Came across this pub by accident and so glad we did. Greeted with a big smile by the landlord who fitted us in for an excellent lunch. Huge portions great value in a real village pub with friendly locals and staff. Marvellous!
Rating: 5 / 5
The pub was spotless, the staff were very friendly. The food was outstanding, definitely book a table you won't be disappointed.

Excellent pints of Palmers IPA straight from the barrel. This is a temporary arrangement, it's usually on hand pump. I enjoyed the experience of eating an extremely good steak, mushroom & ale pie, chips, peas & gravy from a cardboard box. I would say, however, that gravy and cardboard boxes aren't necessarily a good mix. Pleasant garden.

Overall is good, the quality it's top as the price and service. Lovely place with good atmosphere. If you're on rush, don't go, take your time and enjoy the food.

Oh my! ♥ What a magical experience visiting The Clockspire was. Where do I begin to describe the care and detail oozing from both the staff and the food, it truly is clear to see, even the toilet hand towels were folded beautifully! We decided to opt for an expensive treat due to a special birthday, but the restaurant also offers a very affordable day menu, so I would recommend for both a stunning meal out and for celebrating occasions.

Fantastic food! Really delicious. We will definitely return on our next trip to the area. The staff are lovely and welcoming, and we felt at ease for the whole visit.
Rating: 5 / 5
We had a thoroughly enjoyable and delicious dining experience at the Clockspire Restaurant this evening. Food was excellent along with the service. The old school building has been beautifully restored and creates a delightful surrounding and atmosphere, complimenting the whole experience. This has just become my favorite restaurant. We shall return.

Really nice experience. The decor inside was very appealing and comfortable. Went for the 3 course set menu and the food was very well presented and had a lot of flavour. Waiters/waitresses polite and attentive. Will recommend to friends/family.

Rating: 4.9 (42) Price Level:
Stopped off here by chance as we were passing and fancied coffee and cake. Wow! What a beautiful place, friendly staff, delicious cakes and coffee, we were quite disappointed that we had already had lunch as all the food looked superb. Extremely dog friendly too! Wish it was closer to where we are staying as we would definitely be back
Rating: 5 / 5
Absolutely love The Lemon Tree! Friends and family have stayed in the beautiful rooms. I’ve personally enjoyed eating here, (alone or with friends), or simply enjoyed stopping for coffee and cake in this wonderful friendly place. I’ve held events here with friends, and the staff are friendly and incredibly accommodating, and always happy to listen to suggestions and feedback. Beautifully decorated in a Mediterranean style which is reflected by the menu. Highly recommend you pay them a visit!

So glad we found this place, had a really delicious breakfast with friends before driving home from our weekend away. Kind and friendly service and lovely surroundings. I've hardly stopped thinking about the Turkish breakfast and would love to come back for a stay and to try the rest of the menu!
Rating: 4 / 5
We stopped to get some breakfast on our travels. Even though we were 5 minutes late past breakfast time, the ladies served us breakfast with no issues. The food was amazing and worth stopping by. I would definitely recommend people to stop and have some nice lovely food

Went for lunch 14/12/24 with a work colleague, I had the sea bass and my colleague had the roast beef. Both excellent, the bass and it's trimmings, beautiful flavour and my colleague said the roast beef was very tender. Both plentiful portions. Definitely will visit again.

Dorset Star Cider Orchard

Rating: 4.8 (39) Price Level:
A great afternoon out having a tour and (very generous) tasting of the orchard's cider. Very friendly hosts. They also do pizza nights which sounded great!
Rating: 5 / 5
Absolutely fantastic tour at the Dorset Star Orchard. The tour guide Richard was fantastic, the tour was informative and fun followed by lots of cider. Would thoroughly recommend!
Rating: 4 / 5
Katherine was so helpful and lovely, delicious brownies (which i dropped on the floor so had to bin them, sad times)the cider and little basket of bread butter and some fruit was sweet and the milk was so nice and fresh, and the hot tub was amazing, there were a few things that let it down.they change you £30 for clearing but im guessing thats just the hut and tub as ALL the cutlery and plates needed to be washed ,the bed spread had 2 stains on it (looked like a paw print)the quilt cover was torn in two places so that wasn't great for the money you pay (it didnt bother us much, and would possibility go back)just a little side note a tea towel would have been great as had to use a hand towel .
Rating: 5 / 5
Exceptionally friendly staff even showed us her dogs puppies , local cyder just the thing for a cool summer drink , we visited in early afternoon and it was a nice time to relax in the sun. They do barbecues as well and I would think it can be quite popular The only thing is that if you didn't know it was there you would miss it completely, it needs signs desperately on the road, otherwise people would sorely miss out on such a gem of a place !!
Rating: 5 / 5
Did a tour of the orchard, Richard was amazing, very knowledgeable regarding bees, the apples and history of the orchard. What an interesting man, farming, scientists and DJ! It was good value for the money. Cider tasting was included. The orchard also serve very tasty pizza’s .

