Rose & Crown - Mundy Bois
Mundy Bois Road, Mundy, Bois near, Pluckley, Ashford TN27 0ST, UK | Pub P: 01233 840048
Rating: 4.7 (509) Price Level:
Hidden down a nice country lane, the atmosphere in this pub is lovely. A couple of roaring open fires, friendly locals and staff and comfy chairs make the bar area perfect for breaking up a winter walk. The restaurant does heart Sunday lunches which were reasonably priced, but the winner was the ambience of the bar area to snuggle up for an hour

Great little pub with good beer and a decent outside area for younger kids. Back has a garden bar with a limited selection but good enough. Although we haven't attended it looks like they have a few events in the summer too. With great weather you have a choice of outdoor seating in the front (with views over the field) or.the back away from the road and close to the play area. On Sunday we popped in for just a drink but the food looked great. It was busy too with many tables reserved.

This is quite possibly one of the best pubs for food and service that I have ever been to. I was amazed not only by the quality of the food but also by how wonderful the staff were. My wife and I live in Dubai, where food and service are second to none and we were hoping for a good meal in a nice spot with a friendly welcome. Rose & Crown not only delivered that but completely exceeded our expectations. One of the best in Kent for sure ๐

We booked a table for 2 along with our dog Milo. I have to say both me and my husband agreed that the meal was fabulous. The game pie was absolutely amazing. Alongside the food the staff were fantastic and were very accommodating especially as Milo is a giant breed and not the average dog. This is definitely a place we will revisit. So carry on doing the good work. Milo say thank you as he loved all the cuddles.

I attended Rose and Crown for the first time for my birthday. I'd never been before but Google searches suggested it was a good place for gluten free food. The pub itself is nestled away in a small village location. The restaurant was clean and although a little cramped it wasn't a problem at all. The food was incredible, all round delicious and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. The staff however, they were a league above. The service, the friendly nature, the willingness to help and make the evening as enjoyable and special as possible was very refreshing and something that I don't often get to experience anymore at restaurants. I came away thinking what a great place and not just because the food was delicious but because I felt like the staff were actually happy and cared. I don't know the ladies' names who served us but hats off to them! Compliments all round. I will certainly remember this restaurant and pub for future meals. Thank you Rose and Crown! One point to note which is useful for others we spent approximately ยฃ200 for 5 people but I didn't once think it wasn't worth it.

The Garden Restaurant

Ate at this cafe yesterday (29/04/24). Have eaten there before Christmas last year. Such a popular place. There are 3 areas of tables. Some inside the cafe itself, a couple adjacent to cafe where dogs are welcomed and a barn area outside. As you can see Iโd the full English Breakfast with toast. It was filling. My friend and I both had the same. We were both full and decided to each buy a scone to take home. My friend chose the cream + jam, and both weโre boxed up nicely and they kept them in the cafe (once weโd paid for them) until we returned from looking round the garden centre itself. Well worth a visit. Friendly and attentive staff. Clean and tidy in all areas.

The cake was fantastic, the milkshake apparently was great but my luxury hot chocolate was cold and only a half cup under the cream which was a little disappointing. We will return, just not for hot chocolate ๐

First time coming here after hearing really good things. The food was delicious, good portions and well presented. The atmosphere was lovely; nicely decorated, clean and cosy. The service was a bit slow and was awhile until we ordered food but the staff were kind and friendly and I think it was only a bit slow due to being a few days before Christmas and quite busy. I look forward to going back to try other things off their menu. Highly recommend.

Lovely place to take the family. It is lovely to see everyone there and the charity work which you can see with your own eyes is amazing. Will definitely come back. Only downside was the food but other than that a great day out

A gem of a place! Amazing for kids! My wife and I went there with our 3yr old, 2yr old and 6month old. From the moment we walked through the entrance to leaving, we all had a great time. It was wonderful seeing the kids enjoying the animal Pettit f section. The site is very large, with lots happening and even more to see. You could emailed spend the whole day there seeing the animals, presentations, parks, play areas, including large soft-play, and restaurant. Our favourites were the Butterfly tunnel and the petting area. It was a brilliant day. Great value for money. Highly recommend. We will definitely be revisiting.

