We came here for the first time as we wanted a nice spot for breakfast, the service was brilliant, staff were very friendly, the food was so delicious and well presented! They also showed us around downstairs where they have a bar and cozy yet still modern lounging area. Would definitely recommend, we will be coming back here!

Fantastic breakfast/ brunch. Extremely accommodating of food allergies. As standard the sausages are gluten free and the most fantastic gluten free bread. Portion sizes are quite unbelievable and brilliant value. Lovely coffee with the added touch of a mini mince pie on the run up to Christmas. Photo of the full English breakfast which my husband didn’t quite manage to complete!

Quirky place. You can easily get lost finding your way back from the toilets. Felt a bit awkward because we didn't have a reservation midweek, but we had a table after 5 minutes wait. The food was excellent. The prawn crackers and dip starter was massive. The Thai green curry and sticky rice was very nice, as was the stir fry chicken with ginger etc. Service was good. Recommended.

We went for an "early doors" meal for my birthday on a Saturday in August. It was our first visit...and certainly won't be our last. Excellent friendly service, lovely food and a good location made for a nice early evening...and a nice touch too of the staff to present me with a little cake with a candle in it. Probably the best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a while! We hadn’t booked and stopped by on the off chance as the pub’s had some great reviews. The pub was really busy and the owner Sian sorted out a table for us after a short wait. The atmosphere was great as was the food and service. We will definitely be back soon!

Family Sunday roast, there is a choice of 2 or 3 courses, all of the food was lovely, the staff were excellent and friendly. The restaurant is clean and stylish, a very nice dining experience. Dogs are allowed🐾

Our new favourite go to - such a beautiful pub/restaurant and always has a warm welcoming atmosphere. The food and service is always amazing. Every meal we've had has been fantastic and we go regularly for a cosy drink with our puppy. Really recommend!

I love heritage interior pubs , and this featured in my Camra pub. I also love real ale. I've been planning to visit for some time, even though it's three trains and a walk or bus. Fabulous interior, welcoming staff, good ale selection, plenty of outside areas , covered and uncovered and nice pub food. The cheese platter was 👍. It's also worth making it part of a mini pub crawl by finding the Spotted Cow and Dead Poets.

A fantastic little pub that is a true classic, great atmosphere and truly unique. They also offer a great selection of bar nibbles, with some pork pies which all looked delicious...

This is my second visit while on holiday from Canada, and this place has quickly become a favorite. The pub is cozy and inviting, with a huge patio that's perfect for a beautiful day. The food portions are generous and delicious, complemented by an amazing selection of beers. It's definitely a favorite holiday spot and a local haven. Plus, it's dog-friendly, so there's never a shortage of adorable dogs. The best pub in Derbyshire!!!

Not much to add that hasn't been already mentioned. What does set this pub apart is the very friendly service both by the staff and the management. The pub loves Halloween and Christmas fancy dress! Wonderfully decorated and great range of drinks. The cheeseboards are something else😋. Enjoy. M

I'd give this place 6 stars if I could! We aren't from the area, but the sun came out and we suddenly had a craving to sit outdoors somewhere in the sunshine with a cold beer and a charcuterie board. We found this place and thought we'd give it a try. This mountain of food, a large wine and a pint was under £30! Absolutely terrific value! The place itself is eclectically decorated, spacious and has two separate outdoor seating areas. Inside is lovely too, in case you aren't as lucky with the weather as we were. Definitely check it out if you are passing through.

Best pub in the area. Very friendly. Well furnished with a central log fire for winter and outdoor area for summer. Good selection of beers. Menu is good, simple, traditional, but nothing on it for vegans.

I loved this restaurant went with a friend welcomed to a lovely little table with a prompt and speedy service. Had a few cocktails that came stunningly dressed and appearances didnt disappoint on tasting. Starters and mains was exceptional had no room for dessert disappointingly. I highly reccomend this place and could not fault from entrès to main. I will be returning that is a definate.

A truly magnificent restaurant, the food was gorgeous, the staff very attentive. I haven't seen mussels & king prawns that big since my visit to America!!! I will definitely be back

Fantastic food and atmosphere for our wedding anniversary dinner. Nothing was too much trouble, my wife is gluten free and they were able to do her a gluten free base pizza. Definitely order the olives as well! Loved the fact that this was a family run restaurant and you can really see the effort put in especially into the food. Thank you for an authentic Italian food experience!

This is the second time we have eaten at this restaurant. We travel quite far and enjoy the food and atmosphere so much. Such lovely, friendly service and the food is so delicious. By far the best restaurant I have eaten in in years. Highly recommend and will be coming back.

