Such a treat to celebrate a friend's birthday here. We ordered a meat platter for four and it was absolutely massive; more than enough food! It was really delicious, although some of the meats were slightly on the salty side so be aware if you're sensitive to that. Otherwise, we had such a great time and we were also given boxes to takeaway the leftovers which was a huge bonus!

An absolutely incredible dining experience. We were welcomed by the most friendly staff, who made us feel right at home and were ready to answer our questions straight from the outset. They had humour and whit to match any good comedian. When it came to deciding, they were fantastic at helping navigate our choices, bringing some more of that humour and whit, giving us an already incredible dining experience before the food even came our way. And when the food did come, it matched everything they hyped it to be (and more!). Incredible flavours, amazingly served, adventurous and creative in not only unique recipes (certainly we've never seen things like this elsewhere) but also in their whole food experience crated by presentation and staff. Basically, go! Get yourself there for lunch, for dinner, or any other food reason, you won't regret it! It is meat haven, burger central, and full of fun and creative flavours and ideas!

Had Chicken Wings to Start and Pork Belly for Main. Brilliant Food, lovely service and the theme of US in an old English Pub is brilliant. Had a great meal with all the family.

Amazing food! Massive portions! Great value for money. Lovely service. Very friendly and helpful. Lots of different areas to sit so feels private and comfortable. Open log fires. Great atmosphere. I had the BBQ sharing platter for 2 people. It could easily have fed 3. Succulent meat. Extremely tasty. Highly recommend!

Service is truly brilliant. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Decor is lovely, cosy and welcoming. However food wasn't as great as we had hoped. Quite overpriced to for what we had. The rice bowl had too many conflicting flavours. The ceaser side was delicious but really just very expensive lettuce with tasty source. Short rib had great flavour and was beautifully smokey but a bit too fatty for our liking. Lovely venue just wish the food had been better

The Star
Petworth Rd, Wheelerstreet, Witley, Godalming GU8 5LU, UK | Pub P: 01483 355046
Rating: 4.5 (389) Price Level:
Food was nice enough. I had hake, crab and butter bean stew, and it was tasty. My mother had a steak but I had a piece and found it to be very salty. Also, she asked for medium, but it was pretty rare... Service was slow. The waitress was very nice and attentive, but once our order was placed, it took a long time for the food to arrive. It felt like an hour...it was not overly busy so I felt service was slow. Atmosphere...this is a pub that serves food, and it was moderately busy at the bar, and there was a guitarist performing, and the ambient noise was loud...we had to talk loudly across the table to be heard. It was not really what we wanted for our evening. As a group of 3 aged 80, 74 and 58 we are probably not the target audience for this type of establishment. At £140 for 3 mains, some bread and olives and a bottle of wine I felt the price was high. I live up north so this may just be the way of things in the south. The menu was quite varied with an emphasis on fish, and deciding what to have was tricky as there several appealing choices.

We had a fabulous lunch here on Saturday! The attention to detail and the level of cookery skills were very impressive. Tom, the manager, was super helpful and very friendly. The chicken was moist and perfectly cooked. The whole plaice on the bone was indulgent and yummy, and the poached trout salad was delicious! Overall, we had an excellent meal.

Incredible place! We couldn’t fault a single thing. All the staff were lovely and extremely inviting, especially the operations manager with the great banter! The decor was gorgeous and the roasts (pork and beef) were out of this world!! So flavoursome and cooked to perfection! Can’t wait to come back! Thank you team!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Straight in at Number One in my chart of, 'Best Sunday Roasts Ever'. Exceptionally good roast dinner. A side of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets is included in the price, so it offers really good value for money. The roast beef was medium rare and beautifully tender. The roast potatoes fluffy inside with a wonderfully crispy coating. The vegetables were all perfectly cooked as well. They really care about their food here. I understand now why we had to book. Highly, highly recommended. I'm still thinking about it days later! Superb.

