“The restaurant was nice and clean. The food was lovely, my pizza was delicious. The only down side is they don’t serve any ale! The parking was easy , just around the corner.”

“Decent food, excellent friendly service. Went here for group Sunday pub lunch following a walk. Food was cooked to a good standard and staff were very accommodating without being fussy. However the meal felt slightly on the pricey side (over £10 for most starters and £22± for most main courses) . Would otherwise be happy to recommend. Thank you”

“We went to try out the smokery and had high expectations, having tried an American smokery before. Whilst the food wasn't completely up to expectations, for example there could have been Brisket on the menu, nevertheless it was good. It's a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the airfield. The seating could be more comfortable, but we had a good time. The menu is not huge, but that's quite helpful for making decisions!”

“We liked the food. Service was okay. Vibes were good. Just one hiccup - we reserved a table for dinner way in advance and were cramped in a small corner while the next table had a bigger group (around 7 persons seated at a 4-person table) just having drinks. Not surprisingly, they were pretty loud in conversing. We were not comfortable with this setting and after a short while, requested to switch to another table. The staff was courteous and helped us look into that. Fortunately there was one spare and more spacious table available in another section of the pub and we were able to better enjoy our dinner eventually. I wish they could be more thoughtful when they were assigning table for guests.”

“As we walked in the pub looked lovely. The tables were set with nice cutlery, glasses and napkins. However, the room was smokey, there was an open fire that wasn’t drawing well. Although the hearth was large and it was a cold day (it had been snowing) the open fire was very disappointing. The pub was cold and the radiators were not on. The meals were excellent, good flavours and well presented. The staff were friendly and we were well looked after.”

“This hotel is such a fabulous hotel, great location, good sized room/bathroom, great sized bed & soft fluffy towels. To add to this, the food was delicious, fantastic service and staff are friendly, helpful and all with a smile. We stayed Friday night and had an early engagement, Christine made sure our dinner was on time and made sure we had everything before finishing her shift. Honestly, what a lovely lady. She was just as helpful and cheerful the next morning. The lamb dinner in the evening was absolutely delicious 😋 The complimentary glass of Prosecco and half a beer was a fabulous touch… not advertised enough. Luckily we found a voucher in the room. And the choice of breakfast was amazing. We had smashed avo on toasted sourdough, seasoned with a hint of lemon, pesto leaves, chilly flakes and a perfect poached egg on the side… all done to perfection… well done to whoever made that 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And for once the tea in the teapot was actually boiling, so I had a hot cup of tea with my breakfast… again perfect! One small thing… a little more light in the bathroom or in the bedroom with a good mirror for us older ladies would be helpful!”

“Led a motorcycle group ride from Solent area to Somerset / Dorset, with a Sunday lunch stop at the Half Moon, Shaftesbury. 11 of us for lunch and we'd booked ahead so we had tables put together ready for us. Arriving about 1pm, the place was busy. We were fortunate to be served by a lovely young lady, Alyssa. Excellent customer service. She was charming - with an Essex-meets-Somerset type of accent - and confident; and nothing seemed to phase her, not even the items that weren't available on the menu or the pace of the kitchen. Clearly best to go for the carvery, but not everyone who has an evening meal planned wants that at lunchtime.”
