We arrived last night close to the end of food service, after a very long day and mid travel back home. The staff were still super friendly and welcoming, found us a table and service was fantastic. The food came out fresh, hot, and very tasty. All round a great experience.

This is the first pub I have visited that has a parking space designated for a tractor! Historic old pub situated on a busy junction for various places of interest in the Peak District. I have visited several times over the years and today I enjoyed the vegan chicken roast dinner. The meat eaters chose the lamb roast dinners and commented that the meat portions were generous - all roast dinners came with a good variety of vegetables. My husband went for the cod loin with gnocchi and children both opted for the pizza, chips and beans from the kids menu. We were all too full for pudding. Friendly and attentive service.

Came to the peaks for a week away and found the anchor inn nearby. Food was great and they had a separate vegan/veggie menu which is fantastic. We ended up going for a vegan homity pie and a cheesecake which we both really enjoyed. Really fast service, nice atmosphere and good location!

Cosy place, the fireplace will make you feel like at home, traditional looking pub withe great food and nice drinks selection. Plenty of parking available and lovely staff

Fantastic little find - staying on a local campsite, another pub on our route wasn’t dog friendly so continued onto here. Superb welcome, dog treats on the bar, beer is served well and a steak is on order. Will definitely return (probably tomorrow) A real nice pub - recommended

Everything about our little stop over here was perfect. From the moment we walked in we felt so welcome. The food was wonderful. The service was fantastic and so so friendly. Thank you so much for looking after us. Oh and thanks to Martin for demonstrating that wonderful people exist x

Stayed here and dined here this weekend. Rooms were lovely but the main thing for me and my partner was how incredible the food was. My dietary requirements were taken into account with no hassle at all - the kitchen staff made me a chicken breast in a completely different sauce than what was on the menu, which was stunning! We both agreed it was one of the most beautiful meals we've ever had. Staff were great, lovely cosy vibes and just what we wanted. Thankyou so much for a lovely experience!

Went with my sister and brother-in-law to a Burns night special, for dinner. We all thought the food we had was outstanding (and my sister and brother-in-law are big foodies), and reasonably priced, especially for such quality cooking. Would highly recommend the food, and if my sisters pie was anything to go by, I've got to go back soon for pie night

Excellent venue for a group residential experience. Friendly welcoming staff, lovely accommodation, lots of different spaces, interesting artwork. Clean, modern rooms. Great views and surrounding countryside.

Great place that is warm, welcoming and friendly and good accommodation at very good value for money It does organised events such as walking weekends and is also available for private parties or even for go as you please I have been to the centre over the years for various events and each time it is a great time and a unique event and the food is great Good value for money and the views are fantastic

I had the pleasure of going there with my uni, for a writing retreat. Though they have basic dorms (as it is mainly used for hikers) the common rooms were super inviting, wonderfully charming and truthfully comfy. They have a little outside park with swing sets, which me and the uni group I was with had a lot of fun on 😆. The staff looked after us and were so helpful. The cooks and servers were also amazing, the food was surprisingly delicious and I could tell so much effort was placed into making sure of that. Cleanliness was to standard, any issues we had were easily informed and fixed and the meals were not stingy portions, allowing you to go back for secondsif you've run up an appetite walking around the beautiful Great Hucklow. The views are wonder, rolling fields and fresh countryside air are the perfect refresher, and I would whole heartedly recommend anyone to go for some relaxation and I shall be booking a visit for myself, my partner and my family. Bookings are either a solo hire, (where you book pretty much the whole 'bookable' area, or you can share hire, where you can book rooms but the common rooms are shared with you and other visitors. Both have food package options. In conclusion, what a lovely place and use of the nightingale centre. If you go, I hope you have a wonderful stay!

Amazing location. In the middle of nowhere. Food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Prices were very reasonable. would highly recommend. We will be definitely visiting again. Lots for the kids to do too while you’re eating.

Well this has really been a perfect stay from start to finish. The location is so pretty with amazing walks on your doorstep. The pub and accommodation is superb. We stayed in the shepherd hut 2. Food was unbelievable. Really well cooked and lovely produce. The staff are what make this 5 stars all round for me. They really made us feel so welcome and we're so lovely and very funny. We laughed so much on this little trip. Everyone is so friendly apart from the geese. They 100% had it in for us. We will definitely be returning. I think this will become an annual trip. Thanks so much for making our stay so special 💗

The hotel was top. Breakfast brilliant, the whole package is/was thoroughly designed for all clients,, disabled most importantly. Rooms sorted for disabled clients, including all facilities downstairs, pub, restaurant. Plenty of outside stuff going on for little/BIG kids. We'll worth a visit even if not staying. Food worth the visit

We booked lunch for a family group and after a blustery walk, it was warm and inviting. The staff are friendly and helpful, quick to take our orders and not rushing after we ate. The food orders all arrived at the same time. Each is well presented and there were many comments of great, delicious and wow as we ate. The place is very clean, toilets kept spotless (important for some of our group) Obviously a popular spot to eat and drink. We will visit again in the summer. Many thanks to the kitchen staff, bar staff and servers for making our lunch a lovely experience.

