Visited Fischer's at Baslow Hall for an early valentine's dinner with my partner. Neil and the serving staff were great and very friendly. The service never felt rushed and we had a drink in the bar area before being shown to our table. My partner and I have eaten at a fair few fine dining/Michelin restaurants over the years but this was the first time we've booked the Kitchen Bench experience. Ant and his kitchen staff were all very professional and relaxed and were happy to chat, have a laugh and answer any questions we had. They explained the dishes and the processes behind them and it was interesting to see the dishes being assembled and 'coming to live' on the pass. We enjoyed a 9 course tasting menu with some of the highlights being the fish course (especially the Bouillabaisse which it was served with), the Mushroom Pithivier and Egg Custard Tart! We were both very pleased with the whole experience and would thoroughly recommend it. Thanks for a great evening!

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent weekend stay, for our special occasion. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly, attentive and helpful. Our luxurious room was beautifully decorated and the bed very comfortable. All of our meals were delicious, and we were very impressed with the extensive wine list. Our whole experience was delightful, no doubt due to the great attention to detail that everyone has here. The fabulous grounds and gardens add to the serenity of this beautiful place. We are so glad that we chose Fischers and hope to return..... This is a truly special place ❤️

Didn’t stay but ate for my birthday lunch. Made to feel very welcome and loved every minute. Great service from Otto. Thanks so much to the team for making me feel special! The food was sublime and the star of the show was the cod main course with saffron sauce. Otto added he brought the saffron from Morocco himself which was a lovely touch. We have eaten here a few times now and class it as a treat for a special occasion. We ate here recently and the food was very good as usual. However, I was shocked at the increase in price. The website which I have just checked again advertises 2 courses from £35 but this is no longer the case. It's more like £50 as you now pay for separate courses. So the website needs to be updated asap. We also used to get appetizers served to us before we went into the dining room and also between courses but sadly not any more. Again, really enjoyed what we had but only fo a special occasion.

What a fantastic meal in this gorgeous pub. The staff were SO friendly without being overbearing and the whole vibe super authentic and relaxed. The food was SENSATIONAL, we could not have asked for a better meal. The only disappointment is that we haven’t come across it sooner, we will be back!

Went here for a meal with 11 other people. We had preordered food and had great service from start to finish. Very professional booking system and great to be able to pay separately. Food was excellent, very tasty and very filling, it all had that home made feeling. We all enjoyed the food and great service. Lovely pint of Jaipur. Will definitely look to return.

A lovely pub to stop after a walk in the peaks. The food was lovely and the staff were nice. We spent just over 60 quid for 2 mains, deserts, coffee and beers. We had the sausage and mash which was lovely and the veggie Sunday roast. We would definitely recommend both again. For dessert the poached pear was our favourite and the lemon tart came in a close second. The only minor comment is the beer came with a huge head but no big deal! I would definitely come back again. It's also dog friendly.

Visited on a Thursday lunchtime for our anniversary. We’ve been to 3 Michelin starred restaurants in the last year, one with 2 stars and this was considerably better than any of them. (FYI I’m talking about Belcanto in Lisbon, The Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds and Behind in London.) The food was delicious, perfectly cooked and the flavours worked so well together. Service was proactive and very friendly and genuine but not over the top. A relaxed, non pretentious place that we will definitely be returning to. Food was £188 for 2, including 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine, as well as tip.

Fantastic lunch for four. Lovely surroundings, really excellent unhurried, helpful and friendly service and really really great food (we had the lunchtime tasting menu - every course was a hit). Best meal we've had in a long time and we would definitely come back.

We went to Lovage last night and I can honestly say it was one of the best restaurant experiences that I have had for a long time. It was beautifully served, generous portions, every mouthful was absolutely delicious. I had the duck and it was exceptional. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. I wish it was in Kent - I would be a regular visitor!

What a fantastic restaurant! We visited as a treat as we were visiting Bakewell and we’re glad we came. The staff are wonderful and incredibly welcoming. The food was incredible. We had the 7-course tasting menu and each course was unique with such attention to detail. Although it is expensive, it’s reasonable for such a delicious tasting menu which stands up against other restaurants that are twice the price. We can’t wait to come back again soon.

