We meet with friends on Sunday for lunch, and all went for the burgers. These were as per our other visits, amazing. We did see a few roasts go out, and questioned our choice, as these looked incredible. The staff were friendly and provided some really good banter, to make it a great atmosphere. At the end, the Landlord place a huge plate of the lovely Yorkshire pubs on the bar for anyone that wanted one for free. Our friends were extremely impressed and will most certainly be going back.

Fantastic food and beer in a lovely pub. Posh fish n chips from the specials board was amazing. Service was attentive without being intrusive. A little pricey but I did close the most expensive thing on the menu. That's quite a few birthdays we have celebrated here.

Out on my bike today and needed a coffee. I was on some quiet roads andso was very happy to come across this bar, cafe, restaurant. It looks very nice inside. Today was only for a coffee but also had a homemade sausage roll which turned out to be beautiful. The guys warmed it up for me too!. I was disappointed that they didn’t have skimmed milk but as I was on a long ride it was all good. The coffee was, however, very nice, they made it extra hot for me and made it in a larger cup which was more cappuccino style. Price for the 2 was £7.25. The place was popular with people having meals out in the sun and other cyclists. Plenty of parking. I’d love to return.

Visited this pub on a cycling trip. Had a warm welcome on arrival. Menu was really good and lunch bar snacks were great. Fish finger sandwich was just delicious. Proper cod fish fingers, really delicious. Bar man filled up our water bottles with fresh cold water that was most welcomed. All in all what an amazing village pub. Well worth a trip out for the food.

We were recommended to eat lunch here at The Duke of Wellington by one of the locals we met in the street. Great value, piping hot food, served promptly and with a friendly smile! Thank you especially to Susie who made my mum and dad feel very welcome. The ham, egg and chips were really tasty as was the scampi. Lagers and beer were also great! We all really enjoyed our delicious food and a nice window seat. We will definitely visit again and recommend this super pub!

Camping up the road at Huntick Farm, we came into the Chequers Inn late lunch time for a bite to eat and we were pleasantly surprised they had a gluten free food option (my wife is coeliac) and we could take our dog in too. The GF Thai Fishcakes were amazing and we felt really looked after during our visit. Murphy our staffie got plenty of loves from everyone, so he was very happy too. We loved it so much we came back for a GF breakfast the next day and we were not disappointed with this either. We fully recommend the Chequers Inn.

I have to say this is one of the best roast dinners I've had in Dorset for a long time!!! It had been many years since I visited this cosy pub in lytchette but it didn't disappoint at all! The restaurant was full up with diners, we were seated in the conservatory which was comfortable, bright and spacious! A good variety of drinks were available, the wine was really tasty too (I'm quite fussy) but the roast was on another level and very affordable priced! It was superb and totally worth it. Looking forward to booking again sometime soon :)

Our experience at the Old Granary left us with mixed emotions and sadly we won't return. this was our third lunch here and we were excited to bring a good friend with us. We are not local to the area and had not vistied on a Saturday before. On our arrival we were surprised to find that the parking area was filled with a market and we had no idea where we could park. We pulled over and our guest popped in to enquire as to where we could find parking. He was met by a frosty unhelpful lady who shrugged and said she didn't know, and by her attitutude she didn't care either. Fortunately when stopping the gentleman also assiting at front of house, some directions to parking were proferred. The first impression for our guest though was not what we had hoped for. Our table was in a loud and busy area, which would have made it impossible for conversation, something to note when making your booking. Fortunately, and a plus on the service experience, we were able to be seated in a quieter area. The Old Granary is an attractively detailed pub and we liked the decor. Issey, our server was fabulous. Great smile, engaging and she rescued the lunch on the whole. Food wise, we had the Larder sharing platter which was well presented and tasty, classic fish and chips, the chicken and bacon pie, and the sirloin. The sirloin was not the best and quite pricey even for steak, and was a bit of a disappointment. After a rainy day the sun evetually broke through the clouds and we wanted to take advantage of the deck area alongside the river for a drink and dessert. As requested duly settled our account and headed outside with our drinks, I popped inside for a menu to be told by front of house that because of the weather no food was being served outside, not even dessert. This was in case the rain returned and we needed to come inside and tables were not available. It was late afternoon, between sittings with many empty tables, and when settling our lunch bill I had stated we wanted to have dessert outside and was told that this would not be a problem. We were a table of 3 an our bill was about £50per person... Overall not very hospitable, and not what we expected from our previous lunches a disappointing end to our afternoon.

Lovely pub on the river. Lots of covered seating outside overlooking the river. Also plenty of seats inside. Good choice of food and bar snacks. Dogs welcome. Nice friendly atmosphere.

