“Food was great, flavourful like true Jamaican food is and everything. But half a container of “Large” pepper steak and half a container of rice and peas is ridiculous. When I go to Tasty they make sure the containers are filled to the brim. I want to support my people but we got to stop being stingy with our portions. I spent nearly £30😭. I didn’t want to leave a review but it’s kind of ridiculous.”

“A pleasant country pub that comes into its own in the summer. Sitting in the garden on a summer's evening isn't a bad way to pass the time. The food's pretty good too (averaging about £15 a dish). The pub is situated in the small village of Rodmersham. The most famous resident was the artist Edward Ardizzone - and yet not one of his paintings/illustrations graces the wall of the pub.”

“We ate here for the first time this evening with friends and was very impressed! Lovely decor, staff were really friendly and very attentive and the food was superb. We were bought a complimentary bread basket for the table, it was fresh and warm and came with a selection of dips and a salad bowl. Our friends ordered a mixed shared starter which looked and smelt amazing and for mains I ordered the lamb chops which came with the option of rice or chips of which I opted for the chips. The lamb was cooked and seasoned perfectly and was a good portion size, the chips were really well seasoned and everything was really tasty. The staff were very attentive and made sure everything was ok, including asking us if the temperature in the restaurant was ok which I felt was thoughtful. Everyone at our table was very happy with their meals and we will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommend a visit.”

“We heard it was possible to sleep in our little campervan overnight so I called to ask. The person who answered the phone was so welcoming and kind and said we could. Thank you ever so much!! The pub itself is beautiful and although we were a bit late so the kitchen was closed when we got there, we still had a little drink and could see the people around us really enjoying their meals. We will 100% be back to try the food. Thank you once again for letting us stay! 😀”

“Me and my brother and I were looking for somewhere to have some breakfast in Sittingbourne, and I happened to find this restaurant and decided to dine there. We were welcomed by a wonderful gentleman who seated us and took our drinks order. Breakfast was ordered shortly after by a wonderful waitress who was very polite and friendly, the food came really fast and both mine and my brothers food was really, really good, best breakfast I've had in a long time. The atmosphere was really nice and was something that me and my brother commented on. The restaurant is stylish and very clean, I can't comment on the evening experience, but it's something that I'm definitely looking forward to trying. The owner explained that they will be doing Sunday roasts, which will definitely be my next visit. If you're in the area and are looking for somewhere to eat either breakfast, lunch, or dinner, then I highly recommend visiting Ephesus.”

“Been here many times since the review below and it's always a great experience. A fantastic village countryside pub. Nice and super friendly staff who serve delicious food and drinks. The pub is comfortable and decorated to a high standard and it also has a nice beer garden with swings and a slide for the kiddies which is perfect for those warmer days and it's pretty quiet there with only the occasional car, cyclist or horse and rider passing by. The pub is kept nice and clean and we witnessed the staff sanitizing the bar and tables whilst we were there, so we felt Covid safe. There is also some nice picturesque countryside surrounding the village which makes it an ideal stop whilst out walking or cycling. There is quite a few footpaths within easy reach of The Black Lion to enjoy a stroll and well behaved dogs and their owners are always welcome.”
