Sixpenny Brewery Ltd
Holwell Farm, Wimborne BH21 5QP, UK

“Just visited the Tap Room of Sixpenny Brewery and was highly impressed. Excellent real ales served in a small bar area that oozes atmosphere. There is also the possibility of having equally good pizzas from the adjacent bakery. Plenty of parking space and a large forecourt for eating outside if preferred. Add to the above a jolly and welcoming service with dogs welcome and this venue is highly recommended!”

“Visiting the UK from the US for a couple weeks. The Royal Oak was in our list of places to visit due to seeing it featured in James May's content for some time now. Our experience dining at the pub was absolutely wonderful. We were promptly seated in the beautiful oak room after arriving for our reservation. The Christmas decor was tasteful and added to the pub's already cozy ambiance. The gin and tonic I had (with James Gin Asian Parsnip, of course) was fantastic, and the brisket burger was excellent. Seriously one of the best burgers I've had the pleasure of eating. The toast on the bun was perfect, the brisket was flavorful and tender, and the bacon was nicely cooked. My only disappointment is that I live 5000 miles away, otherwise I'd consider myself a regular at The Royal Oak.”

“The site is lovely, very clean and well appointed and good value for money. But the best part is the onsite restaurant and bar. Not only is is great value, but the food is superb, just look at the T-bone steak. This was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My wife’s duck was nicely cooked and seasoned. The Eaton mess was probably one of the tastiest we’ve ever had. Apparently the Sunday Roast is amazing, so we’ve booked our table and will post a review regarding this. The restaurant is open to none residents, Wednesday night is Steak Night!”

“Wonderful pub with pleasant family atmosphere. Food good but on the expensive side. If the restaurant is fully booked then a table at the bar is fine. The staff were excellent. Isabella in particular was bright and anticipated all our needs before we even asked. And Jane, the manager, really pleasant to deal with. Cannot recommend highly enough.”

“4 of us had dinner at a the Museum last night. It was all excellent - the ambience, the catering and the staff. Alex, Julia and Georgie went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed. Thank you. Fabulous food too so many thanks to the chef as well. King John Inn

“Having decided to spend Christmas away from home, we found the King John Inn which fulfilled our criteria: a comfortable room for four nights, dog friendly, and a good Christmas lunch. Just before we left home we received a welcome call. On arrival, we received a very warm welcome, including a treat for our dog. We were shown to a lovely big room with huge bathroom, which proved to be extremely comfortable - including the supersize bed. Facilities included ground coffee for a cafetière and specialist black tea and a small thermos of fresh milk. Brilliant. We dined in on our first evening. We chose only starters but added truffle and pecorino fries. Delicious. The fries were the best I’ve had anywhere. Next day we joined for breakfast. The most creative menu I’ve seen anywhere. Again, our terrier was greeted with a treat - a tasty cut up sausage. Our room was serviced whilst we were out and on return, we found a lovely big dog bed had been added to our room. On to Christmas Day lunch at the King John which was indistinguishable from a perfectly home-cooked lunch. Impressive. My only niggle was that my Christmas pud was badly burnt and too hard to cut into. I could have asked for another but I’d had consumed more than enough to eat so to complain was unnecessary on a day when all staff were very busy. So, to sum up. A delightful Christmas break in an extremely comfortable Inn with exceptional service. They definitely go above and beyond to ensure their guests have a great experience. A huge thank you to every member of staff we met and those behind the scenes. We can’t wait to return.”