Visited today for Christmas lunch with family from around the area. Been a number of times before so we knew the pub and what to expect but today the food was great, the service was friendly and efficient. The dogs were also welcomed by everyone. Can’t wait to come again and would recommend to everyone.

Friendly welcome. It is a small and compact pub and, given it's dog friendly, quite a tight squeeze depending on the size of your dog. We waited at the bar to be seated and then realised a waitress had been stood next to us the whole time. Menu was labelled for gluten free. Burger bun was good for gluten free, but portions were small considering the price. We had to go to the bar twice to order drinks, so whilst friendly the service wasn't overly attentive. It was a nice enough country pub in a lovely village with good enough food, but we've definitely been in better.

Highly recommend to visit this pub if you are around! This building is 1787 years old! The atmosphere beside is so cool! We haven’t booked a table but lady kindly found one for us. Food was very nice! There is at the bar good choose if local beer (I had blue Christmas one). Inside the pub you can find a lot of cool stuff, pictures, maps where you can put the pin on the place where are you from. Dog friendly. Again, highly recommend it

Really lovely atmosphere and welcome at this village pub. We dropped in for lunch as we were walking in the area. The service was excellent and food delicious. I had the Thai veg curry which was beautiful and the other two people had beefburgers. It was a 5 out of 5 for me and those I was with enjoyed their excellent burgers.

We stopped by for an impromptu lunch, we chose a selection of starters and dessert. We were extremely happy we did. The food was delicious, each plate was simply delicious and exciting, so much so I am thinking of travelling back to stay overnight just so we can eat again. The hosts were very professional, a beautiful experience all round. Thank you.

We had a wonderful evening at the Blind Bull last night! Wonderful service, attentive and very friendly. The food is simply delicious, I was even made a special birthday cocktail by the bar man 🍸 As a local, we are so lucky to have such a fantastic dining option which maintains high end food with a relaxed and comfortable environment. Absolutely fantastic weekend staying at The Blind Bull. The room was perfect in every way, lots of little thoughtful touches, comfy bed & gorgeous bathroom! The enclosed patio area was perfect for our little dog to explore. The pub was everything we had hoped for, cosy, charming, friendly staff and good quality drinks. The food in the evening was sensational & we thoroughly enjoyed every single part of it. Oh and I don’t know what you do to the mushrooms on the breakfast but they were so delicious! We will 100% be back here for our next child free break away, it was perfect. Thankyou

Amazing location. In the middle of nowhere. Food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Prices were very reasonable. would highly recommend. We will be definitely visiting again. Lots for the kids to do too while you’re eating.

We booked lunch for a family group and after a blustery walk, it was warm and inviting. The staff are friendly and helpful, quick to take our orders and not rushing after we ate. The food orders all arrived at the same time. Each is well presented and there were many comments of great, delicious and wow as we ate. The place is very clean, toilets kept spotless (important for some of our group) Obviously a popular spot to eat and drink. We will visit again in the summer. Many thanks to the kitchen staff, bar staff and servers for making our lunch a lovely experience.

The hotel was top. Breakfast brilliant, the whole package is/was thoroughly designed for all clients,, disabled most importantly. Rooms sorted for disabled clients, including all facilities downstairs, pub, restaurant. Plenty of outside stuff going on for little/BIG kids. We'll worth a visit even if not staying. Food worth the visit

Perfect stay here this weekend! The location was perfect, food & service was faultless and the room was very comfortable. My favourite touch was the many critters outside. I could’ve spent my entire stay hanging out with the goats, rabbits and geese. We will be back! Thanks again, Katie & Tom 🪿🐇🐓🐐

Went with my sister and brother-in-law to a Burns night special, for dinner. We all thought the food we had was outstanding (and my sister and brother-in-law are big foodies), and reasonably priced, especially for such quality cooking. Would highly recommend the food, and if my sisters pie was anything to go by, I've got to go back soon for pie night

Fantastic little find - staying on a local campsite, another pub on our route wasn’t dog friendly so continued onto here. Superb welcome, dog treats on the bar, beer is served well and a steak is on order. Will definitely return (probably tomorrow) A real nice pub - recommended

Stayed here and dined here this weekend. Rooms were lovely but the main thing for me and my partner was how incredible the food was. My dietary requirements were taken into account with no hassle at all - the kitchen staff made me a chicken breast in a completely different sauce than what was on the menu, which was stunning! We both agreed it was one of the most beautiful meals we've ever had. Staff were great, lovely cosy vibes and just what we wanted. Thankyou so much for a lovely experience!

