My wife and I, Visited Shaftesbury on Saturday. To do some shopping and check out Gold Hill (Featured in the Hovis advert from the 70's) when we got to the top of Gold Hill we came apon this lovely restaurant. All the staff were lovely. So lovely my wife and I cried. Xx. We have had a lot going on recently. Jo was very kind. The food was amazing. We went for the tuna ciabatta. Lovely.. And then there's the view. Amazing.. Well worth a visit and popping in for something to eat. Xx. Thank you again xxx yours sincerely Steve and Annie and Luna xx

This gem did not disappoint yet again! Even if not on the menu, you can still get an amazing omelette here! Great after cycling up Gold Hill :)

This place is located at the top of Gold Hill with beautiful views over the valley. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the benches outside to soak in the beautiful views. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The menu had plenty of of options and the food was really tasty. If you’re a tourist looking for the feel of England, then definitely come here!

Beyond excellent. Lunch menu superb. Delicious, beautifully presented, and the best value for money possible. We are always looking for good places to eat and felt this time we had hit the jackpot. Will visit again very soon.

Called in for lunch. Good set menu, friendly service. Good value. Slightly cramped tables. Very popular even on a Tuesday lunchtime
Rating: 5 / 5
Excellent lunch with different options and not your usual choices either. They do a set menu with 2 or 3 courses as an option. I chose off the normal menu and had aubergine stuffed with a side of fries very good portion and very flavoursome. The other person did the same and had a fishcake, which was much enjoyed. We shared a pudding of poached figs, which again was delicious. Would recommend it and I will return

What a surprise. La Fleur de Lys deserves its good reputation. Food was of a very high standard and the service was discreet and professional. The chef came to the table to check all were satisfied and we were. I wasn't expecting such a treat.

We stayed and dined at the Fleur de Lys and it was absolutely delightful. The accommodation is comfortable, quiet, and clean. Mary and David are truly graceful hosts and assisted with some arrangements for us, and it is clear that they are well to connected with the best professionals in the area. The food is as exceptional as other reviews suggest. Thank you so much for a great stay!

Perfection on 4 plates! Our second visit to this excellent restaurant. The food, once again was a delight as much for the eyes as for the taste! The 4 of us had different starters and main courses , and each were delicious. The service was perfect, so was the atmosphere. Pleasant environment, staff and owners.

Went in for food at the bar, and we really enjoyed it!!! The food was simple but delicious and we will 100% be going back. The waitress was also very knowledgeable with information regarding what could be eaten by a celiac in our group. It also had an amazing country pub feel that felt so welcoming and cozy x ❤️

Had Sunday lunch with two girlfriends. Superb Sunday roast with tasteful food, cooked and presented to a high standard. Excellent portions. Wonderful, freshly baked dessert. Highly recommended. Friendly and welcoming staff.

We stayed at the Grove Arms for two nights in June of 2024 and have nothing but good things to say about the place. Management was friendly, and bent over backwards to make our stay amazing. Including letting us stash our luggage there well after checkout. Our room was clean, comfortable, and decorated with a canine theme. The food was great, and the breakfast was better than we could have hoped. The dinner menu consists of classic English pub fare, including fish and chips and steak and ale pie. The pub is bright and inviting, and the locals that hang out there made our stay fantastic. If you want information about local walking paths, Phil is your man. His directions got us all the way to Shaftesbury and Gold Hill and back on foot without incident. Thanks to Daren, Andy, Simon and the rest of the local crew for making our time in Ludwell so memorable. We cannot recommend the Grove Arms strongly enough.

We visited today, Sunday without a booking and were grateful to be seated next to the window in the main bar. The Sunday lunches were excellent; we had two.meals, beef and pork. The choice and portions of veg were excellent and the meats on both of our plates were succulent and tender. The front of house team was kept busy but were polite, attentive and efficient throughout. A most enjoyable visit, we will return in due course. We did return and we were delighted that our first visit wasn't a "one-off". The food and service were again excellent, we highly recommend the Coppleridge Inn.

We had a family Sunday roast here the weekend before last. The staff were perfect! Attentive but not too much, the food was lovely by far the best roast we have had put in a long time and we eat out most Sundays.

I went with a large group who arrived at varying times so service was difficult to judge. However, the young lady who took our orders was charming, good humoured and helpful. Food was excellent, only choice for veggie or vegan was jackfruit. The meat, pork or beef was excellent, as was the Ritchie beer, but as that remains a personal choice you'll have to try it to see. Yes I will go again.
Rating: 5 / 5
My first visit since Guy Ritchie took the Airfield over. The restaurant area has been enlarged and has full glazing from end to end giving panoramic views towards Shaftsbury. The interior is not cramped in any way although it was busy. One has good viewing of aircraft taking off and landing. Outside are plenty of picnic tables so if the weather is good you can sit outside if you want. I had lunch and it was really good. Pulled smoked beef in a brioche bun. Apparently there are only 3 of these 'smokers' in Europe, and they're worth every penny. Not a good menu if you're vegan or veggy. I tried one of Guy's own beers and it was really good. We were in a large party who arrived at different times so I can't say too much about service times, but I had no complaints. The girl who looked after our tables was good humoured, patient and helpful. I shall definitely go back.

Popular breakfast spot. Unfortunately the service is haphazard and range of options extremely limited. My friend ordered a bacon and sausage roll and was served a bacon and egg roll. He sent it back and was then served a sausage and egg roll. In frustration he ate it because we were short of time.

Lovely little place for plane spotting. We went while it was quite overcast, but the clouds cleared and off went the spitfire! Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely. They allowed us to shelter inside on our table for 45 minutes before our booking was due to start. Will be visiting again when the weather is a little warmer to enjoy a crispy pint while watching the planes!

Booked a table for Mothering Sunday 19/03/2023. Arrived 10 minutes before reservation, friendly waitress showed us our table. Drinks arrived within a few minutes following by starters and then freshly cooked mains. Meals are very tasty, staff very attentive and helpful. Happy to return here and recommend it! Thank you 🙂

Led a motorcycle group ride from Solent area to Somerset / Dorset, with a Sunday lunch stop at the Half Moon, Shaftesbury. 11 of us for lunch and we'd booked ahead so we had tables put together ready for us. Arriving about 1pm, the place was busy. We were fortunate to be served by a lovely young lady, Alyssa. Excellent customer service. She was charming - with an Essex-meets-Somerset type of accent - and confident; and nothing seemed to phase her, not even the items that weren't available on the menu or the pace of the kitchen. Clearly best to go for the carvery, but not everyone who has an evening meal planned wants that at lunchtime.
