We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Gardeners Cottage at Rudge Farm at the end of July. The owners, Jason and Danielle and the staff, are extremely friendly and welcoming and will sort out any concerns you may have without any issues. They work tirelessly to keep the farm up the exceptional standard that you see. The setting is idyllic and so peaceful too. There is plenty there to keep everyone entertained from the lovely play area, the lakes including a boating lake and the beautiful nature walks. If you want even more fun there are the tennis court, the games room, a pool room and not forgetting the gorgeous goats and ducklings too. The cottage is well equipped and beautifully dressed, and we loved every minute of our stay there. It was extremely hard to leave at the end of the week. I would highly recommend Rudge Farm to all ages, and we will definitely be going back! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We had a fantastic time and was impressed with everything available to do around the site. We have been 3 times before. Our little boy of 17 months also loved everything minute especially the play house and sand pit. The views are amazing what ever the weather. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for an relaxing and enjoyable break away. The goats and sheep was certainly a bonus and enjoyable to watch. The owners was friendly and welcoming and always made time for you.

What a truly special place! Somewhere that will be in my heart forever! My wife and I knew the moment we saw this place it was the place for our wedding. The cottages are stunning, the setting is perfect and everyone there are incredible. And the privacy you feel when you are there as the hosts let you enjoy their/your space is something I've never felt anywhere else. Everyone worked tirelessly to make sure we had the perfect day and place to celebrate our wonderful day. The lake is beautiful, the animals and the abundance of play areas and activities for the children is second to none. From the honesty shop to the beautiful courtyard allowing everybody to just be together is something I will never forget.

We have just returned from our second visit to Rudge Farm and it was even better than last year. We visited lots of local beaches etc whilst staying but enjoyed coming back to Rudge Farm for the afternoons/evenings. There is so much on site to keep all ages happy - pool table, table tennis, soft play, sand pit, table football, tennis court, football pitch, boating lake and not to mention the very friendly goats that you can feed. The cottages are clean and comfortable. It’s so peaceful at night and the comfy beds mean that a good nights sleep is guaranteed. The bathroom in Orchard Cottage could do with updating but it’s functional and was fine for what we needed. It’s clear the owners are working hard to update all areas of the site so I’m sure this will be done. As hosts they were friendly and approachable and we were always made to feel very welcome. We will definitely return to Rudge Farm and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We got married at Gorwell Farm on September and we can’t recommend it enough! The most beautiful venue and surroundings, the bar was great and the cottages and campsite were ideal for our guests. We can’t wait to return as guests!

Very interesting day out. The guides were so knowledgeable and helpful. So much to see that I will need to go back to spend more time in the fantastic gardens. Bit of a walk from the car park if your mobility is not great.

We chose Gorwell for our wedding in July 2024, booking two years prior. Mary and the Team are fantastic, you can really tell that they want your big day to be a success. Mary was full of recommendations for vendors, which was amazing as it can definitely feel overwhelming. Throughout the communication was fantastic and there was no such thing as a silly question. The Farm and the cottages were fantastic and being able to get married outside under the trees was incredible. Thank you so much Mary & Family! (photos by Charlotte Stoneham Photography)

Gorwell Farm hosted our wedding (and accommodation) and was excellent from beginning to end. It’s. A beautiful, rustic venue but has been fully modernised and updated with all conveniences for a wedding whilst still retaining the rustic feel. All queries were addressed quickly and we couldn’t imagine it being any better.

Gorwell Farm was where we chose to have our wedding this summer, and we could not have chosen a more perfect location for our special day. The cottages are spacious and comfortable for the morning-of preparation, and the barn and surrounding grounds are just idyllic. It really was the perfect space for our wedding. Mary and the team were great in the run-up to the wedding and on the day. It meant we didn't have anything to worry about. Also a shout out to the bar staff who were absolutely fantastic!

Absolutely love The Lemon Tree! Friends and family have stayed in the beautiful rooms. I’ve personally enjoyed eating here, (alone or with friends), or simply enjoyed stopping for coffee and cake in this wonderful friendly place. I’ve held events here with friends, and the staff are friendly and incredibly accommodating, and always happy to listen to suggestions and feedback. Beautifully decorated in a Mediterranean style which is reflected by the menu. Highly recommend you pay them a visit!

