Rating: 4.8 (296) Price Level:
Yalbury Cottage is a place where excellence, friendliness, and quality come together seamlessly. As someone who loves travelling and exploring new cities and places, I have stayed in numerous accommodations, but none compare to Yalbury Cottage. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning to the area. The staff at Yalbury Cottage consistently went out of their way to be friendly and did everything possible to ensure our stay was exceptional. The room exceeded my expectations significantly, with its stunning and unique view. We truly felt as if we were at home, but in a setting with beautiful new scenery. Situated in Dorchester, Yalbury Cottage offers a perfect base to explore the area and nearby cities such as Weymouth. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, have recommended this place to others, and will continue to do so. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything was spotlessly and well-organised. Additionally, the thoughtful touch of leaving brownies in our room upon arrival exemplifies their dedication to Yalbury Cottage and their commitment to providing each guest with an exceptional experience. I personally can't wait to return to this charming cottage for another uniquely wonderful stay.

Absolutely wonderful overnight stay, with excellent breakfast and dinner, extremely comfortable accommodation, highly professional and friendly staff... need I go on? I would unhesitatingly recommend this charming hotel.

Lovely place to stay. Food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The one thing that I would of appreciated (as an older lady) would of been a bath mat in a very slippy bath. Fabulous, would certainly visit again.

This is an absolutely amazing place. The staff were extremely attentive, the food was phenominal and definitely worthy of a Michelin star and excellent value too. They really care about service and quality here . The best food that I have eaten in a long time. Thank you so much.

Enjoyed a lovely Italian themed tasting menu - every dish was perfection đź‘Ś

I went there for Sunday lunch with my family. I’ll cut to the chase - book it and go, if there’s actually any space left. The value is unbelievable for the quality of food. This would cost at least double in London and at least 50% more in a neighbouring city. What comes out of that small kitchen is impressive. A deft touch, precise cooking and extremely well judged seasoning. Support this restaurant. If you live in Newark then you have to go. If you live within an hours drive you should absolutely go. If you’re driving up the A1, you need to pop in. I’ve been eating all over the world this year (and previous ones), and this gem was on my doorstep all along.

Delighted to have treated my wife to a meal at Taylors. The food was absolutely excellent. We did the six course menu and were very impressed with every course, in particular the attention to detail of the food was terrific. The service was straightforward and professional, with the waitress providing a detailed explanation of each dish. It was welcome that she had previously tried each dish which no doubt aided her descriptions. Obviously the meals aren’t “cheap”, but in my view they represent excellent value for money given the quality of both the ingredients and presentation. Well done to the team for all their hard work that makes it possible. Hopefully locals will recognise this unique offering and support it when looking for a special treat or to mark a significant occasion.

Beautifully presented dishes full of flavour. Friendly staff, very chilled atmosphere, we will definitely visit again. We had the tasting menu and shared a wine pairing between two of us ,a fantastic selection of dishes ,flavours ,textures 5 out of 5 for sure

Wednesday dinner. 5 course tasting menu with matching wine pairing. Very generous portions, great culinary experience. Service was good but could be improved. Also worth noting, the restaurant has a lovely outside area and we took a glass of wine for a little pause between courses. Highly recommend.

Fantastic food! Really delicious. We will definitely return on our next trip to the area. The staff are lovely and welcoming, and we felt at ease for the whole visit.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and delicious dining experience at the Clockspire Restaurant this evening. Food was excellent along with the service. The old school building has been beautifully restored and creates a delightful surrounding and atmosphere, complimenting the whole experience. This has just become my favorite restaurant. We shall return.

Really nice experience. The decor inside was very appealing and comfortable. Went for the 3 course set menu and the food was very well presented and had a lot of flavour. Waiters/waitresses polite and attentive. Will recommend to friends/family.

Oh my! ♥ What a magical experience visiting The Clockspire was. Where do I begin to describe the care and detail oozing from both the staff and the food, it truly is clear to see, even the toilet hand towels were folded beautifully! We decided to opt for an expensive treat due to a special birthday, but the restaurant also offers a very affordable day menu, so I would recommend for both a stunning meal out and for celebrating occasions.

Rating: 4.9 (41) Price Level:
The staff were excellent. So kind and lovely, I would go back for them to support good people. The food wasn't my favourite but we enjoyed our visit. I had the breakfast wrap and my husband had the veggie breakfast. We managed to sit outside in the sunshine.

I ordered two Sparky Box breakfasts and was thoroughly impressed with the quality. The food was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Excellent value for money—I’ll definitely be coming back!

Popped in to get a coffee and send a few emails. The lady working was absolutely amazing and super friendly! I couldn’t leave without getting a “Bricky Bap” for the road. I 100% recommend Traders for any hungry traveler passing by!!!!

Brilliant place. Best staff in a café or anywhere to be honest. Food well worth it and happy to alter breakfast to suit individual taste. Good value too.

Traders Takeaway Cafe is a hidden gem in terms of value for money and delicious food offerings. Located in a convenient area on Portland with a big car park, this cozy cafe may not be the largest in size but makes up for it with its friendly and helpful staff. The menu at Proper Builders Cafe is extensive, offering a variety of options that are sure to satisfy any craving. One of the standout features of Traders Takeaway Cafe is the excellent value for money that it provides. For the price paid, customers receive generous portions of food that are not only delicious but also made with quality ingredients. From classic breakfast options like tea and toast to hearty lunch specials, Proper Builders Cafe has something for everyone. In addition to the great value, Traders Takeaway Cafe is known for its sickly desserts that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. The desserts available at the cafe are indulgent and rich, making them the perfect way to end a meal on a high note. However, it is worth noting that Proper Builders Cafe does not offer milkshakes on their menu, which is a small disappointment for some customers. Despite the lack of milkshakes, I am hopeful that Proper Builders Cafe will start offering gourmet shakes soon. A suggestion for a new addition to the menu could be a cookie dough shake, as it is a popular and indulgent option that would complement the existing menu offerings. With their dedication to quality food and excellent service, I have no doubt that Traders Takeaway Cafe would excel in creating delicious gourmet shakes. In conclusion, Traders Takeaway Cafe is a fantastic option for those looking for value for money and delicious food. With a great menu, cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff, this cafe is a must-visit for anyone in the area. While there may be room for improvement in terms of milkshake offerings, Proper Builders Cafe remains a standout choice for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience.

