This was our first visit to the area so we asked a shop assistant if she could recommend a nice place for a birthday lunch. Without hesitation she recommended Positano. We were so glad she did. Everything was just brilliant from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious (we had the fried chicken in a white wine mushroom sauce and the salmon with spinach and crushed potatoes😋), the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout all in a lovely relaxing atmosphere too. Thank you for my birthday candle in my dessert it was a lovely thoughtful touch and most certainly the icing on the cake after a wonderful lunch! 😃🥰🎂

Fantastic meal at Positano last night. Superb attentive service whilst not being intrusive. Not been here for several years, as previous experience was not what we expected. However so glad we tried them again and it won’t be the last time. Garlic bread was delicious - so good we forgot to take a photo. I had the risotto and can easily say it was the best I have tasted. My husband had the fish special was equally delicious. The suggested wine pairing was perfect. The puddings rounded off a great night. So give Positano a try and we’ll probably see you there as we are definitely coming back.

The food here is beyond amazing. We chose tiger prawns followed by chicken breast & lamb from the very reasonably priced lunch menu (£20 for 2 courses). Each dish was cooked to perfection and presented as if on MasterChef. The staff are friendly and the chefs clearly know their onions (pun intended) and cook with passion. We very much look forward to going back!

We had a very memorable dinner at Carlo’s Trattoria ! Despite booking a table for 22 of us at very short notice , Bonnie and Jay went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing dinner for my family gathering. The service was attentive and impeccable throughout the whole evening and the food truly delicious with very generous portions. We all had the fixed menu with a selection of starters ( the fried calamari are the best I have eaten in a very long time - even my Sicilian auntie thought they were tastier than the ones in Sicily ) followed by the prawns risotto and fresh ravioli with porcini mushroom and sage which were both heavenly! We ended the dinner with an amazing selection of desserts, all beautifully presented. I live in London but I will definitely drive back to Guildford just to eat at Carlo’s again!. Wow! Amazing food! We will definitely come back again if we're in the area. We had the 2-course set menu which was around £20 which is really good price! We had the breaded king prawn to start, and chicken breast with cream and mushroom, lamb with sauce as main. The set menu came with roasties and veggies which were perfectly cooked too! Everything tasted amazing, even the garlic bread that they served at the start. Looking forward to trying out their pasta!

Lovely dog friendly cafe in a beautiful village with lots of outdoor seating. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. They have a good selection of lunch options. The only critique we would make is that the coffee and walnut cake had little to no coffee in it. But lunch was delicious.

Cafe with quite a large garden area (partially covered - they have a heated yurt!) which is well done up and nice to sit in. Good selection of cakes and drinks with table service. A bit pricey though!

First time came and amazing village… we had latte and duck (which is full)breakfast which was very delicious. What amazed me was the breakfast was hot till half way through as I ate slowly… lol. Anyw, that was super tasty for me. The whole experience was lovely and we planned to come back again some time in the near future.

This is my second time in Shere and at The Dabbling Duck. I came last year as well. I travel from New Zealand and love coming to this place with my family here in England. Great food and staff.

Amazing food in a beautiful setting. The restaurant main building was built in the 17th century, and you can admire its original beauty. The food is delicious! We had the 4 courses menu, and we were both extremely happy with our choices. The service was excellent, fast and professional. All the above for a very reasonable price, £130 without service.

Excellent food and service, menu not huge but very good, four courses of slightly smaller dishes but adds to the variety. Staff are great really knowledgable and attentive without being intrusive. Must book as it does get busy

Wonderful experience. Found the venue on a review site. Booked a table, must admit it was 75 minutes drive away, but oh so worth it! Small bread "loaf" cut into four for us. Crumbly and delicious. We deliberately chose different dishes for each of the four courses to try as many dishes as possible. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Highlights are hard to identify, though I never thought I would have a liver parfait as good as Hestons, I was wrong. Special mention for the mock cocktails but my goodness the roast potatoes were quite exceptional too. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Very clean toilet. Met chef at the end of the meal, what a delightful passionate chef. Well worth the trip for some frankly quite exceptional food.

What a lovely restaurant, The team were excellent, efficient, friendly and so polite. The gentleman who welcomed us on arrival was so welcoming and friendly. We booked for vegan food, four tasty course and weren't disappointed. Tasty freshly cooked vegan food and no fake produced products. The main course and rice pudding were exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We particularly liked the umbrella fountain at the front of the premises. Unfortunately we forgot to take photos.

Three of us had a late lunch in the garden. Beautiful pub with an excellent outside seating area. Very busy, popular place. I had trout with mashed potatoes and onions. Delicious! Im a pescatarian who does not like fish to look like fish. So what i liked was that it was a trout fillet, with no heads or tails visible. Service was a little slow, however, they were very busy. I would certainly go there again.

I visited this pub/restaurant for a solo business meal. The staff were some of the friendliest, most welcoming restaurant staff I have ever encountered. The lady who I assumed was the manager treated me like a member of her family and could not do enough for me! Grace, who was waiting on my table was very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. They said I would be back and they were right - I’ll definitely be going back here. The atmosphere was so cosy and welcoming!

