A truly magical gem that surprises and delights. One of the most peaceful and restorative spaces I've had the pleasure to spend time in. This place couldn't fail to bring joy to all who visit. The sheer pleasure of being immersed in such a tranquil space can be seen on the faces of every single volunteer. It's a little escape from the hustle and bustle of life beyond the gate.

Visited here for the first time. What a beautiful garden with plants we've never seen before, a meadow with around 10 beehives, and a lovely cafe. A real gem, we will visit again next year. Cheers guys.

Visited the garden on 3rd September. Although it only has limited parking we had no problems finding a space. We were greeted at the entrance by a friendly and informative guide who gave us a brief overview of the gardens and amenities. As it was close to lunchtime the first stop was the cafe. This has a large seating both inside and in the garden. The food was good, we both had Paninies which were very good and at a good price. The facilities are spotlessly clean. You can visit the cafe without having to pay entry to the garden. The garden although is only 1 acre the design crams in so many small gardens and walkways it seems so much larger. The planting and hard landscaping is wonderful and is well worth the visit. Price is £7 which is very reasonable and even better is part of the gardeners world 2 for 1 ticket offer. The annual price is also a very cheap option at only .£30. There is also a shop and also plant sales again at reasonable prices. I would highly recommend a visit

York Gate is a delightful one-acre Grade II National Heritage Garden created by the Spencer family. It delights with a succession of linked gardens (or "rooms"as they are known) which take their design inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement and were developed thanks to the horticultural skills of its owner Sybil Spencer and developed between 1951 and 1994. Each individual "room" has its own beauty and interest, with a wealth of plants, shrubs and trees, some immediately recognisable, others much more exotic! There are several water features and unusual structures and stonework, a meadow with beehives plus varied and intricate pathways linking the different "rooms". I was fortunate to visit as part of a National Trust garden volunteer's group and had the benefit of a guided tour given by the affable and knowledgeable Head Gardener, who explained how the garden has evolved and continues to do so. There is also a cafe, shop and plant nursery on the site. It is most definitely worth a visit and cannot fail to impress and inspire!

After a season of neglect my garden was overgrown & desperately in need of attention. Ben replied promptly, they arrived at the arranged time as well. Job was carried out to a high standard. A job that would have taken me days, was completed in a few hours. Pruning, few feet of the hedge, a boundary of trees all cut back, weeding, edges reformed & tidying. All waste taken away. Now the garden looks amazing.

Our gardens were very overgrown with hedges, shrubs, fruit trees and conifers needing trimming/pruning. An excellent job was carried out and all cuttings were taken away leaving everywhere neat and tidy. All done quickly and at a good price. Would recommend and will be returning customers.

First used this company a few years ago to revamp garden after building work. Sarah provided an amazing plan making sure all the areas most viewed from indoors were exciting and colourful. We now have a beautiful cohesive garden. We have been pleased to welcome Sarah back to our garden to enhance further areas which she has done with much success. Because she listens so carefully and then actually tries to fit our brief so closely it has been a very painless experience. Would not have known where to start to get what we had in mind - but now we have it! We are currently liaising with Sarah over a few tweaks and additions and as usual she has some brilliant ideas. We really enjoy our garden now both viewed from inside the house as well as in this glorious leisure space. Very happy to reccomend this company.

