With Melissa's help, I learnt that despite my ignorance of gardens and plants, I have strong preferences, and Melissa translated my choices into a beautiful and elegant garden which is perfectly suited to the site and to our lifestyle. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours with Melissa in my garden. I arranged the consultation as we’re in the process of having new windows and doors fitted and I needed advice on the best way to prune back our existing planting close to the house to allow the work to be undertaken. As it turned out, this was the least of what we covered in those hours! I absolutely loved our time together and the consultation far exceeded my expectations. Melissa is extremely knowledgeable, a great teacher and very good fun! I’m keen to improve my own gardening skills and Melissa took the time to describe to me what she was doing and why, in the hope that I might be able to do it next time on my own. We agreed on a plan of works for the front of the house which will include several more ‘teaching’ visits over the next 6 months. Having made a plan for the front we moved on to a really enjoyable, visionary, creative conversation about the possibilities for our small yard garden at the back of the house. At the end of the 2 hours I felt totally inspired about the future of what is essentially quite a small and uninspiring space. No small feat! I also spent the rest of the weekend gardening. I’m really looking forward to Melissa’s great eye and superb knowledge influencing the shape of our garden over the next few years.

We really didn't know what to do with our small rear garden attached to a new build house. After reviewing numerous websites we chose MMGD. Initially we asked Melissa to provide a One Off Consultation /Garden Inspiration service. The meetings helped us to think through & define what we were were looking to achieve. Melissa worked closely with us to develop the ideas further via the Flash Planting Service. It was Melissa's vision & creativity that ensured our objective of an attractive, colourful garden providing a haven for wildlife, was delivered. We love the end result. Very good value for money.

Absolutely superb service and professionalism from HG Gardening, I can't recommend them highly enough. Punctual, reliable, efficient, excellent attention to detail and extremely good value for money. Please read on for a more detailed review: Our back garden needed a complete renovation. We were wanting a raised patio completely ripping out and having most of the garden on one level, a summerhouse tearing down and removing the flags from underneath, new turf laying, new fencing, a platform sloping down to the garden from the back door and a new porcelain tiled patio area... so a big job. We spoke to a few landscape gardeners and explained our vision for our garden and what we were looking for. Ben at HG Gardening was by far the most enthusiastic that we spoke to and we immediately felt that Ben understood exactly what we were after. Using his experience, sound knowledge and technical expertise he was able to offer advice and provide ideas that we hadn't thought of that we ended up going with (so happy that we did) and he assured us that what we wanted was do-able as he could fit a digger through our garage door to use for the removal of the patio (the biggest part of the job). Ben's quote was also the lowest price that we received, but I was assured that nothing was done on the cheap and only the best quality available materials would be used, as proved to be the case. Ben and his co-workers were extremely punctual, always turned up on-time and didn't stop working the whole time they were here. I can't believe how quickly the job was completed considering the work that needed doing. They were extremely polite, reliable, and efficient. We are absolutely overjoyed with the work that HG Gardening have carried out. Top quality and very high standard. My front and back gardens and driveway have just been completely landscaped by Dave and at DW Gardens. This project was extensive and took approx 4 weeks to complete. The work that Dave has carried out has been 1st class done in a timely manner, his workmanship integrity and honesty are hard to find these days. Very helpful, professional, and tidy. Dave advised a split level for our long sloping, overgrown, and bumpy lawn, provided estimates based on some concerns we had, and completed the work on time. He has transformed our garden from an untidy state to a very neat, usable, and level garden. Dave also tidied up as he went, keeping the patio and driveway clear, and cleaned it up after he wash finished. After the lawn had settled down he came and put the grass seed down. Highly recommend Dave, and we will be contacting him again when we need more help. He always advised of issues and provided us options to choose from.

Had Dave do my patio new steps and tidied up my drive well pleased with all the works nothing was too much trouble we kept adding jobs on and it wasn’t an issue just fitted us in when he could all jobs completed will definitely be using him in the future

Richard, Lottie and Andrew were incredible at taking on our garden full of stone, brick and artificial grass and clearing it all to create the beginnings of a beautiful garden. They came at a really difficult personal time, and their kindness, patience and absolute competence allowed the work to continue without stress. It was wonderful to know that we could completely trust their advice and helped us make decisions as the project went on. They also went above and beyond to clean up the masses of mud created through such a big clearance job. Just a massive thank you to Richard and the team :)

We were absolutely delighted with the superb job Richard Austin did in designing our beautiful new garden. He closely consulted with us throughout the process, listening carefully to all of our specific requirements - whether with regards to plants and features, or budget and timescales - and offered thoughtful guidance and expertise. Once the final designs were produced - during which time Richard regularly consulted with us and took in our feedback - Richard successfully project managed the hard landscaping which (due to geographical constraints) was outsourced to another firm. He himself then did a very fast, effective and highly professional job of the planting, sourcing the plants at the best quality and price. We have been delighted by the results, the garden never ceases to draw admiring comments from visitors and is getting progressively better as the years go by. Richard and his team transformed our overgrown space to a garden which always makes me smile whenever I see it. All the team were extremely professional and explained the process and helped us pick the plants which were low maintenance but ensure the garden looks beautiful all year throughout. Austin's Gardens were excellent when it came to designing, landscaping and planting my garden. Richard really listened to what I wanted, came up with imaginative ideas that fit my budget, and then delivered on time with work that was neat and professional throughout. Dean arranged for hedges and trees to be cut back behind a commercial office block. This was done speedily and professionally. Would recommend and use again!