Had a lovely stay at the quaint Queen Anne Inn. Breakfast was lovely and cozy next to their fireplace, and the location was ideal to explore the Peak District. Definitely will stay again if we're in the area!

This is a great little pub. Visited here Saturday lunch time with walking pals. Two good ales on draught and we were spoilt for choice with the standard pub menu and excellent specials board. The food was excellent and very good value. Five hungry blokes left happy and contented.

Lovely place, location was nice and peaceful and the staff were so helpful. Glynn was exceptional and made us so welcome . Food was excellent and great traditional breakfast . Would stay there again .

Well after walking up from the trail we thought we deserved a good meal & pint well we got it here. We both had the roast beef Sunday lunch & a pint of the local ale. Best tasting beef I've had in a long time, in fact it was all good, roast spuds, veg & extra gravy, great. The staff were friendly, eager to help, gave our dog some biscuits, that's how to run a business. Will defo return & already reccomended to our friends.

We stopped off on a whim as Monsal Head is so beautiful at sunset. We decided to grab a quick bite. Kate served us and was so hospitable and friendly. We ordered a pint and a coke & 3 starters which was just right. The white bait with tartar sauce was particularly tasty. We don't live too far but would happily come out of our way again to try more food and enjoy the atmosphere! Most importantly- DOG FRIENDLY! Loved it!

My experience at this pub was AMAZING!! I ordered a pint of beer and sausage and mash, which was so good, freshly cooked local pork sausages (honestly the best sausages I’ve ever had) with nice smooth mash and proper gravy. The red cabbage was also surprisingly tasty (I don’t care for side veggies usually but loved it), cooked with cranberries and the sweetness of it was very nice accent for the dish. It was £13.50 and definitely worth every penny. The food was freshly made, piping hot and hearty, such a wholesome meal, which was absolutely on point when we were tired and cold from all the walking in autumn. The staff were very friendly and nice as well, very welcoming. Also, the toilet was very clean and the pub seemed to be well taken care of. We sat outside for the view, though they told us we were welcome to sit inside with our dogs too. Very dog friendly. 10/10 I cannot rate this pub highly enough, you must stop by when you’re around the area!

Absolute gem of a place, called in because everywhere in the centre of Hathersage was full, so glad it was now! Food was fantastic, lovely staff, roaring log fire, dogs welcome. Will definitely be going back. Plenty of outdoor seating as well so looking forward to returning in the summer.

Lovely location with parking, dog friendly - super friendly staff! We stopped by with the dogs after a walk for a roast, it was absolutely delicious, didn't scrimp on the trimmings at all. Great selection of beers, a fire to warm up by and lovely food, what more could you ask for?

Really lovely pub with a real open fire, lovely after a snowy walk! Dog friendly too, great service and a really tasty roast. We had the beef and it was delicious. Definitely recommend.

Came for some pub grub on New Years Day, absolutely lovely! We will deffo be coming back. Thanks to the friendly bar staff who welcomed us & served us. We also had very friendly service from Sandra, who made us feel very comfortable. Food was gorgeous and perfect home cooked taste.

I had family come over from America for a long weekend and we choose to stay at the ye old nags head the place was everything my family wanted in a place to stay. The food was spot on the staff were fantastic and the selection of ales were good I would truly recommend the place to stay. The only one negative for me was the twin room the beds were not full size single beds and quilt cover wasn't in my opinion was not big enough and the pillows were shall we say flat I would say it could be an easy fix for little money new proper size single beds and bigger bedding and good quality pillows. But other then that issue I would return without a doubt and would recommend to people has a great base to stay and enjoy great hospitality from the staff and quality food and drink.

Celebrated my birthday here on nye. We were a party of 7 ordering separately but the staff ensured the meals came out together. We were served quickly and the meals were tasty. The pub soon filled up with those coming to see in the new year but we were still able to get drinks and keep our table.

This is a spacious and well equipped venue. The only observation is.. for the numbers catered for there should be a commercial dishwasher and large double sink. Camping area is pretty but very slopey and damp even in summer. Guests should not be expected to clean thoroughly if they have paid the cleaning fee. Recycling should be encouraged.

What a fabulous place. We stayed for a weekend away with friends and we loved it. Comfortable, well equipped and an amazing location. So much to do and so beautiful. It was easy to get to and the efficient local bus service was an unexpected bonus! The owner was really helpful and welcoming and we will be back. Thank you

Great base venue for an outdoor weekend. We stayed in a large group (22 adults) and the lounge, kitchen and dining facilities were great for the evenings cooking, eating and entertainment. Was nice and warm with the fire blazing (it was the middle of February with snow on the ground outside). Would recommend to any large group wanting to experience the Peak District, which has absolutely loads on offer for activities and outdoor adventures.
