We contracted Harry to build a new roof and install new floors for an extension we were having built on our house and I have nothing but good to say about him and his company. The work was simply exceptional, outstanding quality and nothing was a problem. If ever plans had to be tweaked Harry simply worked with the change and made proactive suggestions as to how to make things better. He was respectful and considerate, cleaning up at the end of every day and ensuring my house was secure if he left before I returned in an evening. Harry and his assistant Fred, always arrived on time, and worked long days to ensure everything was completed on deadline. I can whole heartedly recommend HL Thomson Carpentry and will certainly be using them again in the future.

Refurbishment of existing staircase and galleried landing in early 2024. Works comprised the removal of existing wrought iron balustrades, handrails and nosings and replacing with solid oak handrail, spindles, nosings and baserails. The existing newel posts and staircase strings were retained and clad in oak veneered boarding. The soffit of the top flight of stairs was similarly clad. Finally, new oak veneered treads and risers were installed to the existing staircase. The overall result has completely transformed the hallway and double height reception area and we’re exceptionally pleased with the end result. Harry was very professional and tidy throughout the project. His communication skills and time keeping were exemplary. His workmanship was of the highest quality. Nothing was too much problem. Highly recommended!

They built and fitted new wardrobes, custom-made 2 alcove bookcases and several shelving units, repaired the staircase and built custom-made under-stairs storage. Moreover, their painter repaired internal walls and painted the entire house, he did an amazing job as well. I'm so glad we went for this company - they are perfectionists and their work is done to a very high standard. What I really appreciate is that they go above and beyond and communicate with you throughout the process: They send photos with updates, they ask questions to make sure they do the job exactly how you want it to be done, and they are thinking outside the box when something gets tricky. On top of that, they are reasonably priced and will suggest the most affordable option for you whenever possible. The moment you employ them they are on the ball, no chasing from our side ever. They are also super lovely to deal with, even our neighbours mentioned that everyone was very polite and quiet. I wouldn't hire anyone else for carpentry or decorating work. Marcio and his dad did an extraordinary job at our property, building and fitting two big wardrobes to perfection! Marcio and his father-in-law did a fantastic job putting in some wardrobes in two rooms and flexible hanging/shelves in my converted attic walk-in wardrobe. The finished products look lovely and they built most of it off-site, so only entailed 3.5 days of disruption at home. They are nice guys and tidy workers, leaving the place immaculate each evening. S J Cole built a kitchen extension and garden patio for us a few years ago. In any building project there are unforeseen issues and Steve gave great advice to help us achieve what we wanted. Great service and friendly to deal with. I’ve just tried to hire him again for another project but the good reputation must be getting around as he’s booked up for the foreseeable future! We had an oak framed double car port erected on our land -Steve did an amazing job doing the concrete base , the tiled roof , a new gravel driveway and footpath all looks amazing . Steve always keeps you informed as to what is happening and our job was finished in good time and without any issues .I would recommend Steve to all he is an outstanding builder ,very approachable and his quote was very competitive.
