Lovely birthday surprise meal. The food and wine were just amazing. Great menu... Difficulty make a decision because it all sounded lovely. Mixed up with sushi as starters and a delicious hake main. Service is really good and all staff are very friendly.

Every dish was thoughtfully crafted, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable, with the staff being attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. My partner and me experienced Moma for the first time and definitely will not be the last. Everything from the food to the service and the restaurant itself was superb. The food was full of flavour. We will be returning soon . Lovely evening.

Fantastic food in a lovely setting. 4 of us booked lunch and the starter was amazing. However the waiter was too surly and unhelpful with our friend.

Vicky's Brasserie
10-12 Petworth Road Haslemere, Surrey, Haslemere, London GU27 2HR, UK | Restaurant P: 07950 589526
Rating: 4.9 (95) Price Level:
All the dishes were delicious. From starters to dessert. The cabbage rolls, the goulash pancake, the chicken shashlik and the chimney cake being the main highlights. All of it felt and tasted home cooked with good quality ingredients. We cannot wait to return and try more of their menu. The restaurant environment is very cozy and all the staff are kind and efficient. Well worth the drive or train ride to the beautiful village of Haslemere. You can't find this cuisine easily and it is a welcome change from the usual dinner options in the region.
Rating: 5 / 5
Our first, but not last visit to Vicky’s. If you haven’t tried it yet then you must. Don’t expect your food served quickly, dishes are prepared individually and cooking takes time, sit back, enjoy the company, drink in the decor and savour the ambience. Everything about our lunchtime visit was delightful.
Rating: 5 / 5
Brilliant local spot! Went for lunch with the family on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to see that they do their full dinner menu at lunchtime! Personally had the vegetable noodle soup to start and the Chicken Shashlik with the avocado salad, both of which had very generous portion sizes and very delicious! Extremely friendly and helpful staff who were very accommodating to one of our party who is in an electric wheelchair. 5/5 stars, definitely will be going again!

We had a gorgeous meal here mid week. Food is delicious especially if you've been out exploring the South Downs and want something yummy and full of flavour. Excellent, friendly service.

Not eaten here before, but was tempted by the Hungarian theme. Although I hadn't booked they went out of their way to make a space for me even though it was busy. The food was really nicely presented and tasted delicious. I wasn't rushed at any point and had a very relaxing lunch. Thanks guys!

Dog and Pheasant
Haslemere Rd, Brook, Godalming GU8 5UJ, UK | Pub P: 01428 682763
Rating: 4.5 (579) Price Level:
Visiting relatives who live in the local area and decided to have lunch at the Dog and Pheasant. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent, I had the Roast Chicken Supreme (with a beer to wash it down😁). The service (provided by Andy) was attentive but not overbearing, top marks! The pub is warm/cozy, dog friendly and clean. Set in the good location and plenty of onsite free parking. Would thoroughly recommend and will return to try out more of the menu. 10/10

Dropped in to this lovely pub for lunch after a hike in the area today, and very glad we did! The staff and landlord were all extremely friendly and helpful. My wife and I had the Venison, bacon and mushroom pie from the 'specials' board and the Chicken Supreme with gnocchi in a tarragon and mushroom sauce. Both were delicious! My only disappointment was the fact that there was only one portion of the fantastic sticky toffee pudding left...which we obviously had! We loved that...but also enjoyed the fudge brownie. Thanks chef and the team. Although we live about 30 miles away, we're likely to be back! I imagine the barmaid will have perfected that shamrock on the Guinness by then too! ;-)

Went for a last minute Sunday lunch for two, great staff, all very helpful and attentive, very good pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord. They managed to find us a table, the pub was pretty busy, a good mix of drinkers and eaters with a good pub noise to warm the atmosphere. Fish and chips were good, lovely light batter and great chips. I just felt the whole place could do with a tidy up and maybe a lick of fresh paint, a small point for an otherwise decent pub. Would definitely go back.

