Excellent service and good food, traditional breakfast was awesome.

I love this cafe. It's up at Greenslate Farm. It is such a lovely little community farm that you can visit to mooch or volunteer at. Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming. The cafe is homely. There are plenty of tables with a decking area if the weather is nice. I had analysis day breakfast with was delicious, and others had a toasties and jacket potato. They also offer lovely deserts too. All the food was tasty and fresh and reasonably priced. You can see the chef working too, which is nice. It's a lovely place to visit xxx

We visit the Strawbale cafe regularly. It’s a little bit quirky but that’s part of its charm. The menu isn’t extensive but the food is reasonably priced, freshly made and tasty. The staff are always friendly and very welcoming. The success of the place is clearly evident from its popularity. Sometimes you struggle to get a table! There is an outdoor seating area but of course that’s not always ideal given our inclement weather. Recommended.

What a lovely afternoon we had at the cafe. Food and drinks were served and presented so beautifully by attentive staff. The whole atmosphere was relaxed, homely and friendly. I shall definitely visit again with friends and my dog.

What a lovely place! Sat outside in the covered area back in autumn (only just got round to reviewing). Friendly staff. Good menu. Bought a gift from the nice little shop too. Large parking area. Recommend.

One of our favourite places to go for lunch. The coffee here is always really good and I definitely recommend. The food is always tasty with a good selection to pick from, and the outside seating is much better than you'd expect, covered with heaters spread throughout.

What a lovely little cafe . I only had a coffee and teacake, so I can't comment regards food. But the atmosphere was lovely. The staff too were super friendly. Will definitely go back again for lunch this time. A lovely little shop attached to it.

Update on my earlier review this year........ Staff so friendly and welcoming. Service could not be any better. Quality of drinks & food 😋 👌 I will be leaving Wigan shortly. Definitely miss this place. But guys, don't take my word on it, go there and enjoy............

Bit awkward at first, stood at the door because it said please wait and no one came to see to us. Sort of wandered in and had to butt into the servers conversation to ask if they were doing food and where we could sit. But the food was gorgeous and generous quantities for the price. The servers were lovely, beautiful modern place with a relaxed atmosphere. Decent WiFi and plug sockets by the tables. Might be a good place to get a bit of work done with a coffee. Will be coming back. Thank you

A lovely place to have a coffee after or before a train journey as it is perfectly placed for both Wigan stations. Enjoyed my flat white in a medium cup . Quick and friendly service plus free wi fi.

Absolutely amazing little coffee shop. Nice and chilled atmosphere, with relaxing music in the background. Service was superb, I requested something that they don't usually do, and the barista made it to perfection 👌

Friendly welcoming staff. Served a proper cup of coffee. Range of plant based milks. Vegan food options and brownies. Comfortable interior, well worth the 30 second stroll down from Market Place. And handy parking right on the door step.

My friend and me visited for the 1st time today. And we felt so welcome. Stayed for 2 drinks each. So comfortable. I had a caramel slice which was delicious. My friend had a brownie slice. Which I could see had big chunks of chocolate in it.

Well I wasn't expecting that! Came in for quick coffee and almost decided not to have a bite to eat when i saw the prices... but glad I did. They went out their way to make a ham and cheese toastie At first I thought it was a tad expensive until it arrived... lovely side salad with plain crisps and plain vinegarette. Even the chocolate on the cappuccino was lovely. Definitely recommend the Gates.

Amazing little place for a coffee and some food. Loved their fresh soup of the day. Amazing flavour and great price. The service was excellent, the staff are really kind. Will highly recommend. Plan on come back more often.

Dropped by on spec as we were passing through Wigan. Staff very friendly, lovely atmosphere. We ordered cappucinos and toasties. Coffee was smooth and delicicious, toasties were fresh and tasty. I noticed a couple who had ordered a cream tea. It looked amazing. I particularly noticed the support for people with autism which is excellent, as well as being so doggie friendly. Also, they support local crafters too. All in all a 10/10 experience. Sorry I don't live closer. Thank you for making it a such a lovely experience

Great little coffee shop / foody place / bar. Quality furnishings, quirky layout with the old vault as a little side room. Laid back music. Didn't notice it at first while passing along the street - could do with a brighter sign to capture passing trade more. Just stopped for a coffee, was nice, could do with updating the price list to show extra costs like almond milk etc.

Came on my own on a recommendation from my barber. So glad I did! Nice coffee and the Australian Bagel was amazing 👌 Lay out is really good and the decor is lovely. Looking forward to coming with others.

It is my favourite place to go and have brunch especially during weekends. They serve breakfast till 2.45 pm. It's a must visit place. Their food is amazing. I usually end up ordering their soup of the day , cheese toast with eggs, skin on fries and, iced coffee. The quantity they provide is really good. It fills you up really well. The food is delicioussssss. I've also tried their vanilla shake as well as their strawberry milkshake. They are all too good. So plz visit and show them some more love. The ambience is also great.

Got a fab baked potato with tuna and salad. Delicious - I'm dieting so it was just right for me - but ask for more mayo if you like it creamy.

Called today, sadly only for coffee, as the food looked amazing. Turns out my son has been on several occasions and in his words, a hidden gem. Will definitely be back for food. Staff friendly too 😁

Wednesday 17th January 2024 , 10.30am . What a jewel in the crown , this lovely cafe is . Opposite the entrance to , Wigan Wallgate station . Every member of staff excelled , a lovely warm welcome and fantastic service from all of them . I chose the mega breakfast , which was exceptional value . And my little dog who was made very welcome , enjoyed a sausage treat . Again many thanks to you all

I recently arranged a lunch for 17 colleagues here. Hideout were very flexible with us as there were a lot of last minute changes to the order but the food was exceptional and service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend!

We booked a window table for two on good Friday.. it was mad busy because of the rugby. The atmosphere was great, really nice friendly team. The food was tasty and most of all quality, reasonably priced too. Highly recommend. We will be back. Thank you.

Lovely little cafe with very friendly staff. Nice decor and very clean, including the toilets. The coffee was very good, certainly better than the franchises and better priced too. I didn't eat, so don't know how it tastes, but the pizzas looked very good. All in all a great experience, definitely recommended.

If you’re looking for a hidden gem in Wigan, look no further than Hideout. I walked in expecting your average pub experience, but what I got was nothing short of a culinary adventure! First off, the cheese board was fantastic. I’m pretty sure the cheeses were handpicked by angels. Each bite transported me to a whimsical dairy wonderland. I could’ve sworn one of the cheeses winked at me. If you’re lactose intolerant, I suggest you reconsider your life choices and dive headfirst into this cheesy paradise. And then there was the wine. Oh, the wine! I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the best wine I’ve ever had. I could practically hear the grapes singing as they made their way to my glass. It was like drinking liquid happiness. If I could bathe in it, I would—though I’m pretty sure that’s frowned upon in public places. Now, let’s talk about Ste, the barman. This guy deserves an award, preferably one shaped like a bottle of wine. He’s not just pouring drinks; he’s crafting liquid magic. He recommended the perfect wine to go with my cheese board, and I’m convinced he has a sixth sense for what will make your taste buds dance. Overall, Hideout is a must-visit. Just be prepared: the cheese may steal your heart, the wine may take your soul, and Ste might just become your new best friend. Go for the cheese, stay for the magic—just don’t tell anyone I said that!