Lovely pub/restaurant set next to the river in Wareham. Good selection of local beers with staff very nice and friendly. Food is plentiful and good quality. Visited out of season, but suspect gets very busy other times, so best to book.

I was staying at the Royal Oak for Easter, I pointed out a few issues and management could not have been more reactive and went over a beyond to make my stay enjoyable. They hide their light under a bushel and are too shy to advertise their environmentally-friendly incentives in the rooms. If you need to stay in Bere Regis, go for the Royal Oak, it is comfy and quiet and you'll get a great service.

Cannot score rooms as we did not stay here. Apart from this we did eat here and it was a brilliant meal. All four of us ate extremely well and went home very full. 5 * all round to everyone in the kitchen & elsewhere.

We were pleasantly suprised, good value food and drink, and both high quality. We visited during a circular walk from Wooders Campsite through to Bere Regis and back enjoying toasties and a cider here at the mid point.

Great Service, Friendly Staff, and Convenient Amenities I recently visited this restaurant and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience. While the food was not exceptional, it wasn't bad either—it fell somewhere in the "so-so" category. The flavors were decent, but I felt it lacked that extra touch to make it truly memorable. However, the other aspects of the restaurant made up for it. The service was absolutely amazing. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in, and their professionalism and helpfulness throughout my meal were commendable. Their warmth and attentiveness truly enhanced my dining experience. One highlight of this restaurant is the wonderful staff. They were knowledgeable about the menu, eager to assist with any requests, and genuinely cared about ensuring my satisfaction. Their exceptional service definitely left a positive impression on me. Additionally, it was a pleasant surprise to find free WiFi available. It's always convenient to have access to the internet while dining, whether for work, socializing, or simply staying connected. The provision of this amenity shows that the restaurant understands and values the needs of its customers. While the food may not have blown me away, the excellent service, friendly staff, and the convenience of free WiFi make this restaurant a decent choice. If you're looking for a place with a pleasant ambiancebiance, attentive staff, and the ability to stay connected online, this restaurant might just fit the bill.

Lovely village pub in the village of Wool. Near Bovington tank museum and Monkey World. Compared to the surrounding areas The Black Bear is very reasonable. Light lunches and some specials always available. Great selection of ales and wines. Big garden and seating inside also. Plenary of parking around the area.

The roast dinner here on a Sunday is outstanding. Big portion, great value for money. The lamb was delicious and all the vegetables were perfect for my tastes. This is a classic country pub atmosphere with friendly staff and a comfortable decor.

The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was well cooked and hot apart from the chips that came with the steak which was slightly disappointing. The service was fantastic. The ladies that looked after us were friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Overall we had a lovely Boxing Day lunch and we will return.

We weren’t staying at the hotel, but had dinner here on a Sunday night during a trip to Wareham/Ridge for my brother’s birthday. The staff were friendly and attentive on arrival, and we felt well looked after. No sign of Chef Carmy but I assume he was busy at the pass. The food was all delicious! I had the pork belly and it was some of the best I can remember having! Nice and crispy on the fat side, not too fatty, and not too oily or chewy. Just perfect overall, and topped with an amazing salsa verde! The accompanying potatoes and veg were also delicious. Everyone else’s meals were excellent, came exactly as asked, and were all well portioned and flavourful. I’d politely recommend The Bear to anyone visiting Wareham, and will be back if I’m ever down in these parts again.

My wife and I booked a table for Sunday lunch. The service was brilliant, staff are polite and friendly and try their best to do a good job. My wife had a traditional Sunday roast and I had chargrilled sea bass, both followed by apple crumble and ice cream. Orders were taken shortly after we arrived with our meals arriving shortly after. Both meals were cooked to perfection and were piping hot. Tables were cleared quickly and our dessert order was taken. Every aspect of the service was 1st class. Many thanks to the staff & chefs for a lovely Sunday lunch. Easiest 5* review for a long time. Please see my pictures. 👍🙂

Spent three nights at The Bear whilst visiting the area for an Autumn break. Perfect location for visiting the Etches collection, Arne nature reserve and the coast. Lovely decor in the room, very comfy and cosy bed, good quality teas abd coffees provided. We stayed in Fozzie room which was towards the back and very quiet overnight. We used the Autumn offer and had one discounted meal and free bottle of wine. The food was excellent. Also one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. All the staff we met were so friendly and welcoming, thank you and we will definitely return!

Service with a smile and a jolly atmosphere inside. Visited for food only and did not stay overnight. My partner and I both had the house burger which was to die for! A solid and tasty beef patty in a toasted bun with a bucket of fries is always a winner! 🍔 🤩 Passing visit for a quick stop to eat after a long drive. Easy access with plenty of parking. Was busy when we visited so service was slower than we would normally expect. Slightly on the more pricey side.
