A one night stay at The Talbot, which is under new management since the venue was featured on Four in a Bed. We were welcomed at the bar on arrival after a long drive from Suffolk, we arrived early evening but apparently check-in has to be after 17:30 anyway. Having settled our bill for bed and breakfast, we were shown to our room on the first floor: Blackberry. This is located above the pool and breakfast dining room with a pleasant bay window view towards the side of the property but pretty much aligned with the road junction just outside, running north. The room was well furnished, a dressing table with three adjustable mirrors was a dated but no-doubt helpful feature for some guests. A single wardrobe and TV, with a well stocked hospitality tray (fresh coffee for a cafetiere, tea and hot chocolate, biscuits) including a tiny fridge which we were advised would be supplied with fresh milk upon request at the bar. There was bottled (sparkling) water in the room, which was appreciated. The bathroom was at first sight spacious and similarly well appointed with a bath and shower over. The bathroom had no windows and only an inefficient extractor fan so it was evident it suffered from damp on the walls. This despite an effective chrome heated towel rail. Closer inspection showed mould on the shower screen, tiled areas and bath edge. Water did not fully drain from the bath so a small puddle gathered the wrong side of the plughole. Also, the shower screen wasn't man enough to contain water from even the most careful shower. The water pressure was however great and we (unlike guests in other rooms, it seemed) found the water temperature performed as anticipated. Complimenrltary toiletries were supplied, we thought it strange that none of them were matched but this isn't a criticism. Because no food was served in the evening we dined out, returning for a drink in the bar before turning in. A friendly dog played catch for a while and the Otter ale was well kept and went down a treat. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was of good quality. Bespoke roman blinds at the windows were okay at blocking light from the road. Unfortunately our sleep was disrupted by proximity to the road. We had to close the single glazed window (which we'd otherwise have liked to leave open) in an attempt to mute it, but this wasn't that successful. We woke a little tired for breakfast - served between 08:00 and 09:30 and were met with a friendly good morning from the owner and breakfast chef. We were offered a continental and full English cooked breakfast. I requested a veggie breakfast (with veggie sausages, if available, otherwise a full minus meat). It was only when we sat down that my partner said he'd kindly made this request when making the reservation and was told it would be fine as there were croissants and veggie breakfast items. Our hot breakfasts arrived and mine was a full minus meat. It was actually fine but not what was suggested over the phone... and there was no sign of a croissant. Still, there has good hot filter coffee on the go, we had plenty of toast and what promised to be excellent French unsalted butter (but was actually warm and tasted a little rancid - presumably because it hadn't been refrigerated), together with a further pat of what was some form of spread of the "I Can't Believe It's Butter Because It Doesn't Even Look Like Butter" sort. We opted for butterless. Couldn't find an EHO scores on doors rating for the establishment online and none was displayed but, other than the butter situation, nothing seemed out of order with the breakfast and (writing this review a few days later) no ill effects felt.

Had a lovely stay here. Host and hostess very warm and welcoming. Room was lovely...only minor grumble is mattress was too soft but that's a personal preference thing. Great English breakfast. Otter ale was nice too.

Very friendly welcome, well kept ales and a very sunny courtyard. Tablecloths in the restaurant areas are a good touch, though we didn't eat this time. Interesting menu, so will be back š

Considering it's on a main road it really is very quiet. I had a great experience here ,we were greeted with a smile from the bar area shown to our rooms with friendly chat. Decorated to a high standard with some beautiful colours. Beautiful garden patio area in good order and planted with thought.

Great village pub, was very impressed with the whole set up. Has its own pool room which looks very well maintained and clean. An eating area. Outside beer garden is pleasant. Service is very friendly and welcoming. Had a roast there, was a nice roast. Loved the large Yorkshire pudding. Prices are good value as well.

Came here for dinner as we had relatives staying. Very tasty food served in good time and a lovely atmosphere. Food well priced for the quality. Our relatives had good things to say about the rooms and breakfast too!

After messing up my initial booking, silly mistake, really messed Karl and his team around but was thoroughly looked after. When we showed up at the correct time myself and my two colleagues were treated very well. Good comms, easy to reach out to. Great on emails. Rooms are very nice. Good parking, but busiest when the pub is busy lunch, evening however was always able to find a space. Food is excellent. Breakfast choices are really good - you are really well fed. WiFi is good, I was able to take a several hour video meeting without any call quality or video issues which is essential when travelling on business. Will book again when next working in the area.

Three Kings Restaurant

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, the staff are always attentive and efficient. Tonight we experienced our first takeaway which was delivered by Mustapha. What a treat! I say ā experienced because the food was an experience!! It was so tasty, so beautifully cooked and so well presented. Definitely our favourite takeaway ever! I had a chicken combo and my husband had a lamb combo. The flavourās are exceptional. The meat was extremely tasty and tender, the bread was the best I have tasted, even the garlic mayo was special. It was restaurant food in the comfort of your own home. They are very generous portions so we will be enjoying our left overs tomorrow for lunch. Thank you to Mustapha and his team. Excellent š¤©š¤©š¤©š¤©š¤©

We stopped for some quick lunch and had jacket potato and avacado on toast. The owner/manager was great and a special thanks to him for remembering my hat!

What a fantastic evening at The Three King's last night! The food was amazing, freshly cooked to order, succulent meat, char grilled veg and a banging home made hot sauce. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming and chatted with us which made the evening all the more enjoyable. Great value for money and somewhere we will definitely return too.

