Located at the end of a primarily single track lane, you'll find this charming pub. If arriving between 2pm and 6pm the owners will give you instruction how to access your room. Starting with the accomodation - the bed was larger than average and exceptionally comfortable. A couple of very tasty homemade biscuits awaited us on the room's serving tray. How lovely! Tea and coffee also in the room, however the milk is kept in the fridge at the bottom of a very short corridor. Disappointingly, one of our folded 'clean' large towels was still dirty, and whilst not affecting us personally it may be worth noting that the shower cubicle is on the smaller side with an older model Mira shower. You'll need to turn the main dial to the left, and the water temperature reaches hot almost instantly. We'd booked an evening meal for 6.30pm, and whilst the dining area was pretty empty at this point within an hour it was full. My meal was heavenly, I cannot praise it enough - a starter of salt & pepper squid on a garlic and lime mayonnaise, a main of sticky beef with rice and an Indonesian-style salad. Absolutely amazing! Breakfast was wonderful too - a small selection of cereals (Weetabix, Alpen or Cornflakes), with the option of pre-prepaired chopped fruits and natural yogurt; followed by a full English. I'd definitely recommend a visit to this pub if you don't mind a drive down a narrow lane -you'll probably not find a more tranquil location.

Only had Sunday lunch here. It was great. Pork and apple, before that a delicious mushroom soup. Dessert was good, but you could argue the fine points of Dorset apple tart!

Such a marvelous location that serves great food made from local produce. Vegetables and fruit grown in their own garden, Dorset meats and shellfish, and good beer. Excellent playground, so kids are entertained. Would highly recommend.

The Fox Inn

Corscombe, Dorchester DT2 0NS, UK | Pub
P: 01935 310790

Rating: 4.6 (272) Price Level:

Lovely hospitable pub, staff/owner very friendly and helpful. Food was absolutely lovely! Understandably quiet for a mid-week evening but perfect for the first night of our holiday. Only slight down side was quite a few little annoying fruit flies around the place, seemingly wherever we sat we couldn’t get away from them! Staff very apologetic though & explained that they’d only appeared in the last couple of days.

visited twice for a meal whilst on our holiday in Corscombe, the appeal of the pub from the outside is more than matched by the authenticity of the inside, with friendly staff, great beers and lovely pies

It was our first time dining at The Fox Inn. The grade II listed pub that greeted us was a fantastic start. The Oyster I sampled was excellent. The Sunday Roast was the best roast I have ever had. The potatoes were amazing as was the beef and pork. The team were very accommodating with our 4 year old daughter. Being from London meant the prices were on a par with pubs that offer average at best roast dinner’s. Would highly recommend. Only minor feedback would be to make the dishes holding the vegetables warmer other than that it was flawless.

The Fox Inn is hugely popular with the locals and is a quality, idyllic, thatched roof pub with a historically top reputation for all the points that matter.. including open fire in winter and antique taxidermy! Quaint and tidy with different pleasant spots to sit and gather. Conservatory is popular for meals. Outdoor picnic tables under trees, by the stream are inviting on sunny days. If it turns chilly, Throws are available and Games too. Dog friendly for friendly dogs and there's even a jar of pet treats available. Brews rotate covering local beers/ales and ciders. Choice of spirits including the locally conceived Black Cow vodka. Lovage liquor (Shhhh) is a sacred favourite with a few locals but currently sourcing is an issue. Meals have been good .. prices all over the country, if not the world, have jumped and it's now circa £20 for a meal. Roast on weekends. Music on Sundays. Closed Mondays. Plenty of parking out front & rear. A place like this needs a jovial and engaging publican at the helm and they have it in Graham. This place and it's people will forever hold a special place in my heart ❤️.

Hare & Hounds Inn

Slape Hill, Waytown, Bridport DT6 5LQ, UK | Pub
P: 01308 488203

Rating: 4.6 (265) Price Level:

Some places just stand out and should be recognised as such. Bob and Jenny have not been at Hare and Hounds too long, but by goodness me, what they do there should be emanated across the service industry. Small, but absolutely fabulous pub and food is immense. Try it, try it today, you will NOT be disappointed. I always say, you tell a place by the toilets.... and this one they are A1*

Walked here from Pineapple Farm Campsite, we enjoyed a lovely lunch and a couple of pints. Good local pub & highly recommended.

