We chose Gorwell for our wedding in July 2024, booking two years prior. Mary and the Team are fantastic, you can really tell that they want your big day to be a success. Mary was full of recommendations for vendors, which was amazing as it can definitely feel overwhelming. Throughout the communication was fantastic and there was no such thing as a silly question. The Farm and the cottages were fantastic and being able to get married outside under the trees was incredible. Thank you so much Mary & Family! (photos by Charlotte Stoneham Photography)

We got married at Gorwell Farm on September and we can’t recommend it enough! The most beautiful venue and surroundings, the bar was great and the cottages and campsite were ideal for our guests. We can’t wait to return as guests!

Very interesting day out. The guides were so knowledgeable and helpful. So much to see that I will need to go back to spend more time in the fantastic gardens. Bit of a walk from the car park if your mobility is not great.

Gorwell Farm hosted our wedding (and accommodation) and was excellent from beginning to end. It’s. A beautiful, rustic venue but has been fully modernised and updated with all conveniences for a wedding whilst still retaining the rustic feel. All queries were addressed quickly and we couldn’t imagine it being any better.

This is a little gem of a restaurant! I'm a total novice when it comes to Korean and Japanese food so I went for the Siksa tasting menu which gave me the opportunity to try lots of new things. Honestly, everything was incredible and I look forward to going again and trying more things.

A lunchtime treat! We ate the really great value lunchtime menu. Starting with prawns, I then followed this with the beef, absolutely amazing. Great glass of wine too!

Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! I couldn’t name any of the courses, but every single one of them was absolutely delicious Fresh, tasty and unforgettable We could definitely come back and couldn’t recommend highly enough *****

No doubt about it: we will be back! The quiet atmosphere of the restaurant captures you at first, then the incredible and attentive service opens the door to the main thing: the delicious food! The presentation of the dishes is impeccable, the quality of the product is amazing and the combination of flavours is out of this world! You can see that there is a lot of work behind the scenes thinking about what should be on the menu and what quantity is perfect to eat! really amazed, taste, quality, good service and price more than appropriate. See you soon!

This can be recommended for its food, service and ambience. We went with two friends and we all enjoyed our starters, main courses and dessert. The wine was reasonably priced and pleasant. The serving staff were helpful and pleasant. The decor was good and there was a relaxed atmosphere. This is a real Poundbury asset- I hope, for many years to come!

Great service, delicious food and an intimate dining experience. This is what eating out should be. Well worth a visit. Excellent customer focus and a lovely atmosphere. We have made this our yearly Christmas meal venue and it never disappoints. I cannot wait for our Christmas visit this year!!!
Rating: 5 / 5
We ate with friends and the food was exceptional. The service was “fine” but the inexperience of the young team came across as scripted and insincere. We’ve booked to go again at Christmas, it’s a great, intimate bistro with great food options.

This is now my favourite restaurant and will be telling everyone I know to visit. Had a lovely Friday lunch here, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The staff are friendly and the food and drinks are wonderful. We had 3 courses and they were all well balanced and tasty with my favourite being the chocolate ale cake with caramel miso sauce and muscavodo ice cream. I would keep going back just for that dessert! My husband loved the cocktails including the Japanese sour cocktail which was just one example of the great and interesting selection of cocktails available. Definitely visit again as soon as we can.

