Stayed overnight on a Saturday, after a nice walk around Peaslake and Abinger. The room was very nice. Large and comfy bed, modern bathroom (walk in shower, no bath) and very clean. Evening dinner was exceptional food and the breakfast also. Very impressed and would definitely stay again.
I love this pub. It does great food at reasonable prices, has an amazing garden and the staff are super friendly. There are some nice walks through the Forrest just up the hill from the pub too. There is a cafe attached to the pub too with a separate entrance that does nice coffee, they have inside and outside tables. The outside tables catch the sun.
What a great hidden gem this place is!! Food was delicious, service excellent with a great atmosphere. We stayed one night, the room was spacious, bed comfortable and don’t be put off by the ‘continental style breakfast’ I’m normally a full English type customer but the spread was plentiful and very tasty. Definitely would stay again!
We visited for dinner on a Thursday night and the pub didn't put a foot wrong. The service was friendly and attentive. The drink selection was very reasonably priced and well appointed - it isn't everywhere you can get a delicious pint of bitter *and* a negroni. And the quality of the food and its presentation belied the very reasonable price, this was gastronomy at pub grub prices. We'll definitely be back.