I can not praise Dean enough, he has recently helped me out clearing out a very overgrown area and would not accept any payment for it. The quality of the work that he provides is always first class. Over the years he has done numerous jobs for myself and my family, he is always prompt, polite and very knowledgeable about all aspects of his business. He will always stay until the job is complete and leaves your property immaculate. Nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend him to anyone!!!!

We could not be more pleased with the work recently carried out by Josh Snowdon Landscapes. We had a plan and Josh (and Dave) made that plan a reality, transforming our bare new build patch into a garden space we can enjoy. We felt as a team Josh and Dave went above and beyond to ensure the finished space worked for us and was robust. Landscaping the ground left by the developers was occasionally challenging. Michael and the team listen to your requirements and come up with excellent designs. Doing the project was again faultless and timely. We have engaged the company again to do another project now 10 years down the line. Again Michael has been excellent and knowledgeable in suggesting ideas that will work for us. Our back garden was in desperate need of a makeover. It was tired looking and shabby. I decided it was time for a change and stumbled across Mick and I’m extremely glad I did. The entire process from design to completion has been excellent. To begin with, Mick provided us with several designs. The final design was an amalgamation of our favourite features from each design. He project managed the whole thing and was on site every day overseeing everything. This was so important as it meant we could go about our days without worry. Mick only works with the finest workmen to bring his designs to life and we are completely in love with our garden. Where we rarely ventured out into it before, we haven’t been out of it since it was finished. Mick has also recommended an electrician to install lighting and a gardener to add some planting. We cannot recommend him highly enough and I suggest you contact him as quickly as possible to utilise his talents.

What a fantastic experience from start to finish! Michael listened carefully to my design brief and captured perfectly what I wanted. His advice and knowledge on all things design and planting related was amazing and keeping him involved as project manager for the construction phase was worth every penny. Mick has been a pleasure to work with throughout the process. We came to him following a recommendation from a friend, to ask if he could help us come up with an overall design for our large back garden that we would be able to complete in sections as time and budget allowed. The design Mick has produced has completely exceeded our expectations and I can’t wait to get started! He has incorporated ideas we’d never have thought of and it’s great to have an overall scheme to work to that will ensure the garden has a cohesive theme. Jackson Garden Services have been working for myself for over 4 years now. The owner of the company is a fantastic grafter. He is friendly, punctual and his work is always perfect. Jackson GS have done various jobs for me over the years - taking up and erecting a high quality Astro turf in my previous home. More recently creating a safe, child friendly play area with high quality child safe bark for my two toddlers. As well as fortnightly maintenance work, mowing, weeding and anything else we need doing. We wouldn’t use anyone else. I don’t know anyone else with the same work ethic as Jackson’s GS!

I have a small to medium sized garden on a slope, a long list of things I want to do in the space and a relatively small budget - a triple challenge! I recently had the One Day Consultation with Sarah at North Leeds Garden Design. It was brilliant - a really useful morning spent going round our garden and talking through solutions to the various problem areas and Sarah sent through an incredibly detailed report after spending an afternoon back in the office. She came up with some great ideas for the garden and I've already implemented a couple of the simple ones. I don't normally do things like this but it was well worth the money - I now know where to spend money on the garden and what plants will work well in our soil, which will avoid wasting money in the future on unsuitable plants. I am also more confident about going forward with projects in the garden.

I recently had a One Day garden consultation with Sarah to give me some inspiration and advice on what to do with our garden (we’ve recently moved into a new build house with a fairly large garden area that we wanted to make the best of with some lovely planting while also making it kid friendly for our toddler and find space for a shed!). Sarah spent the morning with me thoroughly going through ideas for types of plants, positioning of plants, garden layout and helped with lots of problem solving too (as the garden space we have has a fairly challenging layout). It was a really enjoyable morning and I liked the collaborative approach that Sarah took, exploring my preferences at every point. From the morning’s session, Sarah produced a wonderfully detailed garden proposal for us and specific instructions for planting. Sarah’s plant knowledge is really impressive, she knew exactly what was best for our soil and the Yorkshire climate. As someone with minimal gardening experience, I now feel like I have a route forwards to creating a beautiful garden whereas before I didn’t know where to begin!! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend! First used this company a few years ago to revamp garden after building work. Sarah provided an amazing plan making sure all the areas most viewed from indoors were exciting and colourful. We now have a beautiful cohesive garden. We have been pleased to welcome Sarah back to our garden to enhance further areas which she has done with much success. Because she listens so carefully and then actually tries to fit our brief so closely it has been a very painless experience. Would not have known where to start to get what we had in mind - but now we have it! We are currently liaising with Sarah over a few tweaks and additions and as usual she has some brilliant ideas.