The Square & Compass
Worth Matravers, Swanage BH19 3LF, UK | Pub P: 01929 439978
Rating: 4.8 (2473) Price Level:
Rating: 4 / 5
Keep it simple, a selection of pasties, a sausage roll, and a steak pie, plus some good cider/beer. Served from a hatch which does admittedly cause a bit of a queue, but eaten on tables outside in the sun was worth the wait. Don't miss sticking your head inside to the museum room on the far left and the atmospheric lounge on the right.
Rating: 4 / 5
Excellent and very popular pub in a very pretty little village. Has excellent views from the front seating area to the sea. There are quite a few footpaths that converge in the area so it is very popular with walkers. The food is excellent, and it has a tiny, and very strange little museum.
Rating: 5 / 5
Such a special place. Can't beat it. Frequented the place when we lived in Dorset & come back on every visit. Visited today after a lovely walk from Worth on the Priest's Way, down to Dancing Ledge for a swim & back along the coast to Windspit before heading to The Square & Compass for a Pint & a Pasty. Nowt fancy, just good honest food at a good price. Couldn't ask for better.
Rating: 4 / 5
After a lovely sunny walk we ended up at the Square & Compass. We had an ale and mulled cider with a steak pasty and a chicken leek and bacon pie. Service was quick and the staff were polite and friendly. We sat in one of the snugs. The whole place is a living museum and you step back in time once you cross the threshold. Service is through a hatch in line with the entrance, it became very congested very quickly with only a few people being present. Not so easy to navigate once you add a tray with drinks and food on it.

Restaurant Roots
141 Belle Vue Rd, Southbourne, Bournemouth BH6 3EN, UK | Restaurant P: 01202 430005
Rating: 4.8 (251) Price Level:
Rating: 5 / 5
Had a wonderful lunch at Roots. We have been before, but many years ago. The food, drinks and service are all still top quality. Culinary delights that will entice the senses and tantalise the tastebuds. A very inventive chef who works hard to create wonderful menus. Thank you to all the team for an amazing lunch. We will be back.
Rating: 5 / 5
We are regulars at Roots, so we are aware of Chefs Jan and Stacey’s food. What surprised us last night was the flavour combinations and the care shown to each ingredient. The ultimate in fine dining in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended. What we also enjoyed last night was seeing all the other tables who were new to Roots, being surprised by, and loving the dining experience. We believe this Restaurant should have a Michelin star (or two).
Rating: 5 / 5
We had been here once before many years ago and enjoyed it, and more recently we have been to the sister establishment almost next door, The Cork and Lobster - which is always good. For no real reason we thought why not try Roots again. It is small but we managed to get a table and decided on the smaller of the set menus, which really was enough for us. Delightful and well thought out tastes, with presentation that is not too over-the-top. They carefully changed items to cater for the fact I don't eat pork or drink alcohol. There is a wine flight available alongside the meal but they were just as happy to give recommendations as needed. All the waiters were delightful, informative, and experienced which made the meal that much better and they are a credit to the place. The place remains a highpoint of local food-focused places, and next time, I won't leave it as long!
Rating: 5 / 5
I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could. The most wonderful experience all round - faultless service, food, drinks and atmosphere. I would highly recommend Roots to anyone looking for a wonderful meal out. This place is special enough to feel like a once in a while treat/occasion, but welcoming enough to feel like you’re going to your local neighbourhood restaurant. Perfection all round. Thanks so much, we can’t wait to come back!!!

Twelve Eatery
12 The Triangle, Bournemouth BH2 5RY, UK | Vegan Restaurant P: 01202 310166
Rating: 4.8 (751) Price Level:
Rating: 5 / 5
Amazing food and super friendly customer service. I'm vegan and visited with 3 non-vegan friends. Everyone was very impressed with the food quality and creativity. From the starters we had the 'Camambert' and 'scallops', I was never into seafood so was skeptical of the latter but it was amazing. We also had open lasagne, 'steak' and chips, tofu and chips, and a couple of other dishes. The cheesecake was out of this world!
Rating: 5 / 5
Had the loveliest early evening dinner here! Could not recommend this place enough, the food is to die for and the staff are incredibly friendly! We ordered the Camembert which was absolutely insane whole different level of yummy, followed by the Sunday chicken and tofu and chips. Perfect portions and gorgeous presentation - we will be back!
Rating: 5 / 5
Fantastic food and excellent service. 100% vegan with interesting and exciting dishes. On this occasion, we ordered the same dish and were a little disappointed, but every other occasion has been incredible, so pitting it down to wrong ordering. Looking forward to visiting again.

