What a lovely new cafe. My wife heard it had recently opened so this afternoon we popped in with our sons to give a try. Well ! What a welcoming atmosphere. Clean, tidy, reasonably price food and drinks. An easy to read menu, uncomplicated. Plenty of seating and parking. Plus two lovely, friendly women. I thoroughly recommend you give a try. We certainly will return.

Lovely place to stay. Food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The one thing that I would of appreciated (as an older lady) would of been a bath mat in a very slippy bath. Fabulous, would certainly visit again.

Yalbury Cottage is a place where excellence, friendliness, and quality come together seamlessly. As someone who loves travelling and exploring new cities and places, I have stayed in numerous accommodations, but none compare to Yalbury Cottage. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning to the area. The staff at Yalbury Cottage consistently went out of their way to be friendly and did everything possible to ensure our stay was exceptional. The room exceeded my expectations significantly, with its stunning and unique view. We truly felt as if we were at home, but in a setting with beautiful new scenery. Situated in Dorchester, Yalbury Cottage offers a perfect base to explore the area and nearby cities such as Weymouth. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, have recommended this place to others, and will continue to do so. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything was spotlessly and well-organised. Additionally, the thoughtful touch of leaving brownies in our room upon arrival exemplifies their dedication to Yalbury Cottage and their commitment to providing each guest with an exceptional experience. I personally can't wait to return to this charming cottage for another uniquely wonderful stay.

Fantastic breakfast butty! Well cooked, tasty & very good value. A lovely spot to stop off at, plenty of parking, picnic tables & very friendly people. Homemade cake, and local jams & chutneys too. Definitely the best road side cafe!

Food is well priced and thereā€™s a great selection to choose from. Portion consistency varies depending on whoā€™s working. Quality consistent though. Example, bought the wife the Brie and bacon panini six weeks or so ago was packed with Brie and bacon she liked it so much that she asked for it this time. It was a little skinny, letā€™s say, but still tasty!

This lovely little road side cafe cooks the most wonderful tasty burgers locally sourced ingredients and lovely buns. My 1/4lb cheese burger was Ā£4.9 my husband's sausage bap was Ā£4.4 flat white coffee is Ā£3 which was very good. We ate in our car as it was raining and the tables were outside. Worth the extra 3 miles down the road from the local McDonalds. There is a block of toilets next door but they are very basic. They also sell locally produced eggs jams etc

Had a lovely stay here with my.wife. We traveled down for a 2 night stay and were made to feel so welcome by the owners. The chalets were comfortable and quiet and as huge animal lovers, the free roaming Guinea pigs were the icing on the cake. Thank you for being such great hosts.

Terrific pub with a really dedicated owner/ landlord. So much effort has been made to create several different areas where one can eat and / or drink. It's a large building with a cosy front bar and a very pleasant conservatory. Upstairs is a library where food and drinks can be taken. Very smart! Various outdoor seating places and 2 verandas There are chalets to stay in, too. Food is homemade and of good quality. Good ingredients and large portions. Very reasonable prices. Good beer and other drinks. Regulars are very friendly and good fun. Good welcoming atmosphere, too. It's very clean, and all areas are well maintained as well as being interesting to be in. The landlord is really friendly and helpful. Just one sad note, it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays out of season. The village is rural and small. However, it's very pretty and the pub is definitely worth the trip!!! Highly recommend and will stay there if we return to the area. Thanks to everyone who made us feel happy to be there!'

Seven Stars

Rating: 4.6 (203) Price Level:

Very fresh selection of seafood. Generous portions too. Had the white bait, the cod fish and chips as well as the mussels. Very impressed by the freshness and quality. Batter for the cod is very light and crisp. The cod was delicious and had the right texture, and ratio of cod:batter. The black mussels were very sweet and I enjoyed it very much when paired with fresh bread. Service was very organised. All in all a great experience and Iā€™d definitely bring my friends here when we drive down to the south coast again.

What a wonderful experience visiting the Seven Stars Inn Wool, Moreton, Dorchester restaurant. The food was first class cooked with love and care by a really good head chef and his brigade. Couldn't fault the food in any way what so ever good flavours, textures and presented very well. A really great dining experience which I will remember for a long time. The front of house staff very very friendly, professional providing a great service to compliment the kitchen Definitely worthy of a 5 star review and I would definitely recommend visiting this wonderful restaurant and I hope I will be back here myself.

It was amazing. The dinner was really yummy. Huge portion, we had the steal & ale pie with chips and veggies. The meat was sooo tender, juicy and full of flavour. We stayed for one night in the little rooms they have in their fields. Very cozy and cute. Clean toilets and the shower was working really well. A nice warm bath after a hike to the beach. Breakfast was included, a nice english breakfast. I loved the sausages, very flavourfull. We had some tea or a coffee plus the Orange juice. I asked the staff if we could feed the pigs some apples that were in the floor and she said yes, very cute piggies! The staff is very kind and helpfull.