Probably the best country pub in the world! Bob and Jenny are wonderful, genuinely warm hosts. The food is fairly traditional in style and incredible. It's a Palmers pub which is okay ( Palmer's 'Tally ho' is a great pint) The atmosphere is just what you need from a country pub in my opinion. Unfussy, unhurried, mud and dog friendly, and possibly the best beer garden view on the planet.

We really enjoyed our visit and was one of the highlights of our trip when visiting Dorset. The service and food were fantastic and locally sourced, just wished we knew who the butcher was so we could buy some meat to take home with us! There is a lot of outdoor seating with a lovely view. We hope to come back again, thank you!

My partner and I spent three wonderful days at Summer Lodge to celebrate her special birthday. The staff were consistently courteous, professional and friendly: we were received with a special birthday tea and a lovely welcoming message from the managers. Our room was perfect, the meals were delicious, the grounds are delightful and the location is ideal for exploring the glorious Hardy Country (incidentally, Thomas Hardy was an architect who designed a wing of Summer Lodge). We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly return. Stephen Friar

We had a fabulous 2 night stay here. It's in a lovely little village, very quintessentially English. Staff were really lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was really lovely, with a welcome drink and snack. We also tried a treatment in the spa and really enjoyed that too. There was even water and a cookie for our journey home.

We stayed on the dinner, room, bed & breakfast deal and had a fabulous time. The room and decor was pleasant, if not spectacular it was clean and well kept with all you need for a flying visit, but the service and food was as of the highest order. The team are friendly and professional, always on point, and the food was outstanding. The menu was interesting, with just the right variety and the produce was fresh and cooked with creativity and talent - one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time and as such, great value too. Would recommend highly, thanks for having us, we will be back!

We visited the Half Moon whilst on our minimoon in Dorset. We wanted a lovely “home cooked” Sunday roast and boy did they deliver. The food was exceptional. They also had a band playing in the garden and a magician coming round to the tables (when you weren’t eating) and it was great! Highly recommend and if we’re ever back in the area, we’d definitely visit again.

Really nice pub with log fires. Very welcoming and dog friendly as well. Food was very nice and reasonably priced. If being really critical to them, then they could do with being a little bit more flexible around the menu...ie.. can't have the lamb with chips, can't have a sweetcorn as a kids side meal... As they only have enough for the steak meals that it comes with.. As i say, it's being super critical, not a deal breaker and didn't spoil a lovely meal.

Hive Beach Cafe Burton Bradstock

Beach Rd, Burton Bradstock, Bridport DT6 4RF, UK | Seafood Restaurant
P: 01308 897070

Rating: 4.3 (3779) Price Level:

This is a well loved beach cafe which has beautiful scenic views, it is very popular and rightly so. The menu is mainly fish and seafood dishes. However, they do a smashing full English breakfast up to 11.30 am. I will post pics. This dog friendly beach cafe has a carpark close by, but if you choose to walk along the cliff top path or the lower paths, you will walk within the most beautiful scenery. This is a totally table service venue, so once you are seated, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. Prices are reasonable.

Huge muscles in a nicely balanced blue cheese cream sauce. The fish chowder was also lovely, great tasting fish and fresh veg. We enjoyed on a wet and windy day, outside seating had heaters which warmed us up nicely. Would recommend after a walk.

We arrived at 11.20, just in time to order breakfast. We were lucky to get the table on the edge of the 'tent' overlooking the beach. Despite being quite busy we received very efficient service. The food arrived within 15- 20 min, then our hot drinks. We had 3 x full English and egg Benedict on muffin with bacon. Everyone enjoyed it. The only nuisance were a few wasps but not a lot to spoil our experience.

Came here today, after walking from our campsite at Graston Copse through Burton Bradstock village. A warm welcome by a member of staff & shown to our outside table for 4 with 3 dogs. Our waitress took our drinks order & returned after a few minutes to take our food order. She was very friendly and attentive, giving time for a chat despite being extremely busy. Wait for our food was minimal and when it arrived it was hot, tasty & well presented. Back ground music was pleasant, giving the Mediterranean feeling due to the sunshine. Wouldn't hesitate in returning if we are in the area again .... thank you.
