“Have been recommended this by 3 separate people and decided the 30 min drive was worth finding out what the fuss was about. Decoration = beautifully rustic and charming Atmosphere = busy and bustling but still nice and friendly Service = friendly and efficient (didn't have to wait long) Food = AMAZING. Yakitori kebabs were unreal. Pizza was the best my daughter has EVER had. Chicken lollipops were tasty and made of proper pieces of chicken. Portions were great - couldn't have starters of desserts. Cost was well worth it for the quality of the food. Will definitely be coming back.”

“Lovely little cafe/takeaway in this gorgeous village! Being used by locals - always a good sign. Small and quirky! Charmingly friendly chap doing the 'hosting'! I'm not one for going into cafes on my own but I would suggest this is a place that people on their own would feel comfortable. I feel he would happily chat the day away with anyone ☺️. Small shop at the front with seating behind. Lovely, quirky little conservatory on the back. Nice little garden, up some steps, with a chicken or two wandering round. I've knocked one star off as there wasn't any cake I could eat today ( my fault, not yours - allergies and a good dose of radiotherapy😕) so can't really judge them. I'll be happy to up it to 5 stars if, next time we come, I can eat something.👍🏻 5 star food hygiene score. Good, no nonsense menu. Very reasonably priced. Great spot to pick if either out rambling that way or on a scenic drive. Gorgeous village. Definitely worth a visit👍🏻”

“Had a thoroughly good evening here , some very good service and food was impressive. Had the dirty onion burger, and it was gorgeous, really high quality meat cooked with the slightest blush of pink, sauces and onions all complemented and enhanced the burger. Chips were proper chips one of the best burgers I've had in a long time.”

“We arrived at 3pm on a Sunday, hungry, and tired from running in the Peak District. We were pleased to find a couple free tables, one indoors. We got the big smithy’s breakfast for a late lunch. The food was hot, and all cooked really well. The bacon, black pudding and oatcake were especially good - crispy, salty and rich! From the Big portions, friendly and quick service this meal was just the restorative and hearty food we needed.”

“This place is a little gem. Booked short notice for an evening meal (20:45) and they were able to fit us in. The staff were very friendly and clearly appreciated regulars as well as new guests, the venue is clean, tidy and well decorated. The menu had some great dishes with unique twists (I had the Pizza/chicken burger) such as the haggis and chips (cheese too). Desserts were outstanding also. Highly recommended.”

Oakhill Hotel

“I had the pleasure of staying in the oaks cottage for a weekend getaway in the beautiful rolling hills of Cromford. It was spotlessly clean and had the comfiest bed, a rainfall shower and was very tastefully furnished. After a walk at Black Rock (a must-visit!), kicking our boots off and relaxing in the warm cottage with a cup of tea in the lounge area was a great wind-down before an evening out. The kitchen invites you to cook up a storm, however we opted instead to take a stroll into the friendly town for dinner and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant the following morning. I had the English breakfast with fresh coffee and cold juice which was a perfect start to the day. The staff were so helpful and friendly and it was clear they wanted us to enjoy our stay and were happy to be there themselves. Overall this hotel was the perfect base for our Peak District getaway!”