Yalbury Cottage
Yalbury Cottage, Lower Bockhampton, Dorchester DT2 8PZ, UK | Guest House P: 01305 262382
Rating: 4.8 (296) Price Level:
Lovely place to stay. Food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The one thing that I would of appreciated (as an older lady) would of been a bath mat in a very slippy bath. Fabulous, would certainly visit again.
Rating: 5 / 5
This is an absolutely amazing place. The staff were extremely attentive, the food was phenominal and definitely worthy of a Michelin star and excellent value too. They really care about service and quality here . The best food that I have eaten in a long time. Thank you so much.
Rating: 5 / 5
Absolutely wonderful overnight stay, with excellent breakfast and dinner, extremely comfortable accommodation, highly professional and friendly staff... need I go on? I would unhesitatingly recommend this charming hotel.
Rating: 5 / 5
Yalbury Cottage is a place where excellence, friendliness, and quality come together seamlessly. As someone who loves travelling and exploring new cities and places, I have stayed in numerous accommodations, but none compare to Yalbury Cottage. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning to the area. The staff at Yalbury Cottage consistently went out of their way to be friendly and did everything possible to ensure our stay was exceptional. The room exceeded my expectations significantly, with its stunning and unique view. We truly felt as if we were at home, but in a setting with beautiful new scenery. Situated in Dorchester, Yalbury Cottage offers a perfect base to explore the area and nearby cities such as Weymouth. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, have recommended this place to others, and will continue to do so. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything was spotlessly and well-organised. Additionally, the thoughtful touch of leaving brownies in our room upon arrival exemplifies their dedication to Yalbury Cottage and their commitment to providing each guest with an exceptional experience. I personally can't wait to return to this charming cottage for another uniquely wonderful stay.

The Anchor Inn
Seatown, Bridport DT6 6JU, UK | Pub P: 01297 489215
Rating: 4.6 (1679) Price Level:
The location is absolutely stunning, with Golden Cap behind and a view down to the Isle of Portland. This place really is a treat, service is excellent but, it can get very, very busy and you may have to wait for seating. It is on the pricey side too, so as I said, it's a treat. Ask for extra salt on the Padron peppers and you won't be disappointed. Beers were in good condition. A great place to while away a warm summer's evening.
Rating: 5 / 5
Wonderful spot down a country lane, nestled right on the beach. Great fresh local produce and friendly staff. I would love to stay one evening in their rooms and wake to the fabulous sea view
Rating: 4 / 5
We came for a roast dinner on a rainy Sunday. The service was incredible. The food was delicious. The only problem was the portion size - barely enough meat on the plate to make a sandwich let alone a Sunday roast. Otherwise all good.
Rating: 5 / 5
Me and my girlfriend came here for a dinner and had a great time. The food was amazing, the drinks somehow tasted better than other pubs I've been to and service was brilliant. We were served by an Australian girl and her partner and they were really lovely!
Rating: 5 / 5
A good restaurant in a great location ! Market fish was the best choice on the menu! Extremely fresh and perfectly cooked, accompanied by fennel and good buttered bread. I must say I was a little disappointed with the bouillabaisse... A bit coarse for my French-educated palate... And the apple cake was as beautiful as amber but not very subtle and not rich enough in apples for my taste. The staff were extremely friendly, polite, smiling and efficient. Impeccable hygiene and one of the nicest toilets (perhaps not what you'd expect from a restaurant review, but how important it is! Particularly when you're on the road a lot, it's important that the place where you stop offers comfort in this respect too, and even better with a touch of aesthetics. I highly recomand 🩵

The Marquis Of Lorne

Such a marvelous location that serves great food made from local produce. Vegetables and fruit grown in their own garden, Dorset meats and shellfish, and good beer. Excellent playground, so kids are entertained. Would highly recommend.