We just had breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning. The service was excellent, prompt and accommodating. But the food! The kings breakfast was huge, delicious and fantastic quality. Eggs royal had plenty of salmon and perfectly poached eggs. Would definitely recommend!

Me and my husband got married here in April and it was honestly the most perfect day we could have possibly imagined! Laura (best wedding planner ever) went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect, nothing was too much to ask. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a wedding venue š¤

The Crown is an absolute gem and a must-visit for us whenever weāre in Blandford with family. Every time we step through the door, weāre greeted by a warm, enchanting atmosphere that feels like home. The hilarious quotes on the walls always get a laugh, and the cozy ambiance just draws you in ā especially when thereās a crackling fireplace and a glass of wine waiting for you. On our most recent visit, we indulged in their Sunday roast, and it was incredible. Generous portions, perfectly cooked, and so delicious that we left feeling completely satisfied (and maybe a little too full!). Paired with a lovely bottle of wine, it was the perfect way to spend a relaxed afternoon. The staff here truly elevate the experience. Theyāre nimble, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile ā even on a busy day. Itās this combination of great food, impeccable service, and charming atmosphere that keeps us coming back. We absolutely love The Crown and canāt recommend it enough. Itās become a cherished part of our visits, and weāre already looking forward to our next roast by the fire!

My wife and I booked for one night's stay at the Crown Hotel recently, as it looked very nice and the price was more competitive than other hotels within this region. It's a beautifully maintained Georgian building in nice location, offering us easy access to numerous locations we wanted to visit in Dorset. We needed a second night's stay added, which was sorted out very easily and all prices, including our breakfast were clarified at reception. The staff were all pleasantly professional and the food choice was very good and of high quality. The room was clean, with a touch of character in line with age of building and had everything to make our stay comfortable. We were disturbed on second night by another guest's barking dog, although this was brief. Parking space is abundant and easy to access. There's also a very big beer garden outside hotel, which looked a popular feature in the sunny weather. Overall, generally pleased with our stay at the Crown and would recommend to others.

Every single member of the team at The Crown Blandford have gone out of their way to accommodate our large family group. The food has been exceptional as are the rooms which are beautiful and spotless. The food at every meal has been amazing. At dinner, every single plate for our large group came out at the same time and was piping hot and delicious. We were well looked after and checked in on regularly. The welcome is warm and friendly and every part of our requests were accommodated including providing an accessible room for a family member needing a lift and a room with support. Reception did a great job of coordinating our group and helping with all of our requests. The bar staff also did really well to help us as we ordered drinks throughout the day. Thank you so much to everyone at The Crown ! We are very grateful and canāt wait to bring our family group back to see you !

A very nice hotel. The rooms had lots of charm with antiques adding to the atmosphere. In particular, the breakfast was lovely and had many things to choose from. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.

The Brewery Tap
The Brewery, Blandford St Mary, Blandford Forum DT11 9LW, UK | Restaurant P: 01258 486005
Rating: 4.4 (277) Price Level:
I only recently found out that this 250 year old family brewery had opened an on-site tap room / pub, so just had to visit. On the outskirts of the main town, this is a fascinating establishment built within the original Victorian malt store, and is packed with memories of the brewery in the past. As you'd expect, the beer range is excellent, and food looked good too - pretty much regular pub dishes, but reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful, though on my visit service was a bit erratic, basically because new staff were being trained "on the job" that day. There's easy parking on site, or it's just a few minutes walk from Blandford town centre. Well recommended.

I really liked it in here. What an interesting and atmospheric place. The staff were lovely. I'd recommend the coffee stout.

Had a breakfast here Saturday 26th October. Very welcoming staff, happy to host our dog and great place to bring him as plenty of room and far enough from other guest as not crammed next to other tables. Nice food and great coffee, lovely setting.

The True Lovers Knot
Tarrant Keyneston, Blandford Forum DT11 9JG, UK | Pub P: 01258 452209
Rating: 4.1 (623) Price Level:
Food is lovely, we had 3 courses. Very welcoming pub. Staff are friendly and helpful, cute room too, a little chilly but the heater works. Would stay again!
Rating: 4 / 5
A comfortable and spacious pub in lovely countryside. Friendly and helpful service. Has its own campsite to the rear, as well as ensuite rooms. Stocks a full range of Badger beers brewed in nearby Blandford, and offers a traditional pub menu too. In an age when so many country pubs are closing, this is a rare and welcome survivor.

Went for meal, mother and myself, Mum had Fish & chips, I had Sausage, mash, peas, onions & gravy, very tasty, both enjoyed our meals. In again for Christmas Eve meal, so looking forward to a set Christmas 3 course dinner.

Having passed The True Lovers Knot many times we had a chance to stop off there today. Itās a true old fashion pub with a log burner which was alight and we were lucky enough to get a table right next to it. We were hoping to have a Sunday roast. Because we hadnāt booked a table we thought we were out of luck. However they were very accommodating and said we could have the table till 14.30 which was fantastic. We ordered two roast turkey dinners which come with all the trimmings and was absolutely delicious. You definitely wonāt leave feeling hungry. We will definitely return but make sure we book. Thank you.

Popped in here with kids on way back from the beach. I'm old fashioned and do appreciate the bar staff giving it some 'I'll be with you in a moment' patter when I approached the bar. Acknowledgement. Nice. The service was friendly and more importantly the lemonades and shandy were ice cold. Kids could happily play on the crazy golf style gravel at the top of the beer garden. Can't comment on rooms or food but it felt a good place to be.