So glad we found this place, had a really delicious breakfast with friends before driving home from our weekend away. Kind and friendly service and lovely surroundings. I've hardly stopped thinking about the Turkish breakfast and would love to come back for a stay and to try the rest of the menu!

Stopped off here by chance as we were passing and fancied coffee and cake. Wow! What a beautiful place, friendly staff, delicious cakes and coffee, we were quite disappointed that we had already had lunch as all the food looked superb. Extremely dog friendly too! Wish it was closer to where we are staying as we would definitely be back

Went for lunch 14/12/24 with a work colleague, I had the sea bass and my colleague had the roast beef. Both excellent, the bass and it's trimmings, beautiful flavour and my colleague said the roast beef was very tender. Both plentiful portions. Definitely will visit again.

We stopped to get some breakfast on our travels. Even though we were 5 minutes late past breakfast time, the ladies served us breakfast with no issues. The food was amazing and worth stopping by. I would definitely recommend people to stop and have some nice lovely food

Oh my! ♥ What a magical experience visiting The Clockspire was. Where do I begin to describe the care and detail oozing from both the staff and the food, it truly is clear to see, even the toilet hand towels were folded beautifully! We decided to opt for an expensive treat due to a special birthday, but the restaurant also offers a very affordable day menu, so I would recommend for both a stunning meal out and for celebrating occasions.

Really nice experience. The decor inside was very appealing and comfortable. Went for the 3 course set menu and the food was very well presented and had a lot of flavour. Waiters/waitresses polite and attentive. Will recommend to friends/family.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and delicious dining experience at the Clockspire Restaurant this evening. Food was excellent along with the service. The old school building has been beautifully restored and creates a delightful surrounding and atmosphere, complimenting the whole experience. This has just become my favorite restaurant. We shall return.

Rating: 4.6 (620) Price Level:
We went for lunch as a party of 6. We had pre booked because it was the Christmas season. We were greeted by a very friendly member of the team. Shown to our table, allowed to settle, then had our drinks order taken and then shortly after that we had our meal order's taken by another charming team member. We didn't have to wait very long until all of our food was brought to the table. We had a gluten free option, a vegetarian option and 4 meals and starters off the Special menu. Every meal was beautifully cooked and presented. We had a really lovely time and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Pub dinner- Just returned from the new inn pub. First visit, but not our last for sure. 3 x diners all left very pleased with the venue, great staff, and excellent menu. We had Angus burger and lamb burger, and we all enjoyed them. Very tasty and filling. Thank you.

Only ate, didn’t stay. A fantastic location in a lovely village. There were 15 of us; the food was outstanding, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be eating at The New Inn again.

We didn't stay at the New Inn, but we did have a large family Christmas lunch. The food was delicious; the service was fun, attentive, and professional. The atmosphere was lovely. Everyone has commented on how special the afternoon was and will return. I've already recommended The New Inn to folks and will continue to do so. If you get the chance to visit, GO!

Came here for a lunch meal as a surprise birthday party, and can't praise the restaurant enough. The food was lovely, and they managed a large group very well. I've been to other places before as a large group and it has been a disaster, so it was really nice to see how well this place handled the 23 of us. If I lived closer, I'd definitely be back more often!

This was a very good place for a family celebration lunch for 12, including 3 children. My parsnip was inedible, but the roast beef was delicious. Our 3 vegetarians said their squash wellington was delicious. Leanne and Ben were very helpful in accommodating us. It is the fourth time I have had lunch at the pub and it has always been good.
Rating: 4 / 5
Really friendly welcome from all the staff. We didn't stay here, just a quick visit as we were in a shepherds hut down the road. Nice village pub with a lovely friendly feeling. The beer garden was good and the feedback from lunchtime was positive from all the customers. Definitely worth a visit.

Just had lunch at the Brewers Arms , fantastic food, brilliant Landlord and friendly staff , the best pub I’ve been in for years. I’ll definitely visit again when next in the area .

