Cracking little village pub, we popped in for a few drinks with friends and had a great time, we sat in the garden in the sun and it was extremely pleasant. Will be going back for some food in the future.

We stopped in while visiting from America. I would consider the White House to be an upscale pub. The ambience is great! Lots of stone and heavy wooden beams. There were lots of locals there when we were there which is always a good sign. The staff was wonderful! The food was truly excellent! Every starter and entree was done to perfection! If we lived in the area we would be here often!

Wonderful birthday dinner. Lamb Scrumpit, Tuna Carpaccio, Pork Belly, Dorset Crab Linguine, Tiramisu (a little heavy for my preference, but still delicious) and Cheese and crackers. We’ll be back!

We really enjoyed a private 'Sip & See' party at Breezy Ridge for a few hours in the afternoon. Lovely spacious venue which catered for our needs - tea/coffee/Prosecco/cake. Lots of parking and friendly and helpful staff. Thank you!

We were in the area and stopped by this lovely vineyard restaurant for dinner. The food was delicious, the sparkling wine was lovely and the service was friendly. The food was tapas style. My favourites were the croquettes (we tried ham and crab) as well as the tomato and mozzarella salad. Highly recommend.

I can't thank the team at Breezy Ridge enough for all their efforts to make a Maid of Honour proposal go smoothly! Becky's communications were fab prior to the evening and everyone was on board to make sure the dinner went ahead without a hitch. The food is fantastic and the place is a real asset to the local area, there aren't many places like this around without having to travel quite far out. The team are super friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and wonderfully intimate. I can't wait to come back!

Beautiful. Lovely part of the countryside and the owners are lovely friendly people. This is not your typical b&b, there is a great atmosphere and lots of history just scattered about. They restore some amazing classic cars nearby so if your into that then you won't get bored. The location is great and central to lots of interesting places to visit around Dorset.

Tim and Lucy are excellent hosts and really look after you while staying. We had the shepherds huts in their big open field and all of the family really enjoyed it. Very comfy and the old silo barbecue is excellent. Wonderful to see the kids interact with the animals and just be free for a few days. Great place for a break.

We've done a lot of glamping in the UK, and found this independent site to be up there with the best. The hosts were fantastic, the accommodation extremely comfortable and the facilities among the best. Bonus points for the best outdoor hot tub we've had.

Really lovely tiny wee place. I'monly 5'1" so was able to 'just' walk easily through the door into the downstairs area, but my taller friend had to really duck, until we sat down 😆. Perfect coffee made just the way I asked (twice.. we were in there chatting for 2hrs!)... and then we went back again for lunch! The food was awesome.

Everything taste amazing! Huge selection of cakes, specialty coffees, proper pies, but also salads and lighter fare. We had the chicken, ham and leek pie with reduced red wine onion gravy, lime and blueberry and maple, pumpkin and chai cakes. But it was very difficult to choose off the menu. The atmosphere is quaint and cosy with plenty of seating and happy, warm people on staff to serve. You’d be crazy not to stop here when in Shaftesbury!

If you would like to have a delicious variety of food and desserts wrapped in a dog friendly welcoming, relaxed atmosphere topped with an amazing customer service - this is the perfect place! The also have Vegan and Gluten free options :-) We were served by Renata (the owner) , a lovely woman that definitely understands the importance of having the knowledge of the ingredients in the different dishes and the attention coffee beans needs to be able to produce the perfect cup of coffee. We highly recommend to give the King Alfred’s kitchen a visit as it’s 5* in every way!!!

Excellent lunch with different options and not your usual choices either. They do a set menu with 2 or 3 courses as an option. I chose off the normal menu and had aubergine stuffed with a side of fries very good portion and very flavoursome. The other person did the same and had a fishcake, which was much enjoyed. We shared a pudding of poached figs, which again was delicious. Would recommend it and I will return

The Saxon Inn Child Okeford

Gold Hill, Child Okeford, Blandford Forum DT11 8HD, UK | Pub
P: 01258 860310

Rating: 4.6 (298) Price Level:

This pub is the perfect balance of upmarket/boutique and having a homely feel. The food is outstanding quality, and our waiting staff (Minty) was excellently attentive. It was our first time there, for a romantic Saturday night date. This place did not disappoint. Plenty of car parking space. The finer details were beautiful - candles and fairy lights everywhere, water jug filled at every table, salt and pepper holders filled, a fluffy throw behind my chair, heating on, music on but not too loud. Our bill was £78, for two courses and a bottle of wine. Overall, a really fantastic pub!

The Saxon Inn has become our favourite pub! We've enjoyed many lovely meals there, from Sunday roasts to delicious evening dishes. It’s the perfect spot to relax after a country walk, especially on sunny days when we can sit outside with our dogs and enjoy a drink or by the fire with some bar snacks. It’s always so welcoming, excellent service, and tasty food - couldn’t recommend it more!

The Saxon Inn was quite a surprise - in a good way! We had been given mixed reviews about the restaurant but we found it warm, attractive and the food was exceptional. The staff were extremely friendly and the lady head chef/owner came out and had a chat with each table and some of the locals as well.

The Saxon Inn is a truly beautiful country inn, full of charm and character. Each little area, corner and nook is styled and curated to perfection, and the special little attention to details really elevates this place above what you'd normally expect from a country inn. Every turn reveals an almost lnstagrammable moment you'd want to capture. The welcome from the hosts Sarah and Richard couldn't have been more friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They really were consummate hosts and you could just tell they'd put their heart and soul into place and genuinely cared that their customers not only enjoyed their stay, but loved their stay. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast in the morning was delicious and the fresh fruit and doorstep toast was amazing. Real coffee, real butter, and locally sourced products made this a breakfast to remember. My partner and I didn't have an evening meal at the Inn when we arrived but really regretted it when we tasted the breakfast the following morning. To add even more character to the place, the Saxon Inn also has two other permanent residents, the beautifully-docile and aloof Reggie (a gorgeous whippet), and Herman , an independent little dachshund who parades around wearing a bandana. Overall, it's a superb place to stay and eat. We'd highly recommend it.

Rating: 4.6 (694) Price Level:

Lovely traditional pub with a wide range of beer and good food. We visited on a Thursday evening and it was pretty busy. I think it is one of the only pubs in Stourpaine, but service was great and the food was lovely. I had the steak pudding and chips, which I've not had for years but it was gorgeous. My wife had ham, egg and chips, which again she said tasted delicious. The pub has a whole raft of service mens hats dotted throughout the place and has had a visit by King Charles when he was a prince. Lovely place, well worth a visit.

As you can see from our photos from our evening meals they were delicious, they were presented well and they tasted fantastic. Well worth the money we paid and the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It's also dog friendly and our dog loved it as well. Do not miss out when visiting Stourpaine.

Our first time at The Fleur De Lys for dinner. From the moment we set foot in this small hotel, all was perfect. We were shown to the bar where we had aperitifs, then to our table . We all had different starters and mains; all were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented! The service and atmosphere was low key yet excellent.
