Lovely little coffee shop and deli. Brilliant service and lovely staff. The coffee and cake were fab. We actually got some takeout food for later on as we had an early flight the next day. It was so tasty, homemade chilli was delicious.

Really lovely little cafe. A reasonable price although not super cheap but in return you get a great breakfast where you can tell the ingredients are locally sourced as full of flavour. Will come back 🔙

Most delicious and generously-filled Coronation Chicken sandwich I think I've ever had! Always a lovely place to stop by, with caring, friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. Feels like being welcomed into someone's home and warmly looked after from the moment you arrive ☺️⭐

I visited for takeaway recently, and I noticed the waiter's initial reaction when I walked in wearing a hoodie and slippers. It seemed like there might have been a concern about allowing me to dine in but that wasn't my plan anyways. However, I really enjoy the food there; it's always a solid 10/10 whenever I visit. Perhaps creating a more welcoming atmosphere for all customers, regardless of attire, could enhance the overall experience.

Had a lovely Father’s Day meal here back in June and was really blown away with both the service and the food. Called in again while passing and had the ploughman’s and I have to say it’s by far the best I’ve had. Absolutely outstanding value for money in a lovely atmosphere with great service. Would highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Fox Revived. The service (from about 5 different waiting staff) was great, the food was tasty and well presented without being over the top expensive. The local bitters were also tasty. We will come back :)

If you want the best Fish and Chips around then you have found the right place. Very well cooked, great taste, and ample portions. Really Really Good.

Spontaneous trip for my nans 80th - food was 10/10 we loved all of it! The staff were so amazing and went above and beyond for us so the birthday girl felt special! Will definitely return!

Wow what a find, staying at a nearby hotel before our flight in the morning. Initial thoughts was it was an empty village pub …. Ordered. Drinks from a lovely friendly bar man, asked for a menu and delighted to find a lot of the menu was Indian❤️ we ordered starters which were delightful, and I had a superb Lamb Vindaloo my husband a tandori chicken cooked in the tandoor it was superb. The service was great ordered drinks at the bar but placed our food order from the table. Plentiful car parking at the back of the pub in private car park and an hour later the pub is nicely filling up so not the empty village pub I first thought it was….. will definitley come back next time we fly from Gatwick…. A gem of a find

Having moved several hours away from the area nearly 15 years ago, I remember when this was an undesirable, run down Hungry Horse pub. We have recently returned twice when visiting family who are still local to the area and both times we have been delighted not only with the huge improvements made to the pub/restaurant, but also with the excellent, attentive and welcoming service and quite simply the best Indian food we have ever had. Absolutely mindblowingly delicious. It is clearly prepared with passion and care, and it is served with pride. There is a very varied, mouthwatering menu of all sorts of Indian food from the usual favourites through to more unusual Indian food. There is also a smaller selection of typical pub food on the menu. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options available. Very highly recommended if you love Indian cuisine. We will certainly return when next in the area and would even make a special trip just to come here. Also - the restaurant and bathrooms are immaculately clean. Lots of parking available at the back of the building or on the roads outside. Dog friendly. Easy to find on the main road through the village. Possibly a little quiet at off peak times, but for us that isn't an issue.

It’s all about good food! This was a first time visit for us and we both had the roast rump of lamb with seasonal veg and cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pud. Next to my own cooking which is pretty damn good this meal ticked all the right boxes and the roast potatoes were amazing. I highly recommend you visit ***** I neglected to mention the young lad who welcomed us and served our food. He was amusing, helpful and faultless in his serving of our orders. He wasn’t local but his knowledge of local area was good. I’m sorry I didn’t ask his name . Thank you again for making our visit so enjoyable 👍

This is many years overdue but had vowed to do it. Finally sorting through buried admin and found the business card. Stayed here a few years back now and it was lovely with a great location. Wished we weren't there for just an overnight pre flight. Must return and explore properly. The room was lovely. Cosy and spacious. And different to your bog standard square boxes of the chain hotels. Staff super friendly and helpful. Had found the car park use excellent and upon return in the dark evening, my car was flat. The very awesome manager at the time grabbed his jump leads and helped start me up again. Forever grateful for his help. Must come visit again.