What a wonderful place to stay! Delicious home-cooked food, nice accommodations, but the best part was that my wife and I were treated like family!
Rating: 4 / 5
Located at the end of a primarily single track lane, you'll find this charming pub. If arriving between 2pm and 6pm the owners will give you instruction how to access your room. Starting with the accomodation - the bed was larger than average and exceptionally comfortable. A couple of very tasty homemade biscuits awaited us on the room's serving tray. How lovely! Tea and coffee also in the room, however the milk is kept in the fridge at the bottom of a very short corridor. Disappointingly, one of our folded 'clean' large towels was still dirty, and whilst not affecting us personally it may be worth noting that the shower cubicle is on the smaller side with an older model Mira shower. You'll need to turn the main dial to the left, and the water temperature reaches hot almost instantly. We'd booked an evening meal for 6.30pm, and whilst the dining area was pretty empty at this point within an hour it was full. My meal was heavenly, I cannot praise it enough - a starter of salt & pepper squid on a garlic and lime mayonnaise, a main of sticky beef with rice and an Indonesian-style salad. Absolutely amazing! Breakfast was wonderful too - a small selection of cereals (Weetabix, Alpen or Cornflakes), with the option of pre-prepaired chopped fruits and natural yogurt; followed by a full English. I'd definitely recommend a visit to this pub if you don't mind a drive down a narrow lane -you'll probably not find a more tranquil location.

Fantastic service, superb foods and by far the best Palmer beers in the area

Fabulous B&B. The Balcony Room was beautiful and I had the best sleep in months. Breakfast was expertly prepared by Ashley and left little room for lunch. Very friendly hosts and a lovely quiet setting with excellent activities and places to eat nearby. Will be back (again)

Thoroughly comfortable, well appointed suite. Huge bed, gorgeous setting with a patio and views to die for. Lashings of hot water and a proper mug of tea at breakfast, which was then followed by freshly brewed coffee and an apparently endless supply of toast!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was perfect. Ashley is an incredible host with brilliant local knowledge. Our rooms were clean and surroundings were stunning. We could not of asked more but we're supplied it none the less.

Without question this is a proper English gem, a stunning house in fantastic rolling countryside. A host who is a proper English gentleman who knows how to make a guest feel very welcome. From the Bloody mary to the breakfast everything is epic in size and quality. The local pubs are fantastic for dinner and Ashley will make great suggestions for walks and sightseeing. An abolute must for anyone who wants to experience real England

We booked a table for Sunday Lunch at this great pub after completing a local walk. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Good selection of refreshing drinks and friendly, welcoming staff. Will definitely return when we are in the area.

Just stopped by for a couple of beers. Loved the location and chilled atmosphere. Not overly posh or pretentious like some in Dorset, despite the affluent countryside. Food looked very good but we were camping nearby and already had food planned. Dogs are most welcome too.

Very good atmosphere, Land lord and land lady great hosts. Lovely location and setting, idealic on hot days to sit outside next to a cool fresh stream. Very convenient If you are staying at the YHA next door. Dog friendly, 24 hour licence, good food and drink.

I visited this pub on Sunday on a staycation in Dorset, we just popped in, and were very pleasantly surprised. A girl named Ruby served us & recommended some cider for us (as we’re not from the area) which was great. She was so personable and helpful and made our experience great. Amazing service, thank you for your hospitality.
Rating: 4 / 5
We popped in for Guinness at lunchtime and really enjoyed our visit primarily because of the very friendly locals. It was my birthday and we decided to come back in the evening for dinner. Unfortunately our second visit was completely different from our first. My partner had anchovies for a starter which were lovely and beef scrumpet for his main, I had rump steak with chips. We had never heard of scrumpet, it was a thick square of brisket that had been coated in breadcrumbs and fried. I asked for my steak medium rare, but it was dry and over cooked. I had mine returned to the kitchen so another could be prepared. This meant my partner ate his dinner on his own. My dinner returned and it was perfect, but I ate mine on my own. It wasn’t the birthday dinner I had hoped for. No discount was offered, or complimentary dessert. Very disappointing!
Rating: 5 / 5
After an emotional day, my partner and I decided we would stay over and booked our room on line. On arriving quite late, we received a very warm welcome and despite the kitchen having already closed, were offered fish and chips without hesitation. Our host did check with the kitchen first but it seemed absolutely no trouble. The rooms were worthy of the most historic public house but still provided all the home comforts one could wish for. After a comfortable nights sleep, interrupted only by the effects of alcohol consumes throughout our day, we descended the stairs to have breakfast. Eggs Benedict and cooked to perfection. The spread was fantastic and would satisfy the biggest of eaters and overall, the standard of what was offered was far in excess of expectations. Would recommend without hesitation and when we return to this quaint little place, we will definitely be booking our room here!
Rating: 5 / 5
We popped in for a spot of lunch while visiting sights around Dorchester. The landlady of the cottages we rented highly recommended the pub and even contacted them about allergens in their foods to help support one of our party who is suffering some medically induced food issues at the moment. The staff were absolutely superb and did everything they could to ensure we had an excellent experience there. The food was typical pub grub, but at its finest and the prices were absolutely spot on. We will be visiting again.
