The Best Restaurants in Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire, United Kingdom (2025)

A great little find in this piece of Sicily brought into the High Peak district. The menu was a host of intriguing unknowns, which made choosing my meal very difficult. I eventually went for the Burrata e Coppa Siciliana, followed by the Margherite Ca Sasizza. (The imported fennel sausage, deliciuos) with long pasta. The home-made ice cream was also great. The service was first class and the staff were very attentive and chatty, making the atmosphere very friendly. Plus, the complimentary Limoncello just rounded the evening off very nicely. "Il cibo e molto bene"

Had a very enjoyable dining experience at A Tavola recently. Years ago I had been to their Reddish restaurant and so enjoyed it but this was first time at New Mills. Four of us were a little bemused by the extensive choices so we were very happy to be guided into sharing mode by our lovely waiter. Nothing was too much trouble - all the dishes were delicious, different and beautifully cooked and presented on equally beautiful crockery. My son and I were catching up with friends so a lot of chatting but the food stopped us in our tracks and there were no negatives. I want to return, and will do soon to try even more on the menu. Thank you to all staff on the night.

The best dining experience I have had. The food was out of this world. Staff were brilliant and extremely patient and answered any queries about the different dishes. Highly recommended. Thanks to you all for a brilliant evening.

Great small bar with so much choice of cask, craft & keg ales. Well stocked warm & welcoming. Watch for the hours of opening! After a longish walk spent a very pleasant late afternoon enjoying excellent pints of cask! Well worth finding & enjoying a great pub.

Great little place. Most pubs were either closed or closing in the town. Really nice locals who were happy to chat. Good beer and reasonably priced wine. Will go back.

I love The Whaley Nook .. Wendy and Phil aways make you feel welcome. Reasonable price and atmosphere is very friendly. Always have had a great night in The Nook .. definitely rate 5 star xx

Very friendly, great service with helpful staff. Quirky locals who are more than happy to share local knowledge. Extensive range of ever changing exceptional beer, mainly from local small breweries. Good music. Altogether, a great venue!😃

Perfect cozy pub to venture to after a day's walking. We normally go on a Saturday for the pizza and truffle fries. It can get very busy but normally you can grab a table upstairs.

Rocking little pub with sports on the telly and great beers and drink. Recommended!

Had food here. It was so good. Like really really good. I had the pizza and my partner had pie and mash. Portions were fair and the food was really good quality and fresh. No honestly it was, the pizza was amazing I really do recommend checking it out. They do vegan and gluten free options and the staff are really sweet and helpful too. The chips are so tasty. I am still thinking about them 50 minutes later. Dog friendly also.

Cracking pub, good beers, nice fires and great atmosphere

Stumbled into this pub just as it started to rain, the place was packed out, standing room only, out of the 4 pubs we've visted today in Whaley Bridge, this was definitely head and shoulders above the rest. Great atmosphere, considering how busy it was the service was fast too, and was also the cheapest of the 3 pubs. Would definitely call back when next back in this area.

Blazing hot wood burning fire.

Wonderful, unpretentious traditional British country pub, with some fun quirky touches in the decor that made us smile. Very dog-friendly and welcoming towards people who were clearly not locals. Great choice of craft beers (though more than one red wine would have been nice). No food, but that's fine as the pub was lovely just as it was.

Really lovely pub! We always enjoy going. Very cosy and family friendly. They do a fantastic gluten free fish and chips and offer a lot of other gluten free options. The roast beef sandwich (Sunday menu) is also available in gluten free and was lovely. Pretty much the best roast beef we’ve had in years and the gluten free bread was actually very nice. The normal bread is also fantastic, my husband really enjoyed his as well.

We stopped here for lunch on the way to Manchester. I had the creamy mushrooms starter which was delicious and my husband had the fish sandwich which was HUGE and he really enjoyed it.

The staff were very welcoming and able to accommodate 6 people on a Sunday, with very short notice. There is a good selection of drinks on offer and great coffee too. The food all came out together, piping hot and to a great standard. Puddings are exceptional and definitely worth squeezing in, especially the ginger sponge with stem ginger sauce and custard! Service excellent - we will be back....thanks

Phenomenal!!! So pleased we passed by this pub on the way home, the service was amazing and the food was delicious, home cooked and generous! Great veggie and vegan choices and sooo many gluten free options, most of the dishes looked like they could be done GF. Veggie burger and roast beef sandwiches both 10/10. We felt so comfortable and looked after, thank you Mike for being so passionate about the menu and chatting to us, as well as for my birthday dessert! We will definitely be back ☺️

Dan the owner is a special man. He really looked after me and went out of his way to make sure I would enjoy my time at the studio apartment and what the area had to offer. He developed this building from a garage. It’s spectacular. There’s too many features to list. Great food at the restaurant. Studio was super quiet, rare to find this level of quietness. Book and enjoy, you won’t regret it. Thank you Don’t touch the painting, it’s HOT! 😂

Clean and cozy room, with all the necessary present and of good quality. As they CLEARLY state on their website it’s possible to hear people laughing and talking in the pub, but unless you aren’t in bed before sunset, that isn’t an issue. Very nice breakfast, very friendly staff, and the restaurant at the Old Hall is great.

