Everest Spice Woking

1 St Johns Rd, St John's, Woking GU21 7SE, UK | Restaurant
P: 01483 726290

Rating: 4.7 (266) Price Level:

This place is my absolute favourite restaurant. We eat here regularly - everything on the menu is so flavourful and by far the best curry I've ever had. I like it super hot and the owner is more than happy to make things extra hot for me! If you can handle spicy, I recommend the lamb Nepal Kalio. It's heavenly. If you like tomato-based curries, the Ghurkali lamb is another one of my favourites. The chili paneer starter, samoosas and momos are also incredible! The service is friendly and efficient, it has a great vibe, and I will probably never leave Woking because of the Everest Spice!

Very good food. I had tender lamb in a lip-tinglingly spicy, yoghurt-based Nepalese sauce with a light, airy naan. Friendly and attentive service from Divya. Quiet when I visited. A gem to be revisited.

In Woking for my sins….! Purple Palace in the centre was standard, but I fancied a curry. Checked out and Everest topped the list. Pleasant evening so I walked the 2 miles to the restaurant - I wasn’t disappointed. Settled in, ordered papadums and pickle tray with a Cobra just to settle in. Super tasty. Nepalese cuisine - similar to Indian, but different. I asked the lovely waiter for advice and suggestions. He suggested one of the two Nepalese specials - one was tomato based, the other yoghurt based. I chose the yoghurt one and accepted his recommend of spicy. Pace was perfect, as I enjoyed, the restaurant was filling up, early on a Sunday evening and a passing trade in takeouts. Food arrived, my word, very tasty, lamb could be cut with a fork and the sauce was spot on. The Naan was light, garlicky and tasty. Cobra was chilled and perfect. An all round most excellent meal with different notes to Indian or Bangladesh restaurants. Well worth a try 👍

Interesting restaurant, witha variety of personalities as staff. They were welcoming and polite. The service was incredibly inconsistent. It took 20 mins for anything, 20 mins to get a menu, 20 mins to get water, another for starters and mains. Ended up spending over 3.5 hours there for dinner. The food was pretty tasty though, not too spicy, and good flavour.

This is a gem of a local curry house, just outside Woking. The warmest welcome on arrival and friendly attentive staff. The atmosphere is great and so is the food. The lamb momo's (think spicy dim-sum) are delicious and our side of okra was the best okra I've had. The curries were delicious. We had a great evening here and really enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely return.

Beit Beirut

Fabulous meal at this restaurant. We ordered the tasting menu. Plenty of delicious food. A couple of dishes were a little too spicy for me due to oral autoimmune condition so best to ask first if you can't tolerate spicy.

This is my favourite restaurant in Woking. The food is delicious, the servers are warm and friendly and the portion sizes are great. Best of all, they are not stingy on the bread! I would recommend the tasting menu since you get to a bit of everything, and the meats on the mixed grill are really good.

Delicious food, cosy atmosphere and wonderful service. Beit Beirut know how to treat you, make you feel so welcome and want to come again! Delicious lamb and chicken dishes, full of flavour! We enjoyed wine, coffees and baklava after. Wonderful, caring treatment from all staff! Will absolutely be coming again!

My partner and I visited Beit Beirut for dinner and had a fabulous evening. The food was wonderful and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We had a tasting menu, which included a mixture of cold mezza, hot mezza, meats and rice, and a selection of baklava to finish. We especially loved the Batata Harra, Cheese Sambousek and Lamb Kastaleta. All of the dishes we tried had amazing flavour and seasoning, were cooked to perfection, and they were all presented beautifully. They also have an extensive selection of Lebanese wines to choose from, so you can choose a wine that will compliment the dishes you order. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy delicious authentic Lebanese food.

There is a reason why Beit Beirut has such high ratings. The restaurant itself is clean and warm, the wine wall adds a lovely traditional feel to room, and the atmosphere is soothing. The staff are lovely and attentive, explaining each dish and its origins as it is served. The food itself was full of flavour and varied, so many different foods to try. I tried several dishes like the grilled aubergine starter (included in the cold meze) that I've not tried before and not only enjoyed what I ate but highly recommend. For something different, tasty and friendly in Woking I strongly recommend booking yourself into Beit Beirut. You won't be disappointed.

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our evening here. We were the the first there on a Wednesday. Had prawns and kimchi pancake for starters, were great, kids liked seeing food sizzling on the hot plate. All the mains and rice dishes were all very good. The place livened up as more people came in. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The chef was great.

This is my second visit to Bulgogi with my partner, and I’m pleased to say that we are already planning our next visit! The food was fantastic and excellent quality and the atmosphere during the night time was perfect date night vibes. Our waiter was very attentive and super lovely. And the host is the most kind soul, he makes very engaging conversation and is very funny. We were very happy with the service, and I can’t wait for our next visit! Highly recommend the garlic honey wings and the marinated beef rib

It's the best Korean restaurant in UK. I've been to several Korean restaurants in other regions, but they aren't the traditional Korean style. But here is so authentic Korean style that I was fascinated by the taste. The staffs and restaurant owner were very nice and gave us some side dishes even for free! Very reasonable price compared to other restaurants. I'm gonna visit again next time. I highly recommend you!

I'd give them more stars if I could. The staff is super friendly, helpful and kind. The food was really amazing The only comment from me is that I thought the £12 prawn fried rice was a bit expensive for the amount of the food it was - although it was super tasty. Other than that, so good, totally recommend it.