Piazza Firenze - Godalming
Kings Mews, 28 High St, Godalming GU7 1DZ, UK | Italian Restaurant P: 01483 418675
Rating: 4.6 (490) Price Level:
Anniversary dinner for my wife & I with three friends. Everything was first class. From the ultra simple reservation (quick phone call, very efficient & lovely lady), to the service & food it was wonderful. We had 2 x buratta as a sharing starter then everyone's main dish was perfect taste & presentation. Really friendly non intrusive staff & a fair price with a free Limocello! Will certainly go back again.

It was a rather nice spot in the centre of Godalming. It's a great Italian serving fresh homecooked food and really good coffee. Popped in for a late lunch and really enjoyed the food. One slight issue was the server on his mobile phone . Most of the time, I'm not a big fan of that when one is supposed to be working. However, it didn't spoil the food.

A beautiful little restaurant with fantastic food and a very caring host. We planned to go for a small lunch for 2 and ended up having a full blown 3 course meal with drinks. It was all absolutely beautiful food, the plates were left clean! It was very affordable. The owner was so very kind and welcoming. He was polite, professional and made a fantastic coffee. I can't recommend enough. Wonderful place and we will be back to pig out again!

12 of us had our Xmas party here on Thursday evening. As ever the food was delicious and the service was excellent. All the team work together so well and make it all seem so effortless, which it clearly isn’t. We had meals ranging from pizza, pasta calves liver and lamb shoulder and all were cooked to perfection and served all at the same time. Amazing. Highly recommend.

Acorn Restaurant
10-14 Wharf St, Godalming GU7 1NN, UK | Mediterranean Restaurant P: 01483 427273
Rating: 4.7 (274) Price Level:
My personal experience of Acorn was fantastic. Went for the catalan bread to start/share which was unusual and interesting... Best described as a cross between a foccacia and a pizza. Main was the sharing hot seafood platter. This wasn't what I had in mind when I think platter. It's more a collection of seafood within a seafood bisque. Naming preconceptions aside it was DELICIOUS. perfectly cooked lobster scallops, monkfish and prawns in a rich seafood bisque bursting with flavour and rich intensity. It was outstanding. Desserts were a catalan version of pain perdu which was very pleasant. The tarte tatin was the better dessert for us though.. Bitter, sticky caramel balanced by the sweet apple heavy top. Served with a tangy and sweet whipped yoghurt. Service was very friendly and efficient. Chef likes talking to the customers which adds a very personal touch. Ambience slightly lacking but less to do with gwthw overall decor and lighting which was nice enough.. But more to do with the fact it was a midweek dinner and the restaurant was relatively empty. Although in my opinion it shouldn't be.. We had a terrific experience and will definitely come back again to try other dishes.

Coming to this restaurant was a brilliant experience and now this place is our favourite place to go to for a steak in the area. All the food that we ordered was brilliant, but the highlight of our meal was a tomahawk - perfect cut of meat cooked exactly as we liked it. The staff was very friendly and nice and had great recommendations for the wine, and the chef came out to greet us and chat to us throughout the meal which was an extra bonus The place itself is very cozy and cute and it’s easy to find parking

First time at Acorn Restaurant, and I wish we could have attend it much sooner! Exceptional food and service. Instead of having a regular practice of starting off the dinner with the starters and the main, we were advised to have a “flight” with the selections of starters. Indeed a valuable advise, and our experience was more than delightful. High quality food, and very reasonably priced for the quality of food that exceeds many respectable businesses in London. We will be coming back to explore the rest of the menu, and will be excited for every upcoming specials. Thank you!
Rating: 5 / 5
An absolute gem of a restaurant, the food was top notch, super fresh and really varied but with a lovely Spanish flavour running throughout. The seafood options were excellent and I’d highly recommend it for that alone. Not cheap but fairly priced in my opinion for the quality you get. Service was relaxed but attentive and recommendations were readily given, clearly there are a lot of regulars too which is no surprise!
Rating: 5 / 5
I understand that it’s Spanish fusion but I wished they didn’t put too much of chorizo flavour as my choice of the menu were v limited. I don’t eat pork. So I had gambas for starter and the hot seafood as a main. It was too much of almost the same thing except of course the main was a bigger portion with lobster and fish in it. The staff serving us were friendly and polite. Cosy deco.

New year's dinner for 24? No problem. Good food (hot and all served more or less at the same time without error). Pleasant service at the bar and table service (Tony?). Nice selection of drinks. Dog friendly. One more potato next time please.

