“Following my husband’s cancer treatment last year, we downsized to a bungalow to make our lives easier. As it turned out, we started a three-month journey through hell as we discovered a rat infestation in the loft the day after we moved in. The first ‘expert’ we called laid poison and set 3 traps. He came back the following week and took the traps away, telling us that we might have to have the drains looked at – but he couldn’t do that. First £240 wasted. When we begged, he came back and removed one dead rat. The second was a little better, came with lots of advice about what should be done – but was limited in what he could do. By this time, I’d done some research and called Pest Interceptors. We were desperate for someone who could help. It was a long five hour journey for them to come, in bad weather, but they did. It was the first time we’d had any confidence that the problem could be solved. Christan and Rick were brilliant and identified an entry point from the sewers. They fitted one-way valves which cut off a major entry point. They also discovered a cluster fly infestation in the loft and dealt with this, giving advice about how these horrible insects tend to return so offered some advice about preventing this for the future. They said that this was one of the worst infestations they had seen and had probably been going on since our bungalow was built in 1954 – not an accolade we aspired to! Christan gave us some good advice about what to look for next if it turned out there were other entry points and also who to contact to clear the loft of all the droppings, carcasses and badly contaminated insulation. He also went above and beyond and responded to my messages while he was on holiday. Both Christan and Rick genuinely care about all their customers. 3.5 months later, we’ve had the loft cleared and chosen an alternative insulation in the rafters rather than fibrous insulation between the joists – a nice little cozy duvet for rats. Our insulators were brilliant and grilled entry points in the roof before insulating. We are just waiting for our electrician to come and sort out the dodgy, gnawed wiring now. We’re optimistic that we’ve eliminated the rats – but, with Christan’s advice, we’ll be keeping a close eye on things. As the blighters have been calling our loft a home for 70 years – we need to be vigilant. If you’ve got a rodent problem – call these guys first. They take action fast and give great advice on any roofing or building work that needs doing.”
