4 Heatons replaced our roof in March. We are very happy with the work carried out and felt at ease from start to finish. We were kept informed of progress throughout and the job was completed on time despite the snow! We chose 4Heatons due to John taking the time and effort to look at the roof properly on the first visit to diagnose the problems. Big thanks to John, Kirsty and the team. Would not hesitate to recommend.

I had a possible attempted break in and couldn't close my window. I called John and he is really busy but still found the time to come and fit new hinges for me.
Hes professional, worked to a good standard and he's an honest genuine guy.

Used John a couple of times now for various Jobs!he is honest and fair with his recommendations… doesn’t go with the usual line of… ‘you need everything replacing’ and repairs only what needs repairing.
Lads work fast, great quality of work- very reasonable price. Highly recommended John for any roofing repairs and new roofs.

We had 4 Heatons Windows and Roofing to fit 3 roof windows in June 2023. I'd contacted them as they were recommended by a neighbour. Both John and Kirsty were very friendly and helpful.

We discussed the various options when John came along to measure up and selected our preferences in the Velux brochure to be sent to Kirsty for preparing a quote. This all went smoothly, although there was some confusion about a few things she forgot to include in the quotation and the price changed a few times.

June 6th John and his 3 workmen showed up with the windows to install them over the next 3 days. The first window was a bit of a challenge as Velux had included a new (insulation) part they hadn’t accounted for, hence they had to resize the roof opening to fit it. The insulation hence looked a little scruffy as a result, but the other 2 windows looked fine.

The second window (nobody told me – I found out afterwards) had some damage, which I showed John afterwards. This was more or less brushed aside by explaining to me that these windows are quite heavy and hence a challenge to fit in. I fully understand, but we are paying good money for 3 new windows, not damaged ones. No compensation nor a good will gesture was offered (disappointing and a missed opportunity I think).

As the widows look lovely, don’t leak and provide a lot of light into the roof space we are quite happy with the work.

A few areas that I want to highlight and warn for (I will certainly do this next time) are the following:
*) At least one of the workmen was smoking (outside), but left cigarette buds on the drive and the garden. Not something I appreciate – why not put these in the bin..??
*) The scaffolding was £200 more then originally quoted. I was asked to pay them directly, so I wouldn’t have to pay the 20% VAT and this would prevent paying more. More concerning to me was the implication that they charge 20% VAT on top of everything, meaning they’ve ordered the velux windows (over £2,000!!) and charged me 20% VAT on top of that – I could have saved myself a lot of money ordering them myself. In future I will ask for a fully detailed quote so I can see exactly what I’m paying for. I feel this was poorly communicated.

I do like the cleaning up the mess in the attic space afterwards, thank you for that. The external finish is great and no leaks (so far), even during the recent downpours.

I will consider them for future work, but will request more detail regarding the quote, as well as a competitor quotation. I would have given them 3.5 stars, but this isn’t possible, hence I’ve generously given 4 Heatons Windows and Roofing 4 stars.

4 heatons have been great to deal with, John was able to help with some maintenance of old and broken window hinges. The price was fair and it was a far better option than replacing the windows. Thanks, will be in contact for more work in the future.