The roast dinner here is sensational. We’ve tried many in and around Surrey and a lot are overrated. Here the portion is generous with incredible flavours. We need their red cabbage and gravy recipe - wow!! We’ll be back!! Staff are all super helpful and friendly too

The Merry Harriers
Hambledon Road, Godalming GU8 4DR, UK | Hotel P: 01428 682883
Rating: 4.5 (481) Price Level:
Amazing pub with rooms. We stayed in the Inn King Room number 2. Big cosy bed, small bathroom with powerful shower. Dinner and breakfast outstanding. The pheasant pie was incredible to share - most perfect pastry I’ve had! Cosy pub with fire and very friendly staff. Highly recommend for a getaway, lots of walks right from the door.
Rating: 5 / 5
Excellent Meal this Christmas with the family. The atmosphere as always was cozy and welcoming and generally great vibes. The food was incredible. The decision to have appetisers before the meal was sound as they were really rather special. The bubble and squeak croquettes were just a job. The service was friendly and attentive and would highly recommend this for a family get together celebration

Came for Sunday dinner and it was one of the best! Very cosy but sophisticated interior with lovely, personable staff and delicious food. Everything tasted amazing and portions were generous. Delicious wine served perfectly - will definitely return especially on a sunnier day.
Rating: 5 / 5
We did not stay at the Merry Harriers but dined there. It was my wife's birthday and we decided to go there as we had had previous good experiences at the Hilltop Kitchen. We were not disappointed. The quality of the food was excellent as they only use fresh, preferably local, produce. The service was brilliant as the staff were professional and friendly. There is a cosy atmosphere with a log fire in the bar area. Special mention to Adam, Jana and Ben who made our visit special.
Rating: 5 / 5
Really great quality food and an overall great place to eat, drink and relax. Not cheap but well worth the money. Book early as its a busy place. The Sunday roasts and Scotch eggs are 10/10. Lots of nice walks nearby too.

The White Horse
22 High St, Haslemere GU27 2HJ, UK | Pub P: 01428 661276
Rating: 4.5 (632) Price Level:
We had not eaten in the pub for a long time, and were enticed in with the 50% January main meal discount. It turned out to be a great evening and we ended up eating a three course meal, and coffee. Loved the jazzy background music, the food was absolutely excellent, and we had a great table and we ended up having a wonderful date night. What made it was the two male staff members waiting on out table, so were genuinely welcoming, and helpful. Highly recommend the Sea Bass!
Rating: 4 / 5
The white horse has had a great facelift in recent times making it a really nice place to go for a good meal and a beer. The food is at the good end of pub fayre and the hand pull beer has been excellent of late both in choice and the way it is served. The staff are great and the landlord particularly attentive. It can get busy at times and the focus is now on food; there has been a slight loss of its pub character as a result but the decor is very pleasant and the ambiance is great. Beer is monstrously expensive however and wine more so - expect at least £5.50-£7.00 a pint.

every time I come here, the staff are so lovely and welcoming, especially Dominic who's always asking if we're okay and everything is up to scratch. the food is exquisite and there's always something going on there.
Rating: 5 / 5
Really lovely meal with a nice friendly atmosphere. Massive thank you to both Dom & Pav for their hospitality. No photos of food as forgot to take some as it looked so good.... Another excuse to go back I suppose :). Highly recommend.

We took my Mum for lunch on Saturday to celebrate her 86th birthday. We were given a lovely table in front of the log fire. The pub was busy. The ambience was very friendly and welcoming. The food was good and the service very relaxed and attentive. They are dog friendly. Mum was even serenaded by the chef and two of the team - and presented with a lovely slice of cheesecake and a personal birthday message. Well done! We will be back. The White Horse is definitely the best option in the local area, for a quick drink and a snack or a full meal. Plus, the menu is very competitively priced.