We've just come back, amazing place! We had a tractor ride and watched a pig racing ๐ there're lots of toilets and hand wash stations, playgrounds and apart from farm animals they have butterflies and birds too. Such a great day we had! Plus they help people with special needs who live in houses nearby so it's always worth supporting them with purchasing a ticket.
Rating: 5 / 5
What a lovely experience, lovely little centre full of farm animals and cute pets. Well worth the annual pass as day entrance is quite expensive, but this is one of those places you can visit more than once and still have a great time. Wasn't too busy but then not sure school holidays had started when I visited , I imagine it can be though. Decent car park but that may be an issue on busier days.

A very good country pub serving Harvey's Sussex best and quality carvery on Sundays. The pub is a well oiled machine with excellent organisation. No waiting but also not rushed. A good sized gravel car park to rear.

WOW WOW WOW What an amazing experience at the black horse, we was greeted by the most welcoming owners and able to choose our own seats meaning as a couple we wasnโt just plonked in a corner and forgotten we instead was waited on hand and foot!! The food was delicious ๐ I had the bubble and Quack which was fabulous (the duck yolk was ooozing) and my husband had a spicy bean mix with a GIANT pork chop. A great value for money and accompanied by great service from all the staff. They even gave poppy (our Labrador) some treats so she felt at home

Went here for our work Christmas meal, fantastic atmosphere, food was top notch and the turkey was cooked to perfection, felt it was extremely good value for money too.
Rating: 4 / 5
Good space, pleasing ambience, and pleasant staff. The main course food was very tasty whereas the desserts were 'OK'. Service was a bit slow for a not too busy day, but we were in no rush, so it wasn't a big deal. We'll go again, though.
Rating: 5 / 5
Lovely looking pub with plenty of parking. The menu wasn't too big but the food was fantastic. Four of us went, and we all had something different. And the food was fantastic. Staff we extremely attentive, which made it a truly nice experience. Will definitely be going back there.
Rating: 5 / 5
Having arrived towards the end of food service in the evening we were still given stellar treatment from arrival to departure. The team were welcoming, friendly and informative. We both had the beef burger and chips and honestly could not fault anything! The pie fillings were tempting too. Both of our desserts were excellent and I cannot thank the team enough for recommending the chocolate orange mousse. Excellent service. Will be coming back again soon!

Dering Arms
The Grove, Ashford TN27 0RR, UK | Seafood Restaurant P: 01233 840371
Rating: 4.1 (29) Price Level:
Lovely food, fantastic waitress, good host. It was quiet maybe due to the lack of heating which is the only negative
Rating: 5 / 5
Excellent meal here today! Incredible, historic building and very friendly welcome. Food was EXCEPTIONAL!! Truly fantastic fish, prawns and desserts. We were really happy with our meal. If only we lived closer - we would be here often!!
Rating: 4 / 5
Don't be put off by other negative reviews. I wasn't, I read the positive ones and decided it was the place to try. The pub is a home full of character. We called before as in the area and were greeted with a positive welcome. Our meal was cooked to order, with a passion for food. Sardines were large cooked perfectly with rosemary, bread was warm and soft. Sea bass was meaty laid on samphire with a lobster and mussel bisque (clearly homemade from lobster shell stock, yum) lovely new potatoes and fresh veggies. Just about room for dessert, we had apple sultana laced with calvados on a homemade shortbread disc with ice cream. Finished off with a lovely coffee and homemade biscuit. The meal was hot and remained so while eating a good sign of being cooked fresh and not left on a hotplate. The owner is the chef and on reading information about the Dering Arms he's had the building since he was 27 and now plans to retire....it will be a great loss for the area. The landlord buys fish and seafood each week from the coast and adapts his specials board to what's in season. He has reasonable room hire for b&b. Call him first to ensure it's serving, and he's still the chef. Slight threshold step

Popped in for a quick drink with my family when we were visiting the area this afternoon. Knew I'd walked into a good pub when I saw the pile of Classic & Sports Car magazines on the bar! Very well kept pint of Goacher's Dering Ale. Nice chap behind the bar and spotlessly clean loos. Will be back for one of their advertised classic car meetings and to try the food!

Another lovely evening at this charming pub. We have been a few times over the past 2 decades and have never been disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and the wines are absolutely top notch. Thanks again to the landlord and chef
