Review of Kumon Ashford south I decided to register my children into Kumon to prepare them for school. To introduce them to learning within a group, and Kumon did not disappoint, but the real reward of Kumon came during the pandemic when we had to home school, my children found learning from home very easy as they are used to doing their kumon work daily at home. As the effects of the pandemic lingers on, I am confident that my children are still learning to their full potential as they continue to do their Kumon learning in addition to their school work.

Mary has been amazing with our son. Her firm but compassionate approach has not only improved his grades drastically but his confidence has rocketed. He no longer dreads English lessons at school which is an amazing difference. Mary has also always contacted me with guidance and advice along the way to know how to best help him and how to communicate with the school. We are so grateful, thank you Mary 😁😁😁

My children are really enjoying their classes with Mary. They find her explanations clear & easy to follow. They love the notes she takes during the class. This helps them concentrate during the lesson and go back over things afterwards when they need to apply what they have learnt. Mary has a great balance of being warm and friendly yet firm enough that the children listen and know they are to take their studies seriously if they want to progress and achieve. Mary really knows her subject so well and we feel very blessed for our children to be learning from such a great teacher.

I cannot recommend Mary highly enough. We originally asked her to help our son with English Language because we were concerned that his grades were continually falling over time. However, her tuition also helped improve his English Literature work in the process, and they ended up being his two highest GCSE grades. Mary was friendly and professional throughout and we could see a noticeable improvement in our son’s ability and confidence in the subject from the start.

Mary is an excellent tutor and I thoroughly recommend her.  My daughter has made wonderful progress since she started having lessons with her. Her own daughter was home educated and is currently studying at Cambridge University which highlights the standard of her teaching. Mary also has experience working with students who are dyslexic with great results.  I would not hesitate in choosing her to tutor my child.

Rita is such a lovely tutor, she took the time out of her day to make sure my daughter has the right work to complete and to ensure that she is getting the right tasks in order to do well in her gcses. With Rita my daughter was able to jump 2 whole grades which is a massive improvement. I could not recommend Rita enough, she is very good at what she does!

Vicky is such a talented tutor, my daughter had an English teacher at school that was focusing too much on the negative. She and my son had had lessons with Vicky before (in yr6) so I felt confident she’d be the perfect person to give my daughter (yr10) the boost she needed. She had weekly lessons with Vicky up until going through her GCSEs and the change in her attitude towards learning and also her confidence in her own abilities has been seriously dramatic in the last few months. Now she’s actually really looking forward to getting her GCSE results!! I’ve already put my son on Vicky’s list to give him a boost as he starts yr11. I’ll be forever grateful and can’t recommend Vicky enough, education is so important and Vicky teaches in a patient and empowering way!

Fiona Cameron was incredible from the very first introduction. She spent time listening to our daughter to better understand what her capabilities and interests were. Fiona modified her approach and teaching style to suit our daughter which paid dividends. As the weeks progressed the creative writing that was being produced was so incredibly powerful and descriptive. Fiona was great at sharing her enthusiasm for her subject and always encouraging and engaging. I think it was particularly helpful that Fiona made a point of showing how thrilled she was at the results of our daughter’s efforts. I’m pleased to say that as a result of everything our daughter achieved an incredible result. I can’t recommend Fiona more highly, a fabulous teacher and a gentle person to be around.

Vicky has been a fantastic tutor for my daughter for 8 years right up to her GCSE exams. She tailored her lessons to my daughter's needs boosting her confidence. Vicky also greatly helped my son by providing a couple of adhoc lessons to assist him with understanding some very difficult equations on his electrical course. As a result both passed their exams. I highly recommend and wish Vicky all the best.

Both my son and I were made to feel welcome on day 1. He went for the week long tutoring before the Kent test the week before the test itself. My son said he had a great time by the time Friday came and it didn’t feel like a school session at all they played games and had fun all through the week. After the test itself he stated he was so glad he had had this opportunity to practise as it made the test feel a lot easier. A weekly lesson has proved massively beneficial for my daughter. She started in September and, as I saw her confidence grow, and her Maths and English improve, we decided to continue for the rest of the school year. To our delight she was top in her year for maths homework, she was no where near this at the beginning. It was a real pinch myself moment! Her English too has improved, this extends into other subjects, making lessons all round better for her. She was not keen to go at first but as soon as she had her first lesson she was all in. My son is in Year 2 and has been attending Kip McGrath Ashford Kent for six months. He really enjoys going to Kip and loves the fact his learning plan is bespoke to him and that he earns Kip points for good work. I felt my son needed more of a challenge than what he was getting at school, and the learning plan Simon has put in place for him is now doing that. I think Simon is a great teacher and he has a great rapport with my son. I would definitely recommend Kip McGrath Ashford Kent.