The White Hart
Petworth Rd, Witley, Godalming GU8 5PH, UK | Pub P: 01428 683695
Rating: 4.7 (1132) Price Level:
An absolutely incredible dining experience. We were welcomed by the most friendly staff, who made us feel right at home and were ready to answer our questions straight from the outset. They had humour and whit to match any good comedian. When it came to deciding, they were fantastic at helping navigate our choices, bringing some more of that humour and whit, giving us an already incredible dining experience before the food even came our way. And when the food did come, it matched everything they hyped it to be (and more!). Incredible flavours, amazingly served, adventurous and creative in not only unique recipes (certainly we've never seen things like this elsewhere) but also in their whole food experience crated by presentation and staff. Basically, go! Get yourself there for lunch, for dinner, or any other food reason, you won't regret it! It is meat haven, burger central, and full of fun and creative flavours and ideas!
Rating: 5 / 5
Amazing food! Massive portions! Great value for money. Lovely service. Very friendly and helpful. Lots of different areas to sit so feels private and comfortable. Open log fires. Great atmosphere. I had the BBQ sharing platter for 2 people. It could easily have fed 3. Succulent meat. Extremely tasty. Highly recommend!
Rating: 5 / 5
Such a treat to celebrate a friend's birthday here. We ordered a meat platter for four and it was absolutely massive; more than enough food! It was really delicious, although some of the meats were slightly on the salty side so be aware if you're sensitive to that. Otherwise, we had such a great time and we were also given boxes to takeaway the leftovers which was a huge bonus!
Rating: 4 / 5
Service is truly brilliant. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Decor is lovely, cosy and welcoming. However food wasn't as great as we had hoped. Quite overpriced to for what we had. The rice bowl had too many conflicting flavours. The ceaser side was delicious but really just very expensive lettuce with tasty source. Short rib had great flavour and was beautifully smokey but a bit too fatty for our liking. Lovely venue just wish the food had been better

The Refectory
Old Portsmouth Road, Milford, Godalming GU8 5HJ, UK | Pub P: 01483 413820
Rating: 4.5 (1531) Price Level:
Brilliant meal, had eaten here before Christmas and were given an envelope for either 25%, 50% or 100% off the bill upon returning in Jan or Feb, brilliant idea and we got 25% off, great food in very good portion sizes. Will be back soon.
Rating: 4 / 5
Lovely building. Friendly staff. Tried some of the "nibbles" on the menu which were superb ! The mains were Crispy Beef on Salad with Cashews ( Excellent ) and A Quiche Lorraine which , my partner, felt was far too oniony for her tastes. Having said that, we enjoyed our experience and we will come back again soon.
Rating: 5 / 5
Very cosy and welcoming setting, we booked for a large group and staff was very nice (the wait was a bit long but we weren’t in any hurry) I recommend the steak pies with homemade crust 🥧

Acorn Restaurant
10-14 Wharf St, Godalming GU7 1NN, UK | Mediterranean Restaurant P: 01483 427273
Rating: 4.7 (274) Price Level:
First time at Acorn Restaurant, and I wish we could have attend it much sooner! Exceptional food and service. Instead of having a regular practice of starting off the dinner with the starters and the main, we were advised to have a “flight” with the selections of starters. Indeed a valuable advise, and our experience was more than delightful. High quality food, and very reasonably priced for the quality of food that exceeds many respectable businesses in London. We will be coming back to explore the rest of the menu, and will be excited for every upcoming specials. Thank you!
Rating: 5 / 5
An absolute gem of a restaurant, the food was top notch, super fresh and really varied but with a lovely Spanish flavour running throughout. The seafood options were excellent and I’d highly recommend it for that alone. Not cheap but fairly priced in my opinion for the quality you get. Service was relaxed but attentive and recommendations were readily given, clearly there are a lot of regulars too which is no surprise!
Rating: 5 / 5
I understand that it’s Spanish fusion but I wished they didn’t put too much of chorizo flavour as my choice of the menu were v limited. I don’t eat pork. So I had gambas for starter and the hot seafood as a main. It was too much of almost the same thing except of course the main was a bigger portion with lobster and fish in it. The staff serving us were friendly and polite. Cosy deco.
Rating: 5 / 5
My personal experience of Acorn was fantastic. Went for the catalan bread to start/share which was unusual and interesting... Best described as a cross between a foccacia and a pizza. Main was the sharing hot seafood platter. This wasn't what I had in mind when I think platter. It's more a collection of seafood within a seafood bisque. Naming preconceptions aside it was DELICIOUS. perfectly cooked lobster scallops, monkfish and prawns in a rich seafood bisque bursting with flavour and rich intensity. It was outstanding. Desserts were a catalan version of pain perdu which was very pleasant. The tarte tatin was the better dessert for us though.. Bitter, sticky caramel balanced by the sweet apple heavy top. Served with a tangy and sweet whipped yoghurt. Service was very friendly and efficient. Chef likes talking to the customers which adds a very personal touch. Ambience slightly lacking but less to do with gwthw overall decor and lighting which was nice enough.. But more to do with the fact it was a midweek dinner and the restaurant was relatively empty. Although in my opinion it shouldn't be.. We had a terrific experience and will definitely come back again to try other dishes.
Rating: 5 / 5
Coming to this restaurant was a brilliant experience and now this place is our favourite place to go to for a steak in the area. All the food that we ordered was brilliant, but the highlight of our meal was a tomahawk - perfect cut of meat cooked exactly as we liked it. The staff was very friendly and nice and had great recommendations for the wine, and the chef came out to greet us and chat to us throughout the meal which was an extra bonus The place itself is very cozy and cute and it’s easy to find parking

