Sorrel Restaurant

“Second time at the restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience. It was a mini honeymoon as we got married the day before. We went for the wine flight too and was served by Luke(?) who was very interesting and served some incredible wines. Flora (we think that was her name!) was our server and she was exceptional. And finally, the food was just brilliant and so so tasty. It felt a bit like having the best food we've had in ages in a family home type vibe, so lovely was the atmosphere. Obviously it cost and arm and a leg, but it's really worth it and you must have this kind of restaurant experience at least once if you're able to, especially for a special occasion, or if someone else if paying! Thanks again for making the effort with the flowers, personal menu etc. It meant a lot! Cheers, Dave and Chloe.”

The Dabbling Duck
Middle St, Shere, Guildford GU5 9HF, UK

“Had a lovely breakfast at the dabbling duck. The staff were all very friendly and service and food could not be faulted. There was only one fly in the ointment. We sat inside the cafe as did a lot of dog owners. My friend has allergies and is a bit wary of dogs so it was a bit off putting to her. They were also all a bit over excited and ‘talking’ to each other which made it hard for us to converse. I’ve no objection to well behaved dogs but not everyone feels the same for various reasons and they are not necessarily just being intolerant. The Dabbling Duck has a large heated marquee outside as well as covered heated outdoor seating. Would it not be a good compromise to welcome dogs only to these areas and keep the small inside seating area pet free. Other than that small niggle it was a lovely brunch before a bracing walk in beautiful countryside surrounding Shere.”

“Stunning pub both inside and out. Spacious but cozy dining areas, all separated by oak beams and on various levels - very quirky. Lovely open fire in the bar and one of the best beer gardens in Surrey with the stream running right through it. An ideal place all year round with superb food and service..!”

“Enjoyed a family dinner at The Parrot and LOVED it! The food was fantastic with a super allergy-friendly menu. The back side of the menu has a QR code that takes you to a menu that can be filtered by allergen so that you can be assured your meal will be safe for your dietary restrictions. The fish and chips was outstanding. The piece of fish was thick and fresh with a shatteringly crispy fry on the exterior. The mushy peas were refreshing and a pleasant novelty from the perspective of a tourist! There were multiple cask ales on tap, so our party collectively tried them all. The Shere Drop was my personal favorite! And definitely save room for dessert! There are multiple sorbet options and even a vegan cheesecake.”

“Lovely pub with stunning views! We came here for brunch and ending up coming back for a late lunch too after a local walk! Lovely and spacious outdoor seating, lots of seating too so plenty of space. The indoor area was lovely too - I imagine it’ll be really nice and cosy in the winter. The pancakes with bacon were tasty. And the chicken and chorizo was ok too, probably not my favourite. Staff were really lovely and friendly. Both times it did take a while to pay but it wasn’t a huge deal and they were super friendly the whole time. I’ll definitely return here!”

The Abinger Hatch
Abinger Ln, Abinger Common, Dorking RH5 6HZ, UK
Phone: 01306 730737
“Nice country pub serving food. Suday lunch was good. Sounds like the vegetarian/vegan option is a wellington but the contents of it changes by week. When I visited it was curried sweet potatoes with some other vegetables inside. It was delicious with just a subtle curry spice that went well with the traditional trimmings. It's always a bit disappointing to find that the sides - stuffing, cauliflower cheese etc don't have a vegan alternativebut otherwise the food was good!”

The Plough Inn

“I’ve been to this place a few times now, when flying to and from Gatwick Airport. I’ve always been impressed by the staffs politeness and courtesy, going that extra mile. They are very dog friendly with treats at the bar, and water bowls provided. There has been a hansom, well behaved, and affectionate Australian kelpie dog there on a few of my visits. The rooms are reasonably priced have been consistently clean, tidy and comfortable during my stay. I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough Inn to any other traveller or patron.”

Denbies Wine Estate
Bradley Ln, Dorking RH5 6AA, UK
Phone: 01306 876616
“Really lovely tour. The train car ride was my favourite bit. The views were STUNNING. The only reason I’m not giving full 5 stars is because I did not enjoy the wine tasting. It felt incredibly rushed and we only tasted 3 wines, all of which were similar, I would have liked a bit more variety. As well as it felt like everything EXCEPT wine was being promoted. Really beautiful place though Lunch was AMAZING”