Living in the village, it’s so nice to have such a great pub on our doorstep. We have been several times since the new management and refurb and it’s always been excellent. Our meal last night was the best one yet - cooked really well, generous portions and arrived pipping hot. Staff are always super nice and attentive also.

If you can sit in the garden area it's beautiful. The service was spot on, really quick to take your drink order and bring it out. I had the roast, probably the nicest gravy I've had, you can get extra Yorkshires for free but the meal was huge. Friend had fish and chips, massive fish and loads of chips. It's about £17-£18 for a main and £10 a starter. Definitely need to book if you're going before 3pm at weekends.

Really nice Sunday roast. We were served by Camdyn and she was so lovely! We mentioned my Mum’s birthday as a passing comment, Camdyn remembered and brought out a candle in the dessert. Such a lovely thought! Thank you for a great afternoon :)

My friends and I were exploring the countryside and ended up at Mandira’s Kitchen for a quick lunch. We were so excited to find an Indian restaurant which we heard England is so well known for. The food was excellent and the staff was incredibly friendly and hospitable. Claire especially made our experience so special. Will definitely recommend to future travelers or if I am ever back in the area!

We have been here a handful of times now and taken various people who have all enjoyed it. A lovely area outside with great food, everyone always has the Chicken Biryani and we highly recommend this dish! Such a nice place to bring friends and family! The new added barn looks nice too if you would rather sit inside

Mandira’s Kitchen is definitely unique - who would expect authentic Indian food served in a barn overlooking a pond in rural Surrey? However that’s all part of the charm. You can instantly tell the place is a labour of love - the decor, the super chirpy staff, the slick branding. It all just hits the bullseye. The menu is to the point and offers, in my view, a perfect Indian lunch (plus plenty of novelty for those used to ‘regular’ Indian restaurants in this part of the world). Faultless.

Our visit to Mandira’s Kitchen at Silent Pool was amazing. Claire’s welcome and her guidance through the menu was exceptional, and we felt very much at home. The staff team were all friendly and ensured we were well looked after. We had a selection of “small plates” to experience the rich tapestry of authentic Indian cuisine, fresh and full of aromatic flavours. We sat outside on the terrace overlooking the pool. It was the high point of the day, and a wonderful experience. Highly recommended - and we look forward to returning when back down in Surrey. Jon and Karen

Great old pub, fish and chips were perfect. Also had the Scotch egg and Cider, and for dessert the sticky toffee pudding with double cream is a must, so be sure to save room!

Nice country pub serving food. Suday lunch was good. Sounds like the vegetarian/vegan option is a wellington but the contents of it changes by week. When I visited it was curried sweet potatoes with some other vegetables inside. It was delicious with just a subtle curry spice that went well with the traditional trimmings. It's always a bit disappointing to find that the sides - stuffing, cauliflower cheese etc don't have a vegan alternativebut otherwise the food was good!

A lovely off the beaten track pub that's a clear hit with the locals. The trio of roasts was great, a good portion, reasonably priced at around £20, but would recommend adding a few sides. Only let down was the children's portion sizes-cost. The pictured sausage and mash.....£8.50. Far too much for a single sausage and meager scoop of mash.

Fantastic food and service, all roasts come with unlimited roast potatoes and Yorkshires . We were so full we didn't even get pudding. Waitress was so polite and helpful, made the experience for us. Lovely cosy vibe with enough space at each table. Will definitely be back in 2025 for more.

Absolutely outstanding high end pub in the Surrey Hills. The food was absolutely outstanding, the outdoor seating area really open and lovely and the staff super attentive. Our first visit but we are already planning our next.

Very cute countryside pub. Had a great Sunday roast and walk around the village. The veggies and potatoes were particularly tasty.

A great find, and a must-do if you’re staying at Wotton House or exploring the Surrey Hills. The manager was great in particular, conversational and funny. The staff were polite and attentive, food came out quickly and overall food was great too. The vibe is good. Cosy, but not sleepy. Modern and quality feel all round. Highly recommended!

What a fantastic country pub! I have been here a couple of times now and the food, service and atmosphere is really great. The Sunday roasts are good, we made sure we booked a table though as it gets busy. Inside there are many restaurant tables and a cosy bar area with a fireplace. The toilets were clean. There is also outdoor seating for the summer months, plus free parking available at the back. The staff are very friendly and polite, and the service is good. If you're looking for traditional pub food I would highly recommend The Wotton Hatch. If I lived more local I would be eating here every weekend!

Very good Sunday lunch. Vegetables with the various roasts were cooked well. Nothing felt tired. Fresh and plentiful. Between the four of us we had lamb, beef, pork and a vegetarian option that satisfied us all respectively. Lots of space between tables so it didn't feel over crowded. An open fireplace near the bar.

Had the 10oz steak (£31) which was tasty, but it didn't come with the caramelised Roscoff onion as per the menu. We also sent back the sticky toffee pudding because it had vanilla ice cream vs the billed ginger ice cream. The atmosphere was nice. Very dark where we sat. Lots of dogs around. They asked for a deposit because people leave without paying. Might try it again one day.
