The selection included savory 'sawmai'l, tender 'chou', flavourful 'theokon', succulent 'longue', and hearty 'viande'. Each bite was a delightful nod to the vibrant street food scene of Mauritius, transporting me back with its authenticity and freshness. Roy, the proprietor, is the epitome of reliability. His culinary craftsmanship is evident in every morsel, and I'm eager to persuade him to expand his repertoire with boulettes boasting the rich tastes of shrimp and lobster. The accompanying crushed chilli provided a zesty punch that invigorated the senses. A visit to the market also offered a heartwarming glimpse of the Mauritian flag, gracefully dancing in the gentle breeze—a beacon of the island's spirit in Croydon. A heartfelt thank you to Roy and family for this gastronomic journey. I eagerly anticipate my next visit for another taste of Mauritius.

Great service from Mr Roy and food was authentically mauritian. He even went above and beyond to provide dishes outside the current menu. Really appreciated the warm atmosphere and the constant care for guests. Would easily rate this as the best Mauritian restaurant in the UK for the food at the present moment (after trying most of them)

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful place, and I was blown away by the quality of their dholl puri, gâteau banane, and napolitaine. It’s a must-try for anyone who appreciates authentic, flavorful street food.

The food here is genuinely delicious and the service is always great. Amazing vegan options too! It’s our go to in Coulsdon, can’t recommend highly enough.

Taste Gaurantee! Been having food since sometime now and they always find a way to amaze you with their taste. This time we tried chicken tikka wrap & chicken thali. Wrap was very filling as their name & tasty with their signature sauce. Thali was served with 3 types of curries, rice, naan & salad which was again filling and value for money. Must go for it if you want to try multiple curries at the same time! Also Mayur is a gem of a person serving us very happily as always. He is one of the reason you want to come back to this place again!

Oh my goodness. One of the nicest curries I’ve had for a long time. Staff are always pleasant and happy to help. High recommendation to try….so I did. Lovely and not overpriced. Good value for money.

Bhaisahab 🔥, Kya gazab khana banate ho yrrr. Maza aa gaya, So elegant, So beautiful, and tastes like a WOW, just WOW! Amazing personality, kudos to Mayur. Gem of a person. And food, I can't stop thinking about the flavours, the aroma, the presentation, the uniqueness of the range of Kababs, Rices, Wraps and a lot more! Amazing small restaurant in Coulsdon. All the food choices tasted so good! Our waiter Ethan provided excellent service which really enhanced the evening! Definitely recommend this restaurant.

I honestly never expected to eat so well in a small restaurant in a little-known street in Croydon. After leaving Gatwick airport, I searched on Google Maps for a Japanese restaurant near me that was open until 10pm, I found this one, I was very lucky. I made a big order because we were very hungry. I tried everything and I was very satisfied, especially the fried food. The place is small but well organized and clean, the service was excellent. Absolutely recommended.

Visited for dinner. The service here was very good. The restaurant is quite small with limited seating and was quite busy on the Friday night we visited. We got a variety of items and all were quite good. The only disappointment was the tuna tataki which was extremely fishy and unpleasant, but the rest of the meal was great. The nigiri set and sashimi sets were fresh and with decent portions. Soft shell crab was cooked well and tasted fresh. The plum wine they have is delicious!

Absolutely the best Spanish food in the area. Every single time - whether it was delivery or dine-in experience - I got great food and experience there. You can blindly order anything there and it will be cooked and served fantastically. The smallest downside - it can get super loud inside, but otherwise food is totally worth it!

Theres a buzz from the minute you walk in the door. A feeling of an authentic Spanish seaside restaurant, food is excellent and staff are all friendly and attentive. A great place for a party or special occasion or an upbeat night out. Book ahead, it's always busy, that speaks volumes in itself. Highly recommend for tapas and paella 😊🥘

We booked here for a meal out with my girlfriends, it was a Tuesday night and the atmosphere was good. The service was brilliant and the staff were friendly and entertaining. Food was incredible, one of the best tapas I have tried. Each tapas plate was hot and smelt delicious and individual, which some tapas can blend into one flavour. We ordered two dishes each and shared the dishes. Can't wait to come back.

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! Everything was freshly cooked and even though we were a group of 10 people they managed to bring all the food out together and hot. The portion sizes are great and this is true home cooked food, not pre prepared microwaved stuff. Great value, great food, great service!

My wife and I had a lovely meal to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday evening, just a few weekends before Christmas. There was a huge Christmas party also there at the same time, but it just added to the atmosphere and didn’t impact anything. We had changed the time of our booking earlier in the day to an hour later. Thank you for accommodating us! The Chateaubriand steak for two wasn’t quite what we were expecting. It felt more like lots of cooked steaks all on one plate, but it was tasty nonetheless. The waitresses were lovely - very friendly and had good recommendations! We left very satisfied and are looking forward to returning again soon. Thank you

The steak and service were amazing! We were served by Keerthi who was really lovely. She provided a great service without being overbearing. We ordered off the set menu which is really reasonably priced.

A great find on a 10 mile country walk. Greatcovered garden space and plenty of tables indoors. Even has a bar in the garden! Good prices for the food.

So pleased I found this pub it is in a lovely quiet spot and only 20 mins up the road from me lots of space inside and out for seating. The food was really nice and the staff were friendly and polite would definitely recommend and will be back again.

