Spent a long weekend here with my family celebrating a 50th birthday. Round Chimneys is a very well equipped, listed old period farmhouse situated on a working farm. Large bedrooms with really comfortable beds. warm central heating throughout with the added bonus of wood burners. The large kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need. There are ample bathrooms situated over 3 levels with stairgates. There is a small games room with pool table and plenty of books, toys, games etc., free WiFi and the property is dog friendly. This house is hundreds of years old and furnished sympathetically. Don't expect the furnishings to be pristine, you could describe them as 'careworn' but I think it is in keeping with the style of this old building. There is plenty of parking close to the house which is set in stunning countryside. Owners are always on hand and are very friendly and welcoming. The small farmshop/cafe on site is worth a look. The lovely town of Sherborne is only a 15 minute drive away. I would definitely stay here again.

A lovely laid back and helpful welcoming family that run the place. Thoroughly enjoyed staying there, stayed there with my family twice now and visited the cafe there once during the day. Ideal place for relaxation, scenery, and enjoying the cafe and seeing the farm animals. Highly recommend Edit. Clean and well equipped amenities too Thank you

Enjoyed a relaxed family stay cation is both the houses, it was A-MAZE-ING❤️All I can describe it was like being in a film. As a massive animal lover myself, I got to meet and greet all of the animals, they were beautiful and also a big thank you to the farmers/owners who were lovely and walked us around the farm. The cottage is clean tidy and always a joy to be in. Most definitely cannot wait to be back for next Christmas!!

We booked a weekend here for 8 friends, who were planning on meeting, we all lived around the UK and one of us actually flew over from Sweden to visit, and I can happily say we were all blown away with how beautiful the place was. We stayed in the Round Chimney’s Farm House, with 5 bedrooms and 12 beds, This place was PERFECT for us. Little did we realise how fantastic our stay really would be. The online photo’s just don’t do it enough justice. Our arrival was early because we were so excited for our weekend to begin, in which Rachel welcomed us and showed us the on site Café & Shop whilst we waited, we enjoyed a pot of tea and appreciated the beautiful shop, selling cakes, lunch, and meat and cheese from the farm, as well as the stunning paintings and art for sale on the walls. We were then given access to the house which we must of ran around several times just to take in it’s beauty. Everything was clean, well-made with bedding, towels and throws if needed, the lighting and space was perfect and the gift of a late of flapjacks per person went down a treat. There was everything you needed and more, all dining needs plates, cups, mugs, cutlery you need not worry. We all had the chance to pet and was also offered an onsite tour of the farm with the animals, on the way in you can visit the Donkey’s and a friendly Goat, moving onto the cows who certainly know how to sound a friendly hello, moving onto the baby goats. We were lucky to find one of the cow had given birth whilst we visited, on site there are 3 dogs who roam the farm who we all instantly fell in love with and even invited them inside to grab plenty of cuddles and belly rubs! As our guests slowly arrived from travelling they each had the same reactions running from each floor oohing an aahing at the house. The games room was defintatley a big reason for choosing our booking, entertaining us all weekend with matches of pool and using the living room for movies in the evening. We made use of the outdoor fire pit in the evening and roasted marshmallows and made shmores. We were invited on the Saturday to a Pub Night the Farm was hosting to celebrate their 1 year anniversary of the Café & Shop with drinks and a local pizza van catering which is the only disappointment we had as we we’re told order would be ready at a certain time, and once ordering yes I know ALOT, but 8 pizza’s we were told he could only make 1, so we luckily found a takeaway open to deliver, which being away from town was hard to track any late food places, but was to NO fault of the farm itself. The owner was so friendly and welcoming, and honestly has such a warm presence and made us all feel at home, not one of us wanted to leave, and spent many hours continuously visiting the cows and goats, we did however on the Saturday spent the day together at Longleat Zoo and had a fantastic time, however the cows and goats were first on the agenda when returning to the farm that evening. Thank you very much for an amazing stay! The price was perfect for us, the stay and the beds.. oh gosh we all agreed it was the best nights sleep we’ve had with the most comfortable beds and bedding and the showers were heaven! I think we must of all showered a thousand times over! 5 STARS recommend anyone to visit and stay here, suitable for families and children too, though we were an ALL adult group, the games room had plenty of toys and books for children, TV’s all had Freeview and there was an Xbox 360 too with some games to play and able to play DVDs which we brought, also access to a travel cot, gates on the stairs and an ironing board, iron and hair dryer was available if needed.

My family have stayed in The Farmhouse at Round Chimneys Farm several times now, it is amazing I can't recommend it highly enough, Rachel and her family are the best hosts, allowing my grandchildren to feed the lambs, collect the chicken eggs and have tractor rides! The Farmhouse is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, the house is spotless with beautiful white sheets and plenty of thick white towels, I have recommended many friends who have also been more than once.

Old Post Office Holiday Cottage

We had a wonderful weeks stay here this past week. The cottage has everything you could wish for, plus other welcome touches such as a generous hamper of goodies, as well as treats and towels for the dogs. The garden is very secure and secluded, and the hot tub and garden furniture is lovely too. We walked across the fields to the Hunters moon, great pub. It’s only a 10 minute drive to Sherborne which is very picturesque with a good array of shops and places to eat and drink. We really hope to come back as it really was a treat to get to stay in such a beautiful home.