How did an amazing taste of French cuisine on Valentine’s Day. It was easy to book and easy to find in the High Street of Woking Central. Very close to the train station. Inside the restaurant the workers were very proactive in coming back to check on us and we had our meal served quickly and hot. We enjoyed the three course meal, consisting of a starter a main and the desert all three of which were perfect. Atmosphere in the store was perfect as well. 10 out of 10 experience.

Our waitress Marvina was very kind and friendly. Our food was delicious. Nice open aired breeze. Very welcoming restaurant. I love that the restaurant took time to speak to us since my wife has a seafood allergy. In the US, they don’t that. It feels more personal when they do this. Timing of food was perfect. We did not have to rush. Highly recommend!

Coincidently, I went to Cote two nights in a row (Reading and then Woking). I'd say my experience in Woking was far superior. The attention to detail and plate presentation was far superior in Woking. I also much prefer the ambience and layout of the restaurant in Woking. It feels calmer and more intimate. Staff were lovely in both place but Woking had the edge (maybe because I was a table of 16 in Reading, but of 4 in Woking). They were attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

The chicken liver starter was cooked to the perfect texture. Pasta was very al dente and seafood was fresh. The portion was also very good. Will definitely come again!

A few weeks ago my sister ordered from here the prawn tagliatelle was unbelievable. Wonderful flavours. Last night my partner and me celebrated our anniversary and I suggested going here. Again they did not cease to please. Sensational food. Only disappointment was the tiramisu I got it because they said it was made in house but probably one of the worst I've had, too much dusting on top not creamy or floppy and not sweet enough. I don't really like really sweet desserts but this one lacked in sweetness quite a bit. Otherwise, brilliant 👏🏼

I think it’s pretty authentic, the food is delicious but slightly heavy, we had carbonara (plating was nicer than the picture included, i have already started eating before taking the picture), Creme brûlée and panna cotta. I wish there more sugar on the creme brulee and more flavouring on the panna cotta (fruit compote would be nice) Vibes and service are nice. This place brings you back in Italy.

The food was delicious here and the service by Tara was excellent. She was even kind enough to grab me a clean sheet of the "idiot burger" paper as I loved the design and had wanted to keep mine - it's very reminiscent of Hell's Kitchen and makes me laugh! Would love to come back another time with friends. Maybe on a Monday or Tuesday to take advantage of the 30% off if under 30 deal! 😂

Gorse Hill Hotel Surrey

Hook Heath Rd, Woking GU22 0QF, UK | Hotel

Rating: 4.2 (837) Price Level:

We recently attended a wedding at Gorse Hill Hotel Surrey, and I can not praise the staff enough for their exceptional service. Their involvement and attention to detail were truly impressive, ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the event. The team was knowledgeable, professional, and always ready to assist, making the day even more special for everyone involved. Thank you for creating such a wonderful and memorable experience!

We got married here in August 2024 and were assisted by Celeste. Having been to many wedding fairs and seen lots of venues, none of them were quite as perfect as Gorse Hill. The mansion house and grounds are beautiful. We were lucky to have a warm sunny day and the venue really did come alive, with opportunity for our guests to catch some sunshine and a few drinks. Our wedding day ran perfectly, on time with no faults (that we knew about!). We felt in such good hands with the team here and would highly recommend this venue. We opted for a wedding package which included a three course meal, and our guests were very complimentary of the food. The venue also has great connections with us meeting our florist and pianist at the venue during a wedding fair, both of which were great additions to our day. I want to take a moment to truly thank Celeste for all her help from our very first meeting to after the wedding, she was always available when we needed her for questions and support. We were also helped by Belinda and Jennifer who were also amazing. Many of our guests stayed at the venue the night prior, and enjoyed their stay. It's a nice addition to be able to stay on the grounds for a standard cost, compared to other venues we looked at which were much pricier. We will be sure to come back and visit the venue over the coming years for afternoon teas and to wander the grounds. Thank you all for making our day incredibly special.

I love this place because I had my wedding reception here 2 years ago. We returned on our anniversary this year ,just for the night. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, food is excellent , and to acknowledge our anniversary the hotel put a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries in our room, and provided us with champagne at dinner. The location is great, you are not far from Woking, but you feel in the middle of peace and quiet. Definitely recommended.

Marciano Lounge

Very cute lounge! First time visiting Woking and this place caught our attention as it was busy and had a wonderful summer vibe. Waiters and waitresses were great, attentive and quick. Everything about this place was good, but gave four stars as it was pretty expensive for what we ordered. It’s more justifiable due to the service that was provided. We ordered two drinks (non alcoholic), 3 small tapas and two sides came to almost £40. We will go to another place next time we visit.

Offers a delightful dining experience with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The decor is quirky and vibrant, giving the place a unique charm that makes it perfect for casual meet-ups or a relaxed meal out. The menu is impressively diverse, catering to all tastes with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. I particularly enjoyed the all-day brunch selection, and the tapas dishes were a highlight – full of flavour and well-presented. The drinks menu is also extensive, with a good range of cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic options. Service was friendly and attentive, although it was quite busy during my visit, so there was a bit of a wait for food. However, the staff were apologetic and made sure we were comfortable. One thing I have noticed is that it can be quite hit and miss with staffing in terms of attentiveness and demeanor. Overall, Marciano Lounge is a great spot in Woking for a laid-back meal or drinks with friends. It's a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of food and the inviting atmosphere make it worth while.
