Fischer's Baslow Hall
Calver Rd, Baslow, Bakewell DE45 1RR, UK
Phone: 01246 583259
“Visited Fischer's at Baslow Hall for an early valentine's dinner with my partner. Neil and the serving staff were great and very friendly. The service never felt rushed and we had a drink in the bar area before being shown to our table. My partner and I have eaten at a fair few fine dining/Michelin restaurants over the years but this was the first time we've booked the Kitchen Bench experience. Ant and his kitchen staff were all very professional and relaxed and were happy to chat, have a laugh and answer any questions we had. They explained the dishes and the processes behind them and it was interesting to see the dishes being assembled and 'coming to live' on the pass. We enjoyed a 9 course tasting menu with some of the highlights being the fish course (especially the Bouillabaisse which it was served with), the Mushroom Pithivier and Egg Custard Tart! We were both very pleased with the whole experience and would thoroughly recommend it. Thanks for a great evening!”

The Maynard
Main Rd, Grindleford, Hope Valley S32 2HE, UK
Phone: 01433 424110
“I've stayed at the Maynard a few times for both work and pleasure in the last few months. I really like it. It's a beautiful historic building in a lovely location in a wooded gorge. The rooms have historic details but have also been modernised thoughtfully with respect to their heritage. Some features are slightly tired, but only slightly and at the price point it's to be expected. There's also what looks like it would be a cracking beer garden in the summer with good views. The food is really good, and very reasonably priced. A slight case of ideas above its station sometimes (there's a scallop starter especially with what I think was a celeriac puree that didn't really work and was fairly meagre at the price point). There's also a good selection of cask ales which I appreciate. Staff were also helpful and friendly. There are two things I would improve: 1. It doesn't start breakfast until 8am. That's pretty late to start breakfast, when staying for work I had to leave earlier than that and whilst they were good with arranging for me to have breakfast earlier, this wasn't guaranteed and I had to miss out on breakfast altogether more than once. 2. I'd expect a hotel of this size to have an EV charging point.”

The Woodyard
Coombs Rd, Bakewell DE45 1AQ, UK
Phone: 01629 690140
“A fantastic place next to the river and pay and display car parks. Lots of seating inside and some tables outside. But I recommend you book as it was very busy, on a Saturday evening, we just managed to book a table in the dog friendly part at 8pm, that's booking the 2 days prior. Great food, very large portions. I had asparagus & pea risotto with coats cheese and it was delicious. My partner had vegan sausage and mash with vegan gravy and loved it. Definitely worth a visit. Next time we'll try the pizza's and a dessert.”

The Prince of Wales Baslow
Church Ln, Baslow, Bakewell DE45 1RY, UK
Phone: 01246 583880
“After reviewing restaurants within this area, The Prince of Wales reviewed very well. We were not disappointed. There is a good selection of starters and not the general pub selection. I had risotto and my wife had pigs cheeks. Both were first class. We then had a Hand Made Beefburger each. The burgers were fantastic. One of the best burgers I have had for a long time. It was just like eating a steak sandwich. Would I go again and recommend. Definitely. If you like my reviews please follow me, as I regularly review.”

The Barrel Inn
Bretton, Hope Valley S32 5QD, UK
Phone: 01433 630856
“Well worth visiting the Barrel Inn even if it's just to enjoy the stunning views it commands. I came with a group for an evening meal. Food portions were more than enough. Fellow eaters chose various options from the menu including fish, shepherds pie, steak pie, risotto. All were happy with the quality and service.”