Stayed here the night before an early flight from Gatwick, it was brilliant. It's a stunning building and been updated really well. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern with the period features. The check in staff were super polite and friendly, ordering us a taxi for the morning. The bar prices aren't a little pricey but it is to be expected because of the location. We ate in the restaurant which I recommend to book when you check in as it gets busy. The waiting staff were again really friendly and helpful. The food was really good and would definitely recommend to eat there. You park your car yourself and take keys with you which is nice...just be mindful where you park...the car was covered in leaves but they soon blew off when we got going !!

Pre flight stay and car parking for one night but would not rule out returning to spend a few days there. Superb setting and period features. Got to say that we felt the decor of the bar, although stylish was a little left field from the overall feel of the place. Great service though. Clean rooms with large towels and decent shower. Double bed was a little uncomfortable, but depends what you’re used to.

Another great stay here, perfect starting point for our holiday. By far the best and cheapest place to stay before and then leave your car whilst on holiday flying from Gatwick. Leave your car parked in the hotel grounds, then take a taxi (which is arranged by the hotel) for £19.50.

We asked our bus driver and he recommended this place. So glad he did! It’s a charming quaint cottage looking restaurant/pub. It has the perfect seating inside and a massive outside seating. Our server, Gok was wonderful. He told us about the history of the place (it’s 800 years old)! He was so entertaining explaining all the stories. There is apparently an undiscovered tunnel that goes from the restaurant to the old church and cemetery next door. This place looks like it’s out of a novel. The food was great and the pudding dessert is a must (we had 3). Everyone in my family was happy and it added to the charm of visiting the UK. Ask for Gok he’s been there 8 years and he will make your experience even better with his knowledge of the place.

Just stopped for a night in Horley before continue our journey to NY and found this place. Looks like a typical english pub/restaurant form a movie, great atmosphere, delicious food and 10/10 sercive. Highly recommended.

The cocktails were quite tasty while the dish that I had-pollo parmigiano was delicious - the starter was enough for 2 people. The service was quite quick, and the atmosphere was great , it was an amazing energy quiet and calm.

The Black Horse in Horley sits comfortably in the “pub with ambitions” category, a local trying to play on a slightly grander stage. It’s a fine aspiration, but aspirations alone don’t guarantee results, and here, it’s a mixed bag. Let’s start with the Mediterranean salad, priced at an eyebrow-raising £13.95. At that price, you’d expect a dish that sings of sun-dappled coastal markets and fresh sea air. Instead, what arrives is a bowl of chopped lettuce, some decent-enough olives, the odd sun-dried tomato, croutons, and a scattering of feta. The ingredients are undeniably fresh, but it’s a salad without a story, a dish that lacks the drama or complexity of something worthy of its price tag. Where’s the grilled aubergine or courgette? The roasted red peppers or artichoke hearts? It’s as if someone took the idea of the Mediterranean, stripped it of its romance, and replaced it with sweetness, a dressing so sugary it should come with a dental warning. The onion bhaji was a far better effort. Crisp, golden, and warmly spiced, it managed to deliver a little joy. That said, the garnish of wilted spinach and a stray tip of lettuce felt like an afterthought, and the drizzle of reduced balsamic was a nod to culinary trends that died with flip phones. But still, it was good enough to make you forgive these minor missteps. Then there was the curry, which was genuinely excellent. Deep, rich, and perfectly spiced, it showed a level of care and understanding that suggests someone in that kitchen knows what they’re doing. The rice, fluffy and fragrant, was the perfect companion. It’s the kind of dish that makes you wonder why the rest of the menu doesn’t quite rise to meet it. The staff, at least, are a credit to the place: friendly, efficient, and genuinely pleasant. They help lift the experience and make you want to root for the Black Horse. And to be fair, not everything on the menu carries the same high price tag as the salad. Most items are reasonably priced, leaning towards the upper end of pub dining but not outrageously so. The Black Horse has the bones of something great. The setting is welcoming, the service is excellent, and some of the dishes genuinely shine. But if it wants to justify its higher price points, it needs to refine its offering. Right now, it feels like a pub that’s reaching for greatness but hasn’t quite figured out how to get there.