Excellent, stayed one night here and loved it. The Old Hall is beautiful, really feels like you’ve stepped back in time. The food was incredible and at reasonable prices, the fish and chips was especially good! Sadly they didn’t have two of the deserts we had wanted from the menu but the trifle we eventually settled on was very nice! Only downside was the room didn’t feel super clean, few hairs, cobwebs etc, especially in the old basin (Room 5!). Service in terms of the staff was brilliant too.

Very lucky to get a table for Sunday lunch having not reserved a table. The food was amazing. All 5 of us had Sunday lunch covering all the available options (including veggie). The food was high quality, plentiful and beautifully presented. Service was impeccable too. Many thanks.

Really beautiful luxurious room with a lot of thought put into making sure guests have every comfort. The food in the pub was top notch. I recommend the lamb Henry. Staff were friendly and helpful. A great base for the western Peaks.

We came here for one night to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. The staff were very helpful in organising a bottle of Champagne for when we arrived for lunch, and they’d given us a lovely window seat. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast and all three meals were outstanding. My husband said his fillet steak was in the top 2 steaks he’d ever had - high praise! We selected our breakfast choices on a slip the day before and it was served in the pub lounge next to a beautiful roaring fire. In addition to the hot breakfast they also had our fresh fruit and yogurt, cereal, toast and assorted jams and honey and fresh tea and coffee. Just wonderful! The property seems to have three rooms and they are all accessed by external doors so we could come and go as we pleased. We were in Room 2 with the comfiest bed, tea and coffee and little extra chocolates were provided, and the bathroom was very spacious with a good shower. Nothing was too much for any of the staff. We’d love to come again when the weather is nicer and explore nearby. You will need a car or grab a taxi to get anywhere.

We had two wonderful dinners at the Lamb Inn while on a hiking holiday in the Peak District. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the fish and chips to the pie and beef bourguignon, was all 5 stars. Kids enjoyed their meals as well. Will definitely return the next time we are back.

Didn't eat here but came for the cocktail menu and so glad we did, a great selection of crafted cocktails on offer the french martini is rarely found but so glad they had it. Nice tasting mocktails aswell for us drivers

Went for some happy hour cocktails, good price and absolutely fantastic cocktails along with very friendly service. Will defo will be going back!

Spent the evening here for cocktails and they didn’t disappoint….. best drinks and the bar is amazing and the hosts too, Mahmoud was so friendly and hospitable, a really pleasant experience all round, will definitely come again as we were local, a truly hidden gem. Do not hesitate to go here you won’t be disappointed

Visited yesterday with friends. Cocktails were spot on and atmosphere was very nice. Bar is spotlessly clean and staff were very polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend a visit and i myself will hopefully be coming again soon.

Been a few times for a drink/ice cream and really liked the atmosphere so decided to try the food. Went with a large group and impressed with the attentive service and how delicious the food was :) Lots of options on the menu, I had the beef loaded fries and did not disappoint!

This place is amazing! The food is beautiful, (no pretentious rubbish) with generous portions. The best thing for me is the staff, they are so friendly and welcoming, it makes for such a nice atmosphere. If anyone reading this wants to learn how to be in a customer facing role, you should get yourself down here, get drinks, food and learn from the best! 😁

Lovely little pub with an extensive and well laid out menu. Choice was made a little hard by all the tasty sounding options. Staff were pleasant and very friendly service was quick but not rushed. Good choice of drinks There was a little farm shop inside....a return visit necessary to have a look around. Food was delicious and good portion size. Would definitely recommend.

Great food. Much better than any around my area. Prices are very good too. Big portions. Some pressure to pay with cash, though I did use my card. Can take own drinks that saves a bit of money.

Had take away so haven't rated the atmosphere. Food was fresh, hot and very tasty! We ordered over the phone and the food was ready when i arrived. I asked how much extra poppadoms would be as we forgot to order them... the waiter gave me them for free and rounded the cost down to £20! Great service. My wife said it was the best Indian she had had for a long time.

Lovely little Indian restaurant tucked away in Whaley Bridge. The food is absolutely spot on every time we go, generous portions and always happy to accommodate special requests. Staff are friendly, food is speedy and you can bring your own drinks, what's not to like?!
