Rating: 4.5 (1596) Price Level:

Visited The Sun Inn whilst staying in a holiday cottage 5 mins walk away. We booked in for a second time that week because we enjoyed it so much! Highly recommend the carvery, it was delicious. Can’t fault the staff, they were all lovely and so attentive. Great atmosphere, and great pub in general. Would suggest booking in advance because it’s very popular.

Thank you for accommodating us as walk-ins for the Sunday Roast. The food was delicious, the staff were welcoming, the atmosphere was warm, relaxed and peaceful (some places can be very noisy during afternoon roast dinners). We have also tried the outdoor seating previously for some nibbles and the review remains exactly the same. We really enjoyed on both occasions and we will definitely return.

Have had two visits over the Christmas holidays and both times and found the food, service and atmosphere really good. Have not had the carvery yet but the beef burger, chicken burger, pie of the day and cold cuts have been good value and filling. Many thanks to all at the Sun Inn

We found The Sun Inn on google maps last minute, are plans had changed. What a find, lovely welcome and a very nice carvery , roast beef or turkey loads of veg all hot and fresh. I recommend booking in advance as it was very busy, they squeezed us in on a barrel table, not suitable for everyone, we didn’t mind they asked us first.

Really friendly welcome from all the staff. We didn't stay here, just a quick visit as we were in a shepherds hut down the road. Nice village pub with a lovely friendly feeling. The beer garden was good and the feedback from lunchtime was positive from all the customers. Definitely worth a visit.

This was a very good place for a family celebration lunch for 12, including 3 children. My parsnip was inedible, but the roast beef was delicious. Our 3 vegetarians said their squash wellington was delicious. Leanne and Ben were very helpful in accommodating us. It is the fourth time I have had lunch at the pub and it has always been good.

The Frampton Arms

Station Rd, Moreton, Dorchester DT2 8BB, UK | Pub
P: 01305 852253

Rating: 4.4 (1145) Price Level:

Just had a two night stay here at this beautifully presented pub/b&b. Staff were friendly and helpful, always polite. Room was clean and had everything we needed. It’s on the train line which doesn’t feel intrusive. The food was really nice in the evenings (didn’t eat lunch there), we were a big group one evening and there were two small issues but they were sorted. The first morning, arrived to breakfast and it wasn’t ready and staff didn’t know why, they quickly sorted it out tho. The only downside for us was breakfast, as there is no hot option.

Lovely place, nice spacious rooms with air conditioning, decent telly and comfortable bed. Very clean and tidy, with a nice powerful shower. I really had to dig deep to find any fault with the place, and the only thing I did find wrong was that the toilet roll holder was was a bit loose. The continental breakfast had a good range of food, and was a nice way to start the day.

On arrival, after making a online booking, we were nearly turned away as staff said there was no reservations in our name, we had to prove it was booked from our online correspondence. Staff then found us a table, but advised us we had to go because that table was booked out at a certain time. We had our main meal, but didn't have a desert as we would have outstayed our welcome, only to find that upon leaving most of the restaurant was practicly empty, very disappointing. Apart from the above, the food and service was very good.

My bestie Jane and I visited Moreton church, a beautiful tranquil place. We decided to be ladies that lunch and stopped at the Frampton Arms where we had a lovely lunch. The pub has a charming atmosphere, where the staff are chatty, friendly and our food was delicious and at a reasonable price, well worth a visit.

What a lovely place! We stayed here for 1 night. The room was so cozy and clean, the shower was fantastic. Sunday roast dinner and bread pudding after were absolutely delicious. Continental breakfast in the morning, which was free, had a great variety and assortment of yummy things. The stuff was very courteous and pleasant. Highly recommend!

Springhead

110 Sutton Rd, Sutton Poyntz, Weymouth DT3 6LW, UK | Pub
P: 01305 832117

Rating: 4.3 (1754) Price Level:

Myself and some friends have been renting a cottage just a short walk from the Springhead, a couple of times a year for the last 7 or 8 years, and we make a point of going out for a good Sunday roast. We've tried most of the well known pubs in the vicinity over the years, some of which have been a little hit and miss, but out of all of them The Springhead has been the most consistently excellent.

Located in a gorgeous dainty village, so cute. We had starters and mains, mostly the food wad delicious some small issues with the starters, the squid was fairly chewy. The atmosphere was nice but the service lacked a little at times. Things weren't communicated that great between staff, customers, and food wait times. Overall, we all enjoyed our food and the pub in general.

Visited for a midweek meal with my mum on 10th April. The exterior and interior is lovely - well decorated with nice furnishings. Very friendly service, and all food ordered was delicious. Mum spoke very highly of the gammon & mustard pie of the day, and my Springhead smoke house burger was perfectly seasoned. The salted caramel cheesecake was a delicious addition for dessert. We left Springhead very impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!

The Countryman Inn

Rating: 4.2 (980) Price Level:

We booked a table for 9 for a special birthday. It was very busy so definitely book ahead but even with a full restaurant we had wonderful service, all of the team were smiling and clearly happy to work there. The wait for food was not too long and it was hot and served quickly, great menu with something for everyone. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderful evening…food, drinks, service and atmosphere were all 5 star. Well done to all of the team at the Countryman, we will be back again soon. Great to have such a wonderful country pub close by.

