So I went today for a carvery with hubby and friends after visiting Weymouth motor cross on a cold and windy day. However we found this beautiful pub and hat a wonderful little find we found. Stunning views location is divine. We were greeted by the landlord who provided a warm welcome at the entrance who showed us to our table. His lovely wife then came over who introduced herself what wonderful customer service. We were delighted to be handed a choice of menus and all table service which is absolutely fantastic. The team were all very good and such polite staff all round. It’s nice to have your drinks brought to the table and not expected to go to the bar as precious time chatting with family and friends is precious. Can’t wait to come back we travelled from Southampton today and will travel again”

“Lovely country pub. Classic thatched roof and covered in vines and lots of atmosphere inside the pub. The bar maid was training a new person while we were there, and she was patient and thoughtful. There were about 5 dogs sitting quietly during lunch, and the atmosphere was great. The food was excellent, as was the beer.”

“Located at the end of a primarily single track lane, you'll find this charming pub. If arriving between 2pm and 6pm the owners will give you instruction how to access your room. Starting with the accomodation - the bed was larger than average and exceptionally comfortable. A couple of very tasty homemade biscuits awaited us on the room's serving tray. How lovely! Tea and coffee also in the room, however the milk is kept in the fridge at the bottom of a very short corridor. Disappointingly, one of our folded 'clean' large towels was still dirty, and whilst not affecting us personally it may be worth noting that the shower cubicle is on the smaller side with an older model Mira shower. You'll need to turn the main dial to the left, and the water temperature reaches hot almost instantly. We'd booked an evening meal for 6.30pm, and whilst the dining area was pretty empty at this point within an hour it was full. My meal was heavenly, I cannot praise it enough - a starter of salt & pepper squid on a garlic and lime mayonnaise, a main of sticky beef with rice and an Indonesian-style salad. Absolutely amazing! Breakfast was wonderful too - a small selection of cereals (Weetabix, Alpen or Cornflakes), with the option of pre-prepaired chopped fruits and natural yogurt; followed by a full English. I'd definitely recommend a visit to this pub if you don't mind a drive down a narrow lane -you'll probably not find a more tranquil location.”