I recently visited the Seven Stars Inn, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The staff and their service were outstanding, making me feel truly welcomed with their warmth and attentiveness. I ordered a chicken curry meal, chips, and wings as a takeaway, and as an Indian, I was amazed by the flavorsā€”it was so delicious that I almost fell in love with the food. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for amazing hospitality paired with excellent cuisine!

The Royal Oak

6 Dorchester Hill, Milborne St Andrew, Blandford Forum DT11 0JG, UK | Pub
P: 01258 837248

Rating: 4.7 (830) Price Level:

I have driven past this pub on more occasions than I could probably mention and always said must try that one. Well today was the day and so pleased that I did! I can honestly say this was one of the best (if not the best) pub food I have ever had. Our table of four all had different dishes and every single one was outstanding quality with a generous portion. Personally I opted for the ploughman's asking for it without the meat element which wasn't a problem at all. An excellent selection, fresh and tasty. I would highly recommend booking, even for lunch, as it was busy, and it's really not surprising why. The service was friendly and a good pub atmosphere made it a great experience and all at a fair price too. This will most definitely not be the last visit to this highly recommended Dorset pub. If you haven't been then add it to your 'must visit' list, but don't leave it as long as I did.

We went there yesterday as a group of 15 and they were absolutely brilliant. We had the skittle alley to ourselves so the kids could play with the selection of toys in there which worked perfectly. We had a variety of meals across the table and everyone said how delicious it was. The pork belly bites as a starter were a definite stand out. Thank you to all the lovely team who served us.

A Dorset gem. I've only ever had the Sunday Carvery here because it's fantastic value (Ā£14.50) and absolutely delicious. I always end up asking for a box so there is bubble and squeak to go home with! The staff are great and friendly. I'd say this is a proper pub and Sunday lunch experience! Booking very much recommended they are popular.

The pubs staff were friendly and funny, not just robots and also not too cheeky it becomes weird. The portions were the size youd give yourself at a buffet. The price was fine. And the menu had a decent selection. I had the pie and it almost had more stake than my girlfriends ribeye. Highly recommend.

Selfishly I would like to keep this little gem to myself so that I can always go when I want but in the spirit of generosity (and because these guys are so brilliant) I felt I needed to leave a review. All of it is outstanding - the food, the service, the ambience, the wine - and Iā€™m a hard person to please! I have been for a quick soup and a sandwich, full-blown Sunday roast and a mid-week supper. All superb, freshly prepared food. Yes, maybe slightly pricier than other pubs, but if top quality food and a genuinely friendly service is your priority this is the place to come!

Fabulous gastro pub. We enjoyed the food so much we went there for a second evening whilst staying overnight locally. Really good value for money with generous portion sizes šŸ˜ If you have the fish Friday, which includes a drink, you need to ask, which ones are included before ordering. We didn't realize that at the time and ordered drinks that weren't included.

Very cozy place! Had a table booked for 12:15 but showed up an hour early, we still were friendly welcomed and enjoyed a coffee and a pot of tea in the cozy sunny spot inside before we could order our lunch. Great selection and daily specials. We had a Camembert with sourdough to share and two starters as small Mains, salmon fish pie with cream cheese and watercress, breadcrumb battered feta with caramellised figs and honey glaze and two portions of chips. We even got the aioli requested from another main to dip the chips in! As dessert we shared grilled plums.. all very lovely presented. We were absolutely stuffed, even we had no breakfast and no mains! Two drinks. Card payment didn't work for ages and stuff was very helpful and patient!! We spent 3 lovely hours in here with delicious food for a very reasonable price!! Recommended!!

Recently visited this tudor house and gardens. The weather had not been in our favour but had stopped raining for our visit so we walked the gardens first before entering the house. A little overcast but the gardens were still beautiful for our walk round. The house is very picturess and in very good order. You can wander around at your own leisure with loads of interesting things to read and see. It was quite nice as their wernt loads of visitors at one time so you didn't feel rushed. All staff were extremely friendly and polite. The lady on reception was very polite and also we were given a warm welcome in the restaurant where we had some delightful sandwiches and perfectly made lattes. A very intresting place to stop with the added great customer service. Thankyou all.

Such a beautiful property and the gardens were stunning, even in October. Highly recommend a visit here. There are lots of rooms to explore in the house and make sure you watch the videos to learn about the restoration too. I didn't visit the cafe but I did buy some local foods from the shop; there's a nice little selection.