White Horse
The St, Hascombe, Godalming GU8 4JA, UK | Pub P: 01483 208258
Rating: 4.5 (642) Price Level:
We had our Christmas 2024 lunch here at The White Horse and the whole event was superb! The atmosphere inside the pub was very Christmassy and everyone was very chilled. The food was excellent, really, really first class and the service was wonderful. What more can I say? We all had a fantastic time and this was our second Christmas-time running so that must say a lot about how good the place is.
Rating: 5 / 5
Loved it at The White Horse again. Been coming here for 4 years but it went through a period in about 2023 where the food was not that great. But I’m happy to report that the food was excellent, and the service was superb too: attentive and proactive. Thank you Antonia for a lovely evening!
Rating: 5 / 5
My first visit to the White Horse but it will not be my last. It was a Tuesday lunchtime when I happened upon this pub. It looked welcoming from the outside and had a car park directly opposite (and another around the back apparently). I parked up and went inside. The pub was busy but not rammed so I took a stool and sat at the bar whilst I mulled over the good selection of ales and beers. It's a Youngs pub so I went for a pint of their 3.7% London Original which is a very quaffable session beer that slipped down a treat whilst I awaited the food I had ordered. I didn't have a long wait till it arrived and it was delicious. I look forward to trying something else on the menu. I went for open BLT sandwich which usually comes with fries (but I didn't want them on this occasion). Service came with a smile and I was made to feel very welcome. I shall be returning and have no hesitation it recommending it to others.

Christmas lunch at the White Horse Hascombe was great! Food was lovely and the service was great. We made the mistake of not preordering wine when we confirmed our menu choices and then discovered that there was quite a limited choice on the day. But we found something and it didn’t detract from our enjoyment. Well done to all at the White Horse.

A lovely country pub. Good, hearty food full of flavour and soul. Now stop looking at the menu and just order the Beef Bourguignon. It’s absolutely spectacular.
Rating: 4 / 5
Always a nice welcome and friendly staff and this lovely community-run local pub. In the summer we have enjoyed eating in the garden with its far reaching views. We have eaten here a few times and until now always had good food. But on this occasion the food was poor. The pie was swimming in gravy that lacked any flavour, it would also have been nicer to serve the gravy separately. Sadly the food was cold and had to be returned to the kitchen, the pub was not busy and it really seemed a shame that they missed the mark on this occassion. We also noted that the menu was not as interesting as it had been earlier in the year. I am hoping this was a 'blip' and that normal service will resume. We will give it another go sometime soon.
Rating: 5 / 5
Really glad we made our walkers lunch stop at this traditional pub in the pretty village of Thursley. Friendly, professional & welcoming staff. Real ale was well kept. Homemade sandwiches were tasty. Competitive prices. Live music on a Saturday afternoon was a real bonus! Would definitely visit here again.

Brilliant place with a fantastic view and a playground for little ones. Service is fantastic very attentive. Food was beautiful, I've order chicken nuggets for my daughter for £7.50, portion was huge, and the actual nuggets were large pieces od breaded chicken breast with cheddar inside. All portions were large and super tasty, they're using local produce from Secretts farm. Just beautiful. Great experience all throughout.