We were there for the Sunday roast. We booked ahead, although there was plenty of space. The bar staff were lovely and welcoming. Some local beers on tap but a limited selection of gin. We had to find our own menus as the restaurant staff were slow. We had roast beef and pork. Both were good hearty meals with plenty of gravy and plenty of veg. Scoring a 4 as it lacked the edge over other pubs we have tried in the area. Considering the food was the same price as other pubs, it was very much home cooked (as I would at my home) food here. Not bad. It filled a hungry belly. But home cooked.

Honestly stay here if you want a lovely little stay in hope! Great value for money and the breakfast is outstanding! They really will go out their way to accommodate you!! Have stayed here 5 times now!! And countless visits for food and drink!

What a gorgeous, gorgeous pub. So cosy with a nice fire burning. The landlord was so lovely and welcoming. Tables were booked until 5pm for Sunday lunch so we didn't get to sample the food....well have to go back 🙃

Excellent venue for a group residential experience. Friendly welcoming staff, lovely accommodation, lots of different spaces, interesting artwork. Clean, modern rooms. Great views and surrounding countryside.

Great place that is warm, welcoming and friendly and good accommodation at very good value for money It does organised events such as walking weekends and is also available for private parties or even for go as you please I have been to the centre over the years for various events and each time it is a great time and a unique event and the food is great Good value for money and the views are fantastic

I had the pleasure of going there with my uni, for a writing retreat. Though they have basic dorms (as it is mainly used for hikers) the common rooms were super inviting, wonderfully charming and truthfully comfy. They have a little outside park with swing sets, which me and the uni group I was with had a lot of fun on 😆. The staff looked after us and were so helpful. The cooks and servers were also amazing, the food was surprisingly delicious and I could tell so much effort was placed into making sure of that. Cleanliness was to standard, any issues we had were easily informed and fixed and the meals were not stingy portions, allowing you to go back for secondsif you've run up an appetite walking around the beautiful Great Hucklow. The views are wonder, rolling fields and fresh countryside air are the perfect refresher, and I would whole heartedly recommend anyone to go for some relaxation and I shall be booking a visit for myself, my partner and my family. Bookings are either a solo hire, (where you book pretty much the whole 'bookable' area, or you can share hire, where you can book rooms but the common rooms are shared with you and other visitors. Both have food package options. In conclusion, what a lovely place and use of the nightingale centre. If you go, I hope you have a wonderful stay!

Popped in here for lunch, party of four plus two dogs. Very friendly staff, freshly cooked food and delicious desert. They had a vegetarian menu and doggy menu which were nice touches. I had the lentil and cauliflower pie from the specials board which was lovely. Will definitely recommend paying them a visit.

This is the first pub I have visited that has a parking space designated for a tractor! Historic old pub situated on a busy junction for various places of interest in the Peak District. I have visited several times over the years and today I enjoyed the vegan chicken roast dinner. The meat eaters chose the lamb roast dinners and commented that the meat portions were generous - all roast dinners came with a good variety of vegetables. My husband went for the cod loin with gnocchi and children both opted for the pizza, chips and beans from the kids menu. We were all too full for pudding. Friendly and attentive service.

We arrived last night close to the end of food service, after a very long day and mid travel back home. The staff were still super friendly and welcoming, found us a table and service was fantastic. The food came out fresh, hot, and very tasty. All round a great experience.

Cosy place, the fireplace will make you feel like at home, traditional looking pub withe great food and nice drinks selection. Plenty of parking available and lovely staff
