“Far be it that I'm easily pleased, but this place just struck my chords. A quaint little campsite cookery, offering Pizza evening food and morning fry up classics. The service was great. A comfortable atmosphere with music softly playing, plenty of comfortable seating, a small library to ponder over, and some old antiquated analogue TV/stereo to fiddle with while we waited. The guy baking, (Connor) was polite and chatty and served up our pizza in good time and with a true smile on his face. Absolutely fabulous. The food itself smelt so appealing, and looked scrumptious. Happy to say that the taste didn't disappoint. Quality food”

“Fantastic food. Every dish was special! What a treat. You do need to book in advance! Real good value too. We will definitely be back. The only thing that might may this place even better than it already is, is to do something with the acoustics. It was very loud … but then it was busy 😊 -maybe find someway to soften the noise. Starters, mains and desserts were delicious. Can’t wait to try more from the menu. See photos below! Looked even better in real life 😊”

“After a lovely sunny walk we ended up at the Square & Compass. We had an ale and mulled cider with a steak pasty and a chicken leek and bacon pie. Service was quick and the staff were polite and friendly. We sat in one of the snugs. The whole place is a living museum and you step back in time once you cross the threshold. Service is through a hatch in line with the entrance, it became very congested very quickly with only a few people being present. Not so easy to navigate once you add a tray with drinks and food on it.”

“This was a lovely find and experience. The whole place had been redesigned for accessible use, and the attention to detail was everywhere. The architect should be very proud of their accomplishments. We grabbed some food and were pleasantly surprised. So much so we headed back a second day. Views are amazing and accessibility is extremely good, despite being on the cliffs. Great day out.”

“Wow, what a brilliant pub. Not only is there great food and ale for visitors, but a great village centre too. Brilliant use of space and really nice staff. Food- good menu, good flavours Atmosphere - proper old pub, but also clean, homely, comfortable. Service- happy staff, looked after us Shop-what a great idea to have a small village shop in the pub to. Love it, as Arnie said “I’ll be back” Update. Returned three times, still a great pub with great beer And now to make you smile....or groan Whats it called when a king and queen have no children? A receding heir line”

“Went for a Sunday roast. Options beef, chicken or pork with all the trimmings. Puddings were lovely, cherry pie and custard and 3 scoops of ice cream… there were more but the cherry pie got me. Large seating area inside with nice decor and large bar. They also allow well behaved dogs. Seating outside also available. Would recommend booking .”