It's taken us ages to actually get round to booking a table but decided to take our friend here for his birthday. We were really impressed with the food and the service. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and the chips and onion rings were amazing. The rest of the meals were great and it's a lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely. To top it off they even brought out a surprise dessert with a candle on for the birthday boy. Thanks for a great meal.

Gorgeous meal. Food was fresh, tasty. Staff and service excellent. On a rainy day. We were kept warm and safe undercover outside as lockdown restrictions are eased. This is now one of our new favourite places.

Great pub in Duffield. Real ale I can recommend the Bass is brilliant. Had a few meals here in the past and all good there. We tried a “bottomless lunch” which included starter, main and included 2 hours free bar. Staff nice and polite. Well recommended 👍

Service was fantastic, shout-out to Kieran being accommodating with some late arrivals, topping up drinks when needed and overall being friendly and personable with the group. Food I wouldn’t say was AS good but perhaps I’m expecting the same standard as when I last visited which was April 24. The main part of the dish such as steak was fab, but the chips and the greens were just okay, standard. This didn’t cause much detriment to our visit, we would just love to see more creative sides with more intense flavour at our next visit. To finish off, as I’ve already stated, the highlight of the night really was the service, checking in throughout and making us feel comfortable. Thanks!!

Best roast dinner, had the trio of chicken pork and beef and all stellar 👌 red wine gravy was reduced and made sure to mop it all up. Cauliflower cheese is a personal favourite and none was left

We recently had a large family Christmas meal at The Palfrey, and it was an excellent experience. The private room was beautifully arranged and provided a great atmosphere for our gathering. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The selection of craft beers was a real highlight, offering something for everyone. The food was very well prepared and full of flavour. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the mussels were fresh and enjoyable. Every dish was clearly made with care, and the presentation was spot on. Overall, it was a fantastic venue for our family celebration. We’d definitely recommend The Palfrey for anyone looking for good food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

A Moroccan Dream! Went to this little gem last night for my friends birthday and we couldn't be more impressed! The restaurant was warm and cosy, and the owner and waitress were welcoming and all around angels. They offered to bring a selection of food (after asking about allergies etc) and safe to say it was an impressive feast! It was some of the best food we've ever had! We had a full salad, falafel, baked brie, spinach flatbread, roasted chicken, and lamb tagine. The salad was crisp and dressed to perfection, with surprising bursts of mango and blueberry perfectly complimenting the salty feta and tangy dressing. The spinach flatbread was simple and comforting- definitely something I'll try and make at home now! And the falafel was so flavourful and moist- a true feat, and the baked brie really hit the spot. The chicken though, the chicken! It was so moist, marinated to perfection, and juicy and crisp- even the bed of salad it was on was dressed and tasty. The lamb tagine was decadent, lamb falling off the fork and the sauce truly tantalising- just the right amount of spice. There was nary a crumb left on the table after we feasted haha! The host should charge more honestly, because their skill is something rare to find. Thank you, Olive! We'll be back!

Recently, I dined at The Elephant and Peacock with friends. The starters were a delightful beginning, bursting with flavor and setting high expectations. Our main courses were equally tasty. The ambiance added to the experience with its inviting atmosphere, but the limited menu left us craving more options. Additionally, the service could have been more attentive, as we found ourselves waiting for long stretches without check-ins. All in all, a decent spot for Indian cuisine but with room for improvement in variety, service, and value.

Went to the first roast served at E&P. Was insane. The pork crackling was best ever tasted. They also do a gluten free roast (second picture) with GF Yorkshire pudding, gravy and stuffing. (My kid had the Old Delhi Paneer as she wasn’t into roasts). It was so good and we tried the wine recommended with the pork and that was also totes lush. Hung around and the live music started at 5, which was also fun. Usually come here for the curries but great to have the Sunday lunch option as well. Thanks to the new owners for saving this beautiful historical building too. Go get fat.

Stayed here overnight and had an evening meal. Great quality food and breakfast and good value too. Good room which was very comfortable although it was at the front so a bit of traffic noise but bot too bad. Nice vibe in the bar/restaurant. Would definitely recommend.

Fab place for our wedding anniversary celebrations. Lovely ambience, staff and great menu served perfectly. Really enjoyed my lamb starter but think 3 cutlets rather than 2 would be better value as my portion was tiny compared to the fish dish my partner enjoyed. The chicken curry was the best l have had in a restaurant for quite a while and the apple crumble was a nice different dessert for an Indian restaurant