I recently had a One Day garden consultation with Sarah to give me some inspiration and advice on what to do with our garden (we’ve recently moved into a new build house with a fairly large garden area that we wanted to make the best of with some lovely planting while also making it kid friendly for our toddler and find space for a shed!). Sarah spent the morning with me thoroughly going through ideas for types of plants, positioning of plants, garden layout and helped with lots of problem solving too (as the garden space we have has a fairly challenging layout). It was a really enjoyable morning and I liked the collaborative approach that Sarah took, exploring my preferences at every point. From the morning’s session, Sarah produced a wonderfully detailed garden proposal for us and specific instructions for planting. Sarah’s plant knowledge is really impressive, she knew exactly what was best for our soil and the Yorkshire climate. As someone with minimal gardening experience, I now feel like I have a route forwards to creating a beautiful garden whereas before I didn’t know where to begin!! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend! I have a small to medium sized garden on a slope, a long list of things I want to do in the space and a relatively small budget - a triple challenge! Sarah really listened and talked through all my ideas and came up with a brilliant design that incorporates lots of planting space for veg, herbs and flowers, a fruit garden, wildlife pond and seating area, whilst dealing with the slope and somehow making it seem bigger than before! It's a joy to be in and wows everyone who visits. Sarah was friendly, knowledgeable and professional and went the extra mile to help me. We have just had our front and rear garden plus our driveway completely remodelled by Wren fencing and landscaping. I am so pleased with what Luke and his team have done. Luke and his team did a fantastic job transforming our Victorian courtyard garden. We used the designed Marco who Luke recommended and the process was great. Everyone worked incredibly hard and Luke was very hands on and involved on a daily basis. We are absolutely delighted with the end result and I would recommend Wren without a second doubt.

John was excellent on the design, taking the time to understand our brief and coming up with a design that we were really happy with. There was clear communication throughout the process so we knew what was happening when. The Yorkshire Gardens team who did the work were brilliant. Very hard working (the build coincided with a long heat wave!) and very friendly. They didn't mind explaining what they were doing and accommodated a couple of tweaks here and there without complaint. We were delighted with the outcome and six months later that's still the case. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Yorkshire Gardens, particularly if you want the design and execution of a garden project.

Hands down the best landscaping design and installation professionals in this region, if not the UK. The team are very patient and attentive to every detail in the garden. Our garden came a cost but we can say without doubt we are overjoyed with the outcome and the follow up service. John and his team have kept an eye on the garden to ensure the warranty period is honored and have been proactive in providing follow up care at no further cost. If you want outstanding design, installation and after care then you must go with these guys.

We had a drainage issue in our back garden that had been getting worse each year to the point where we couldn't walk on the grass. There was standing water everywhere. Dale and his team talked us through a solution, explained how it would work, dug the channels and pits, laid the pipes and grit, then layered the soil and sand on top before placing the turf neatly on top. The team worked really hard on this, it's a 10m x 10m garden and we couldn't get machinery down the side, so this was a big effort. They were really diligent in the way they went about the work, they kept us informed along the way... it was a pleasure to have them round! Ours is a new build garden, which are notorious for issues such as this. We knew the ground wasn't prepared properly and that we'd likely hit issues like this. Nothing was beyond the team, they made us feel reassured and thanks to their hard work it feels like we have our garden back again — and when the weather is nice, it's the biggest room in the house, so well worth the investment! Thanks guys, amazing work! Couldn't recommend you highly enough. Basically, if you just want a problem sorting, no matter what size/scale, these guys will sort it for you without a fuss.

Would 100% recommend D&C lawn turf specialists, Dale and his team are professional, polite & extremely hard working. They were also very accommodating with a last minute change in the scope of works to include a concrete base for an outhouse. They kept us informed of progress and estimated completion throughout and the final result exceeded our expectations. We were given comprehensive aftercare instructions and the lawn is already looking amazing. Dales attention to detail and professionalism was second to none, the before photos do not do justice to the task they faced of a new build garden that consisted of mainly puddles with quite an incline, we look forward to many years of a puddle free lawn! We contacted many landscaping companies for a quote for our garden makeover but they either didn’t turn up, quoted but didn’t turn up on the day or made an excuse not to give us a start date! My wife contacted Dale and he arrived as agreed, we discussed what we would like then Dale threw in some suggestions of his own which we hadn’t thought of which were brilliant. Dale forwarded a quote that night and we agreed the price, he suggested a date and he started the work on time. It was the hottest day of the year in 2024 but Dale and his team carried on with hardly a break, we ensured they were well hydrated as our garden is a sun trap. All the work was carried out to a very high standard and on time, Dale would regularly ask for feedback on the progress and advise if there were any snags. The guys have done a fantastic job, the attention to detail is brilliant and we really appreciate the hard work. We both thank you.

We recently had our patio done with D&C Lawn Turf Specialists and are over the moon with the result! We couldn’t have asked for a better finished product!