Beautiful time at Twelve. Friendly, relaxed staff. Beautiful decor reminding me of a first class carriage on the orient express... and the food was just glorious. Mostly made in house, lovingly described and discussed by the team, and extremely tasty. It made me so proud to be Vegan and so happy to spend a weekend in Bournemouth- thank you all so much.

I had the fully vegan breakfast and was thoroughly impressed—it definitely didn’t disappoint! I followed it with the breakfast wrap, which was equally amazing. However, the lemon cake was the real highlight. Would have happily eaten more if we could. It was absolutely delicious!

Came here with my sisters hen do, enjoyed it so much I had to show it to my partner. I love the atmosphere here, the servers are so kind and friendly you feel right at home. The drinks are delicious! I'm lucky I got to try quite a few with the group. The food is absolutely delicious 🤤 and I am quite a picky eater but I loved it all. Over all I would recommend to anyone and will be coming back in future.

We don’t really know Dorchester but found ourselves at Brewery Square, just away from the town centre. It was a place full of unexciting corporate eateries with one exception - Vibes. We went in because it was dog friendly but stayed for the eye poppingly delicious vegan food. We ate a fantastic mushroom shawarma plate, a felafel wrap and some onion rings too. All were absolutely delicious. Really good. Add in some chilled music & calming decor & this was truly a place of positive, er, Vibes. Visit & be delighted.

Popped in here for breakfast while our car charge. Excellent breakfast menu with amazing vegan options, very tasty juices and great coffee. Left feeling full and well watered and bought some sweet treats for later. Very much worth checking out.

An absolutely brilliant restaurant offering a lovely range of delicious meals, with focus on local Dorset ingredients. The three course set menu is definitely worth the money, and I found each course to be very delicious! Even though this is described as a “bistro”, the dishes do come off as quite complex and the restaurant certainly offers fine dining. The drinks on offer were also very lovely, and the servers were helpful and friendly. Overall, our meal was an entirely positive experience and this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Outstanding 8 course taster menu. Beautifully cooked meal, so much fresh fish and seafood. Carefully adapted the menu to food allergies too. Can't wait to come back again!

Outstanding!!!! From arrival to departure we were looked after. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about each course and the wine. We will be returning! My only feedback was that I felt the restaurant was cold. However, it has high ceilings and is open plan! I imagine heating isn't easy and expensive! So I'll take a shawl next time it's not a problem.

What an awesome restaurant. Every single dish in our tasting menu was off the chart good. Everything beautifully conceived and presented, totally delicious and special. Lovely wines and service too. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Catch Weymouth WOW! WOW! WOW! What an experience!! We were very lucky to get a table at CATCH Weymouth on september 11th and I completely messed up the times. We were meant to dine at 6pm and have the 4 course tasting menu and turned up at 6.45 by mistake. The host was so understanding and got us a table for 7pm with the 6 course evening tasting menu and we were so very grateful. This was one of those once in a lifetime opportunities where you experience a true culinary experience at a level unsurpassed. Chef Mike Naidoo and his BOH team created a tasting menu beyond belief. Each course was delivered by the FOH team and then Mike would attend the table and give a full description how the dish was created and all the elements of cooking and ingredients. This for us, along with having our taste buds taken to on a journey of discovery and delight, to have chef at our table was the most amazing part of the evening, to have such a highly esteemed and much respected chef spend time with us. Thank you chef for the most amazing and educational evening and for introducing us to the highest levels of culinary excellence Huge thank you hugs Andy and Miles

Amazing service, beautiful food and a really great selection of gluten free cakes and food options. We felt well looked after and well fed! Also, the coffee is on point!

Lovely food and host/wait team! We went for the special barbecue lunch and it was lovely as well as great value. My only comment would be that I'd have loved it if the food had been brought in piping hot but it was delicious nonetheless. Definitely revisiting to try other things on their menu.

An absolutely brilliant cafe with delicious fresh food, friendly staff and very reasonable prices! The South African cuisine was one I had not tried before, but it was presented brilliantly to me with the wide array of inventive yet authentic dishes on offer. The coffee was also brilliant and the cakes were delicious.
