“Made so welcome with our puppy on a really wet, windy Sunday. We were wet, the puppy was trying hard to be good. The Big Stur breakfast was epic. Filling and great ingredients. The plate was swept clean. Generous portions for the hungry traveller. Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff. They cared for us. We will be back.”

“We stopped in while visiting from America. I would consider the White House to be an upscale pub. The ambience is great! Lots of stone and heavy wooden beams. There were lots of locals there when we were there which is always a good sign. The staff was wonderful! The food was truly excellent! Every starter and entree was done to perfection! If we lived in the area we would be here often!”

The cafe is named for its proximity to the former homes of Thomas Hardy and William Barnes among others and its current poet in Residence David Caddy. Best Kebab & Pizza | Sturminster Newton

“Wow. Definitely the best Kabab in Stur. Ordered online when leaving work, and picked up 15 minutes later. The Kabab is 300% better then the clock house. Presented correctly, pitta on the bottom, loads of meet, which is so moist. Then topped with lots of fresh salad. The chill sauce with enough to add heat, and the garlic sauce was enough to add sweetness. Price for a XL was really good. I'll definitely be back for more.. Maybe the burgers next.”