We were two couples and a dog staying for a week at the beginning of June 2024. The Old Post Office was immaculate; a wonderful place to stay for the week and the property has been exceedingly well thought out for the convenience of a short stay. Loads of thoughtful touches around the house which were really impressive. Also, it's obvious that the owners are dog owners and loads of small dog friendly touches as well. We had a minor niggle early in the stay, but I must say that the owners, Kerry and Emma, were responsive, attentive and resolved the issue promptly. It's clear to us that Kerry and Emma are rightly proud of their property and the experience they provide, and serious about making sure their guests have a wonderful time. We did have a wonderful time and can highly recommend. Thank you to Kerry and Emma!

We had a lovely week at the Old Post Office which is well located for exploring Sherborne and the surrounding countryside and not too far from the south coast. It’s a very quiet location, but easy to get to. Several good pubs close by for eating out. The house has been beautifully renovated and looks very smart - a really nice amalgamation of old feel and modern facilities. The welcome hamper was a really nice touch and full of delicious foods. All the numerous thoughtful touches - from excellent kitchen equipment, to hot-tub towels, and the dog accessories - they make for a really comfortable stay. We really enjoyed our stay, the fantastic weather, and the friendly local people. Would highly recommend

We had a great week in the Old Post Office, it was very comfortable and was clear lots of care and attention had gone into the recent refurb, both from the perspective of how the cottage is set up to the little things that make for a relaxing and enjoyable week away. We were impressed when we first walked in and all of us enjoyed our stay, even without the weather to make full use of the garden and hot tub! We’d love to be back when we next visit Dorset.

Everyone in our party loved their stay at the Old Post Office Cottage, despite deplorable weather outside! If you like a soak in an outdoor hot tub during rain (we did), this is the place for you! Every part of the cottage reflects its rural English heritage; it’s old, but refurbished to a high standard that retains real atmosphere. All bedrooms are large and comfortable (two with very well designed en-suits), and there’s a feature bathroom with a classy and highly unusual roll-edged free-standing copper bath. The kitchen is large well equipped, with a spacious dining area adjoining that looks out onto the garden. A big well-furnished lounge complete with log-burner is, like the rest of the cottage, filled with well chosen (some would say ‘up-market’) interior design detailing. We highly recommend the Old Post Office Cottage to others, and would certainly go back - hopefully to enjoy more sun next time!

Wonderful stay for two nights. Have stayed here before and standards are high. Great hosts - welcoming, friendly and informative. Delicious breakfast to keep you going all day and a spacious and comfortable room; we stayed in the Red Room this time but have also stayed in the Blue Room which is a lovely room too. Rupert provides real milk for hot drinks in your room (better than long life milk portions usually provided) and can recommend places nearby to eat or places of interest to visit. Nutmeg the terrier will keep an eye on you. Overall a great place to stay, we hope to be back soon.

Greeted by the owner on arrival, who was incredibly welcoming. He was kind enough to make me a hot chocolate and let me sit in the garden and relax which was exactly what I needed. Warm and cosy room with an en-suite with an enormous walk in shower with great pressure. He made a recommendation for dinner and even made a reservation, which turned out to be lovely. I had to leave early the next day in which case he did an early full English breakfast. Highly recommend!

This is a wonderful place to stay near Sherborne. I stayed a night there and couldn't have asked for more from a B and B. Rupert and Camilla (and Nutmeg the dog) were charming, friendly and attentive to all my needs. The room was extremely comfortable and clean and the whole house peaceful and quiet. The garden deserves special mention; it has a beautiful expansive lawn which is lovely to look out over during breakfast. And the food was superb. I had the scrambled eggs with salmon which was perfect; not too heavy as cooked breakfasts can sometimes be. All in all a great experience - I can't recommend highly enough.

Decent lunch. I would have preferred a bit less of the “brulee” and a bit more crab meat, maybe with a bit of a citrus twist. We saved our bread and butter that came out at the start as it does need that. The meat (chicken and duck) were good quality but maybe lacked a bit of seasoning. Fries were tasty.

We had an incredible experience at the Cross Keys. Mo and his team hosted my Father's funeral wake yesterday. The whole experience was incredible - made so special by Mo, Lucy, David and the girls. Nothing was too much trouble, and we felt completely wrapped up in their arms from the moment we walked through the door to make the arrangements, right through to the day itself. I cannot thank the team enough for creating such a special celebration, which you planned so incredibly well. The delicious food platters were superb, and all the guests said what a beautiful venue it was. I was personally nurtured throughout the whole day, with Mo and Lucy checking in with me to make sure everything was perfect - and even David coming in on his day off to make sure my Dad's favourite music was being played. I can't thank them all enough from the bottom of my heart for all their kindness. We stayed in their family suite for the night. Our room was superb, with the biggest bed I've ever slept in, and beautiful views out onto the market square and the Conduit. I can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Cross Keys - the service is exceptional, the rooms amazing, and the breakfast was superb. We also had our evening meal in the restaurant, and it was exceptional. THANK YOU TO THE WHOLE TEAM AT THE CROSS KEYS - YOU ARE ALL AMAZING.

What a surprise treat! I visited this restaurant with family when staying in the area for a weekend away, and what a gorgeous find this was! Situated right in the heart of Sherborne (which is a charming town to visit regardless) this restaurant was just fabulous. The menu was fab, tapas dishes inspired by Italy but using West Country produce - what's not to love! Staff were friendly and accommodating, the drinks selection was vast and impressive and the food quality was truly 10/10. Would definitely be back if I lived closer! This place gets very busy over weekend so definitely book in advance, and also would recommend arriving for an earlier sitting rather than later before it gets too busy.

Lovely late lunch. Quality food and friendly, accommodating staff. The outside looks fairly drab and some of the Italian signage is slightly incongruous (are Wadsworths synonymous with Italian dining? No), but don't be put off, the inside is far, far better with modern styling in a traditional setting. Not cheap but where is these days.
