Dorshi
6 Chancery Ln, Bridport DT6 3PX, UK

“Came here during our bank holiday weekend escape from London, and what a gem it turned out to be. It’s tucked away in a little alleyway but easy to find. We were seated in the downstairs bar area which has a mix of high and low seating, with just the right balance of cozy and charming. I didn’t catch our waiter’s name but I believe he’s one of the managers. His service was impeccable from start to finish. We loved all the food but the charred pork belly is a must try. You can truly taste how much love goes into every dish. We got to have a chat with the chef, Brendan. His warmth and passion for his craft shone through, making us feel incredibly welcome. The folks at Dorshi genuinely care about and love what they do, and that made for an amazing experience. Can’t wait to come back!”

“The locals will hate me for sharing this place… but it is awesome. Very unassuming, very reasonable and the pizzas are truly authentic Roman style. It gets really busy so you’ll need to book if you can. Don’t be fooled by the industrial location - this is a top notch Italian.”

“I'd earmarked this place for our visit to Bridport and on the day we went it was tipping it down with rain and it was packed. There was a queuing system for lunch tables, so we waited in line and watched with interested as the chefs plated up in the open kitchen. Service was efficient, friendly, and the menu is full of interesting options, plus loads for vegans (which we both are). We opted for the split pea hummus, soup, and chocolate & hazelnut buckwheat slice. All were absolutely divine. There is a little shop at the front selling coffee beans, cakes, jarred bits etc. Wish this place was closer to where we lived, I'd be in there all the time.”

The Half Moon
Melplash, Bridport DT6 3UD, UK
Phone: 01308 488321
“We visited the Half Moon whilst on our minimoon in Dorset. We wanted a lovely “home cooked” Sunday roast and boy did they deliver. The food was exceptional. They also had a band playing in the garden and a magician coming round to the tables (when you weren’t eating) and it was great! Highly recommend and if we’re ever back in the area, we’d definitely visit again.”

“A lovely pub - so pleased we found it! Bob and Jenny were wonderful hosts (actually all the staff were). The menu is reasonably priced and lots of choice. My husbands steak was perfect. The beer garden is so lovely - the wild garden is beautiful. We had a wonderful afternoon there and we will be back when we are next in the area. Really dog friendly too. Thank you and we will see you next year! :)”

“Located at the end of a primarily single track lane, you'll find this charming pub. If arriving between 2pm and 6pm the owners will give you instruction how to access your room. Starting with the accomodation - the bed was larger than average and exceptionally comfortable. A couple of very tasty homemade biscuits awaited us on the room's serving tray. How lovely! Tea and coffee also in the room, however the milk is kept in the fridge at the bottom of a very short corridor. Disappointingly, one of our folded 'clean' large towels was still dirty, and whilst not affecting us personally it may be worth noting that the shower cubicle is on the smaller side with an older model Mira shower. You'll need to turn the main dial to the left, and the water temperature reaches hot almost instantly. We'd booked an evening meal for 6.30pm, and whilst the dining area was pretty empty at this point within an hour it was full. My meal was heavenly, I cannot praise it enough - a starter of salt & pepper squid on a garlic and lime mayonnaise, a main of sticky beef with rice and an Indonesian-style salad. Absolutely amazing! Breakfast was wonderful too - a small selection of cereals (Weetabix, Alpen or Cornflakes), with the option of pre-prepaired chopped fruits and natural yogurt; followed by a full English. I'd definitely recommend a visit to this pub if you don't mind a drive down a narrow lane -you'll probably not find a more tranquil location.”

“From the moment we walked in with our two small dogs I had high expectations. There is a great ambiance here, and the decor is great, fresh flowers in the ladies loo is an extra nice touch. For lunch I had local mussels, absolutely delicious and hubby had faggots which he thoroughly enjoyed. Looking at their flyer they have a lot going on from live music to quiz nights and a book club and even more. I wish this pub was in my village but we will be back to visit again before long.”