My family attended a table for the Boxing day festive menu at Heaven's kitchen. We were all very impressed with the level of customer service. Our waiter was attentive, efficient and also had a great humor and made us laugh. The food was delicious!! Fabulous dishes and the price was extremely reasonable. It was most of our first time visiting here and we will definitely be back.

Stopped en route to London for a quick meal and had the most fantastic experience at this pub. We were greeted by Dave who couldn't have done more to make our two children feel more welcome. The children's menu was the best they have ever seen, and high praise from our youngest who said it was the best beef burger she has ever had. As well as the usual kids meals they offer much more variety like ribs or steak, all for £10 inc dessert. Outside is a huge play park. Location is perfect if your passing, less than a minute detour from the A3. Highly recommend this pub, and I would suggest to the management that Dave should have a pay rise!

Very nice food! The set lunch menu is good value. Service could be quicker, however I would still come back.

Driven past loads of times but never been in before. Pleasantly surprised. It is deceiving big inside with a separate restaurant and bar area. A beautiful garden with pod like structures which must be lovely to use in the summer. It a cold February day so we cozy up in the bar area. Lots of little areas with comfy chairs for just drinks or tables and chairs carefully placed in windows and not too close to other tables. We chose to eat in the bar, the only downside was you had to order yourself at the bar. The bar area was lovely and quiet with a fire roaring in the hearth. A lovely bubbly older lady saw to us and settled us at a window table. She really did add to the ambiance of the place. The service, price and food was really good. We opted for the two course lunch menu and it was really tasty, hot and well presented. In hindsight we chose the bar area to dine and we were pleased with our choice. When we left the restaurant was incredibly busy and the noise levels were certainly higher than the tranquility of our table in the bar. Would we come again? Most definitely.

Lovely pub-restaurant for meeting up with friends and family. Appealing menu. Great atmosphere and although the place was completely full with big parties, food and drinks were served promptly. We had an issue with one of the dishes which was resolved well. Cosy in winter and outside space for summer days. Some areas could do with a lick of paint (doors to loos)

The Stag on the River
Lower Eashing, Eashing, Godalming GU7 2QG, UK | Restaurant P: 01483 421568
Rating: 4.4 (1377) Price Level:
Little scenic spots on the riverside over this old mill. Warm hut with cover seating available, with complimentary blankets and above heaters for chilly nights, small bar inside with all the favourite and popular spirits and some exclusive brands unseen anywhere else. The stag, always features a top notch menu , when passing through the south east we always pop by as we love and enjoy everything the stag offer and the staff are always so kind and welcoming. They also have limited luxury rooms however we have never stayed.

Wonderful Sunday lunch with friends. Roasts were delicious and service was top notch. Especially loved the crumble. would have liked a bit more custard however, I asked for more and it wasn't a problem, the very friendly manager brought some over, We will definitely be returning.

I stopped here for a romantic meal with my partner. The atmosphere was fantastic - Traditional pub meets unpretentious luxury. The location was stunning, we ate on the bank of the river with the gentle sound of flowing water in the background. The service was prompt, friendly and competent. BUT THE FOOD!.. was truly excellent! We shared the 22oz steak and I can honestly say it was one of the best steaks either of us had ever had. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a special night out or just a relaxing Saturday afternoon with friends. Maximum stars from me 🌟

Had an excellent Christmas meal with my Family today! Due to the storm and a power outage our original booking at their sister pub couldn’t be fulfilled. The Swan Inn team kindly hosted us and we were able to have a family meal before some of us leave the country for Christmas. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. A really lovely pub that feels so cozy with the warm fire and wonderful decor. Highly recommend and thanks again to the team for hosting us last minute.

First visit to meet a friend. Very busy as it was December but a welcoming fire was almost the first thing we saw. There was an a la carte or a festive menu to choose from. The soup of the day and fishcakes were lovely and service was great. It will be our new favourite place to meet

The Withies is an old haunt of mine when living in the area - this was a visit with friends for dinner. Good service and good food but thought the pub looked a little tired. Understand it is now up for sale after years in the same ownership. I shall be back!