A really lovely pub in a beautiful village. Friendly, helpful staff, a sweet courtyard garden, plenty of seats inside and out, clean toilets. The food was good (especially the chips) but the best thing was the Chocolate Frozen Dream dessert. Definitely a pub we'll return to.

Lovely country spot for Sunday Lunch! Excellently priced menu and VERY friendly staff. I left my necklace there before driving a 2 hour journey and the lady behind the bar kindly posted it back to me when I realised I had forgotten it. Thank you so much !!

We had our evening meals here while we were staying in the village. The landlord was very welcoming and helpful. The menu was good, plenty of choice. Food was well cooked. The Dorset Apple Cake was to die for! The locals were friendly and chatty. All in all, a lovely find!

Lovely place for coffee, cake, meals and small dishes. A real gem on the Dorset coast. The new menu I sublime and staff friendly as ever. Sit outside or inside with dogs welcome and easy excess for all with a carpark out the front. Be back again soon as we always are :).

Hiked a loop from abbotsbury and stopped here for lunch. As it was the off season, many places were closed. We were so glad to find that the manor was open. I had a local Dorset crab linguine and it was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. The crab was flavorful and plentiful and the whole dish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My husband enjoyed his aubergine platter as well. Beautiful spot, great service, highly recommend!

Our experience was dinner which we enjoyed the first time to warrant a return visit two days later. We were staying close by not in the hotel. Luckily I had pre-booked as gets very busy especially Mondays. The service was excellent and Matt made us feel very welcome on both occasions. Good food, good atmosphere and a great view from the conservatory.

We recently had a delightful short break with our best friends. It was welcoming, and comfortable, with beautiful views, delicious food, friendly, helpful staff, and the whole atmosphere conducive to relaxation and allowing a recharging of the batteries. We arrived in thick fog and pouring rain which meant a quick change of our original plans. The management immediately arranged for us to take possession of our rooms four hours early, which to us was going the extra mile. Thank you so much to The Manor Hotel! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The weather improved dramatically and the whole stay was a great success!

Rating: 4.7 (131) Price Level:
Just back from our fourth stay at Litton lakes and really is our favourite spot. Site is clean, staff brilliant and in the most beautiful area of Dorset. Kids spent hours on the lake while we enjoyed fabulous coffee in the cafe. Perfect location. Thank you for another cracking weekend.
Rating: 5 / 5
An amazing, super cool place. I popped in on my bike ride from Bridport to Dorchester. The lake is great - deep enough and just a great place for a swim (£5) followed by a cuppa and a delicious brownie. The lake is spring fed so pretty cold, but very refreshing :-). I’m going to have to book a stay next summer. An hours walk over the hills to remote beaches (or 30-45 mins run if you can!), 15 minutes westbound cycle to a farm shop and brilliant cafe, or 5 minutes walk to the village pub. Take your pick!
Rating: 5 / 5
This place is 10/10. I found the best thing about this place was they offer a fire place and wood to buy, and the guy comes and checks you are topped up for the night. Me and my group was not expecting to be having beers and wine by a fire while camping. Also walking distance to the beach. I defiantly need to come back to this place In 2025 . Happy new year
Rating: 4 / 5
This is in a lovely location and the lake is beautiful for kids paddle boarding. The pitches are all level and flat with short grass. We enjoyed our time camping and would certainly come back and recommend to others. We felt the shower and toilet facilities could be improved and there weren't really enough for the numbers camping on the site. Separate sinks to the toilets would also have been beneficial so you didn't have to queue for loos to brush teeth etc. The site would also benefit from a few more sinks for washing up. The showers were warm in the morning but not in the afternoon. The cafe is lovely, we would have welcomed it being open later in the day during the week and it stocking a few grocery basics like bread, milk, water etc. I'm sure it was just a one off but we had to wait an hour for 4 toasted sandwiches and wasps were a problem across the site although we were informed by staff this is only for a short window of time each August. Its also worth noting it's £20 extra per night for a fire pit and wood which we felt was a little steep when comparing with other campsites we have visited in the area. Its a great little site but has real potential to be an absolute gem with a few improvements