Very attentive service. The biryani was fabulous. It did cost ÂŁ23, so be warned. Not cheap. Lanson champagne at ÂŁ49 a bottle is a steal though !

Not from Southwell, was visiting the races. Went here 9pm Friday evening, wow! Very very good food, amazing service. We left thinking, 'best indian we have ever had!' Grace our waitress was amazing too. Highly recommend!
Rating: 5 / 5
Wonderfully attentive service and the details do not go unnoticed. Thank you for holding our table for myself and 3 of my designers after our event last night. You went above and beyond and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food, setting and service. From one Southwell business to another it’s really lovely to have you in the town.
Rating: 5 / 5
Brilliant from start to finish. Amazing service and amazing food. Grace is an absolute superstar. So attentive and made us all feel very taken care of. Will definitely come back again. The lamb biryani was great. Try and get hold of the lamb shank if you can. It will sell out!

Kiran was the member of staff at Lasani who looked after us tonight. She was very helpful, had good knowledge of what was on the menu and made sure everything went smoothly. We tried a delicious appetiser - ( puff balls ) that were unique and full of flavour and we had chicken tikka curry and lamb balti which were superb. We also had a peshwari naan which was delicious. The atmosphere was very nice, the staff friendly and helpful and the food was superb. A lovely place to dine on a Friday night and will definitely return in the future. Lasani is a fine dining experience in a tastefully decorated restaurant with little, unexpected surprises that made the evening. Thank you to Kiran and all the staff for making it such an enjoyable, first time experience .

The food was 10/10 Visited today for Mothers Day, plenty of mean enough vegetables and a huge jug of gravy perfect for us. The only downside was we were squeezed on a table where other diners had to get up to let us in. Won't put us off eating here again though.

Not fine dining.....but definitely good grub. Generously portioned homemade and homecooked dishes. Steak pie with veg and roast potatoes was more than I could finish and as a butchers son I'm picky about the quality of meat used. Great value at ÂŁ10. Won't be our last visit..."we'll be back"!!

Stopped off on a whim having originally planned just coffee and cake. Ended up having a full roast each! Great portions, fantastic price and lovely food. Service warm and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

Just had the most delicious Sunday Roast and Eton Mess. Amazing service and home cooked style food. My new favourite place! 🌷🌷🌷
Rating: 5 / 5
For me, it is an old school restaurant. Home cooked food . Special of the days, roast dinner daily. Fry up, pies. Fresh cakes, cheesecakes. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Even when I didn't get some I asked for, I said not to worry, they still done it. Pricing was good for this day with the cost of living. Sad, we keep losing these little gems. Great work, Sugar loaf.

6 of us had the Sunday roast, one chicken, two beef and two nut roasts. 6 empty plates, delicious! 3 different sizes of meal to choose from. So many desserts on offer it was hard to decide. I'm dairy free, but still had choices. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Very good food and a really well run pub with friendly attentive staff
Rating: 4 / 5
Sunday lunch after the races. Nice cut of beef and a shoulder of lamb accompanied by a nicely cooked, albeit skimpy portion of vegetables. Pub was quiet and we were tabled in the front room which wasn't really a restaurant, more of a pub table. There is a restaurant area at the back which looked quite cosy. The beer garden looks great for the summer, and generally the service was tight and pleasant from attentive service staff. Price wasn't too bad either. 3 pots of tea. 3 Sunday dinners. 1 Cauliflower cheese (tiny portion). 1 dessert. £52 Sat next to a log burner in the middle of January. It wasn't lit. 🥶

Had lunch from 3 different menus either Snack, 2/3 course Lunch or Main menu, so plenty of choice. Staff were friendly & helpful. Good choice of beers and the food was hot, tasty & well presented. Worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing roast and I’ve eaten a lot of roasts!! Huge portions and the meal included cauliflower cheese at no extra cost. Lovely pub garden in a beautiful little village. Golden Cap on a nearby so I’d recommend a long walk along the gorgeous Jurassic coast followed by a roast at this gem of a pub

A fantastic pub, clean, friendly, lovely atmosphere. The garden is sheltered with plenty of seating. Dog friendly. Booking is reccomendationed. The menu is varied with plenty of choice for all dietary requirements. Along with sharing platters. The staff are attentive and friendly. The pub is historical. The old post office has been integrated into the front lounge area. If you love your Sunday lunch, book early as you won't get a seat.

I can firmly recommend this restaurant. We came here for a dinner and were very surprised. Everything was exceptionally tasty and very well decorated. Service was fast, the waitresses were all friendly. The food took a while but the place was full. We sat in the dog friendly garden. We had three starters to share, prawns, the cauliflower and BBQ pulled pork. Especially the cauliflower was awesome. To the point. Lots of spices, great sauce, spicy. The fries were crisp even covered with sauce. We then shared the fish curry. Another surprise. Also spicy, the rice was perfect, crisp vegetables and a delightful sauce over the shrimps, the fish and the mussels which were outstanding huge. The prices for such high quality are very OK. The negative reviews could be explained by the season. We were told that during summer vacation the near campground is flooded with people who then also flood this place.