Today we have had a lovely family celebration lunch at the Countryman, it was truly excellent. The quality of the local produce used and the care taken in cooking and serving it is a very refreshing change these days. The prices are extremely reasonable and really hope this great team continue to succeed and survive these very tough times, in what from personal experience we know to be a very tough business. Thank you

My partner and I spent the New Year at the Duchess of Cornwall Inn and had an enjoyable stay. The room had plenty of character, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We also dined at the hotel's pub/restaurant, which was a nice experience. Conveniently located in the heart of Poundbury, the hotel is just a short stroll from Dorchester. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

I was on a one night walking break and feeling a little out of sorts. A lovely lady Hebe really looked after me and made me feel so welcome. I called in for a snack and coffee but booked a room. The amazing hospitality continued the next morning with delicious breakfast and Ellis really looked after me. I’ve only been away once on my own before and they really gave me confidence to do it again.

If you're looking for a cozy pub that delivers on all fronts, this is the place! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed Sunday afternoon. The Sunday roast here is absolutely top-notch. The portions are generous, and the quality is superb. What really sets this pub apart, though, is the service. The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. From the moment you walk in, you feel right at home. They’re attentive without being intrusive and always make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. Karli served us today and Hebe greeted us. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a hearty Sunday roast in a charming, welcoming setting!

Just back from a fabulous 2 nights here. What a lovely place, would highly recommend to anyone thinking of going. We were made very welcome and the staff were so friendly. The food was lovely and my husband said especially the breakfast. I'm sorry I didn't get one of the managers names who spoke to us this morning, just after breakfast, but she was so nice and a credit to The Smugglers. We will be back.

We’ve just returned from a wonderful two-night stay at The Smugglers Inn. On arrival, Lloyd greeted us and made us feel welcome instantly - before any money had even exchanged hands he made sure we were ‘fed and watered’ after our long drive. Nothing was too much effort for any of the staff…. Special mentions to Rafaela our waitress,Ella, and the bar-staff who really looked after us. The Sunday lunch was fantastic, great menu in general and a great breakfast spread! The room was spotless, cozy and well-equipped. It was my partners birthday and they went out of their way to make it special for him. We would definitely recommend staying here and we have already talked about returning one day. Thanks again to ALL the staff for making our stay so special. Sam and Phil

P: 01929 400333

Rating: 4.3 (1879) Price Level:

We very nearly didn't eat here because of some poor reviews but both the service and the food was excellent! We requested a quiet table as we had a dog and were seated in the snug area which was delightful. The food was delicious and there was a great choice of vegetarian options which makes a nice change. The waiting staff were really friendly and attentive and we really could fault nothing so not sure were the bad reviews come from and I would highly recommend eating here.

Among the best inns I've ever visited. The room was perfectly prepared and we were lucky to have a room with a view on the cove. The complimentary breakfast was incredible. In addition to a bountiful buffet they offer (multiple) warm meals which are all amazing in and of themselves. The service leaves nothing to be desired whatsoever. The interior is charming; there are sundry memorabilia to do with the cove and the place; some of them a good 70 years old. We definitely enjoyed this historic insight. hope I get the chance to come here again sometime.

We are staying at a small campsite not far away and this is the nearest pub so headed down Thursday for a drink with the dog to check it out. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming and the food looked amazing so we booked a table for Friday evening. Again everyone was friendly, service was good, the dog was made to feel very welcome too, she was offered a dog bed and given her own doggy menu so it’s super dog friendly which is always a bonus. The food was absolutely delicious, between us we had the smoked pork board and the smoked beef board and really enjoyed it. Always nice to be made welcome when away. We would definitely return if in the area again.

My family and I had lunch here, we all really enjoyed our meals. 4 of us had roasts and 2 of us had burgers. The chips were really nice. The hostess was absolutely lovely, really kind, funny and lifted the mood. The young waiters seemed quite new and unfortunately there was a bit of a wait for drinks and the bill, and drinks were a bit expensive (£4.20 for a coke). However, I loved the atmosphere of the pub, it was really pretty and nice and quiet where we sat. Got to see lots of dogs! Wi-Fi is an added bonus :) I would recommend coming here, very good for a large group too.

Lodges are great and more spacious than same price caravan accommodation we usually get elsewhere for same price. They are embedded in the woodland which is very nice. Good choice activities from teens to 5 yo which really helped. The pool is a family friendly leisure pool and we enjoyed the wave machine and slide everyday. Staff really are super friendly and deal with any problems or questions quickly. We want to book again and come back. It's a great place to be on site as well as base to visit coast and other attractions.

We had a lovely time staying at Warmwell. Our lodge was clean and comfortable, and we thought the bed was very comfortable too. The park has a good range of facilities for all ages. We enjoyed the arcade and the indoor swimming pool was good fun. The cooked breakfast was nice from the Boathouse bar and restaurant. The park is a good place to base yourself in its region of Dorset, with Weymouth and Dorchester not too far away.

Thought I would send a review, as I had read a few bad ones and we recently had a family break there, and it was really lovely. Fair enough we had one of the top of the range lodges, with a hot tub, so I appreciate it might not be the same in all lodges but it was really nice and well equipped, with a good kitchen & bathrooms, and comfortable bedrooms. The site seems to have some nice facilities for younger children and the restaurants & takeaway stalls offered a nice selection of food. Honestly why would you pay 3 or 4 times as much to go to centre parcs, I am happy to recommend and go back to this site.