What a lovely surprise to find this gorgeous country pub. The garden is delightful and I am sure very popular in the summer. From the car park, you are led down a pathway lit by twinkly lights, very pretty. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and seated in the cosy restaurant. The food was amazing! It was the best pie I have ever had and my partner really enjoyed the burger. The prices are very reasonable too. This place is an absolute hidden gem, definitely our favourite, we will return! This is a gem of a place, and I strongly recommend it! We have been there once before with some friends and this time we took my parents for a special occasion. The staff were very friendly and catered to all our requests, especially when it came to the food (for fussy children). The atmosphere is great whenever you go and the food is delicious. Everything is reasonably priced, including the drinks. We loved it and will definitely be going back!!

Me and my family decided to try out this restaurant to celebrate my grandmother’s anniversary (would recommend booking in advance, the restaurant is definitely a hot spot in Coulsdon)! One of my best experiences in a restaurant, truly! Great staff, very attentive and nice, the food is amazing, full of flavour and just on point, even the desserts are tasty! Will recommend this restaurant to my friends and I will most definitely come back! A big thank you to the staff for giving my grandma a great experience on her special day!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first dining experience at Lo Zafferano. All the food that we ordered were amazing and serving portions are generous and well worth the price. The penne arrabbiata is highly recommended as well as their branzino. Great atmosphere and the staff are friendly and very accommodating. We have been looking for a local Italian restaurant for a while and we finally found it! I highly recommend Lo Zafferano and we will be returning for sure.

Lo Zafferano is a New Restaurant on the site of the now closed La Scarpetta. Lo Zafferano opened its doors on the 7 November 2022 with a new manager and head chef (who are also the new owners!). All reviews before this date should be disregarded! We had a really enjoyable evening here tonight... we started with a couple of excellent Negroni cocktails and some great homemade focaccia. We shared a starter of grilled squid with salami which was great, the squid being very tender. My calves liver was perfect: really thin slices, not overcooked with a balanced sauce with onions. My wife had the mixed grilled fish which was deftly cooked, lightly seasoned and had a great variety! We finished by sharing a peice of their homemade Tres Leche cake with Italian meringue - stunning! A small but perfectly formed wine list is available and a comprehensive cocktail menu as well. Warm, genuine and friendly service and the pride of the 2 owners was very evident! Highly recommended and Lo Zafferano deserves to be a success!

I can't praise this restaurant highly enough. The food was absolutely delicious and served really hot on heated plates. The portion sizes were just right. The attention the four of us received from all the staff was excellent. They were attentive and friendly. This is a restaurant that I am looking forward to visiting again. I would highly recommend Lo Zafferano. It is brilliant.

Lovely little Irish pub. Friendly atmosphere.

After recently moving to the area I was keen to try this pub. This was a really nice experience, the staff were welcoming, friendly and polite even when I was mad drunk and I think it was their pale ale (not lager) I ordered, which was really reasonable for this part of London and tasted amazing, I’m not usually a fan of ale but this was wicked. Love it

Great pub with a wide selection of drinks and even better food available at a reasonable price. Both the smashed burger and chicken burger was a hit, will defo order them again! Should have tried the fish and chips, was eavesdropping the table next to us saying how good it was. Lovely welcoming atmosphere, and good vibe. Will absolutely come back!

As for a Sunday I ordered fish, cucumber salad, aubergine, lady finger and chillies. It’s the best dish ever. I will definitely recommend all my friends and family to order. I will order again for sure. Thank you so much.

Food was so good, we only gave 4 stars because we felt the pizza was not worth the high price and the steak and ale pie meat was a bit tough but tasty. Eloise and Destiny served us and did a brilliant job. They made us feel welcome and were extremely attentive and efficient when it came to our needs.

Went without booking a table for a birthday meal on a Thursday lunch time. During half term so there were a few tables but overall quiet. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I am lactose intolerant and Mums gluten free so the glass onion app makes viewing allergen info super easy. Was chuffed the fish and chips is dairy free! They’d run out of the vegan crumble but offered to make us a quick one but didn’t want to jeopardise the quality which was sweet of them to offer. Food was delicious, generous portions and arrived quickly and hot. Will definitely be back to try the crumble!

We are great fans of The Fox, Coulsdon Common & would recommend it to everyone. We had delicious food (always is!) & were really well looked after by Destiny & Eloise. They were friendly, smiley & attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming & it is dog-friendly, which is, to my mind, a winner. Come & try it….pub classics but with a high end twist.

A very nice festive stop-off. Lovely and warn, a very cosy pub, and the food hit the spot !! Meals and drinks are very reasonably priced, and of very good quality. Very good service and atmosphere - plenty of seating choices for all preferences. Recommended and would definitely visit again.

Went here last night...fantastic night out with the family and the staff here are the best. Really made you feel welcome, friendly, lovely food and service. Definitely will be returning again. Our waitress Mary was amazing and really went out beyond to help us. The gentleman behind the bar was very friendly and helpful too. All in all a fabulous night out...10/10. Xx

Went for daughter's birthday and she enjoyed a what you get for your money meal there.Staff was helpful and friendly ,even when 2 drinks was accidentally spilled by kids and taking time with ordering. Would go back again. Thanks for making her birthday meal nice and easy!
